Although the food can be somewhat cold and slightly overpriced from what you would pay at the market, La Canche is a must for a local connection. With expat run businesses abounding in Antigua, finding a local owner, especially one that has been here her entire life is precious. I am a Guatemalan and can tell you her dishes are authentic and tasty and having a meal in her "trastienda" felt like visiting my great grandmother on Sundays for a tasty meal in her large kitchen.
