Wonderfully located close to La Merced Church and a short walk to Park Central, this hotel provides a clean safe room for your adventures in this historic city. Rooms are very basic and well kept. Walls are thin, you you may want to pack some ear plugs in case you have a loud snorer next door (as I did).

I stayed here 6 nights during Semana Santa. The location allowed me to take breaks when necessary--and a number of the processions eventually marched right by the front of the hotel.

There are numerous warning about robbery in Guatemala, and this may be true since the hotel frequently locks it doors. A few times I had to knock and wait quite a while before the person on duty came to open up for me.

The people running the hotel are very friendly and helpful. The hotel isn't listed on regular online travel service portals, but they have a website (in Spanish). I used Google translator to navigate through and emailed them a query for space. They answered back within an hour. That reflects how all services are with this hotel--I'd definitely book with them again should I return to Antigua.

We were stayed here for five nights before we joined our tour and it was a lovely hotel. The rooms were basic but very clean. The ladies who work there are forever cleaning and sweeping, they cleaned the room every day and we had fresh towels.
The walls are paper thin so be prepared to put up with the soothing sounds of your neighbour gently snoring!!

The place has a book exchange, free purified water, coffee ( v weak) and half hour free internet. It has a couple of little courtyards that are great for sitting and relaxing.

We were here just before holy week and the place was packed but def an experience. Loads of great places to eat nearby and only a 10 min walk from the central park. Frendandos Kaffee just on the corner did the best coffee we found. If you want cheap food head towards the bus station. Rainbow cafe is def worth a try too.

The hotel was basic but it was great for us.

I was really excited about my stay at Posada Los Bucaros, but ultimately I cannot recommend this hotel. On the surface, everything looks great, but after the first night, I knew we were in for trouble.

The Room: Presentation is nice, the rooms appear clean and the beds are attractive. BUT: the pillows are decorative and not for sleeping (think square rayon covered throw pillow instead of a cotton pillow with linen cover), the towels we got were old and worn and the bathroom tiles were cracked and looked unclean. Then there was the occasional cockroach that peeked in through the bathroom sink (which lacked a drain cover and had only cold water). The shower stall had nothing to put your soap on (you'd be surprised how much you miss this). Our room had a tiny 13inch tv where the room next to us had a newer plasma TV (not that we really cared). The worse of all were the curtains that didn't block any light, virtually eliminating the possibility of sleeping in. Not all the light fixtures worked and the ones that did had those horrible, bright bulbs with the blueish tinge that burn your eyes.

The location: No complaints. 10 minute walking to central park area.

Sleep quality: This is the BIGGEST problem at this hotel. First of all, the walls transmit every sound from neighboring rooms and people walking outside. We heard noises from people in their bathrooms, people having sex and just general conversation. It was awful! On top of that, the rooster crowed in a neighboring yard from 4am onward; dogs that belonged to the staff and neighboring dogs were barking relentlessly and the church bells rang so loud it was like you were in the belfry. I am utterly exhausted from lack of sleep as I write this.

The only part of this hotel which was wonderful were the staff. They were always friendly, always courteous and wonderful. I don't think they speak English though (fine for me since I'm a student of Spanish).

Amenities: The wireless internet is ok for checking email or light browsing, but is not reliable enough for skype or conducting transactions. It didn't reach into the room and could only be used in certain areas. Also, the complimentary coffee sits in a pot all day and is pretty bad. The free water is a MUST since it's not recommended that you drink from the tap.

Stayed here for 3 nights, enjoyed my stay here, the rooms were clean. The hotel has a cute courtyard area with tables & seating. I liked the attention to details around the hotel i.e the colourful cushions on the lobby sofa's, you will feel at home. They provide free water & coffee by the reception, staff were friendly too. They have free wifi too. I would stay here again. Don't forget to have brekie at Fenandez's on right of the hotel, on the corner.

I stayed here with a travel and study program. Rooms are spacious, staff are friendly but most speak minimal English (which was okay for me) and the location was excellent. The biggest problem are the shared courtyards--every room faces a courtyard. The courtyard is great and unless you have a bunch of self-absorbed, ignorant American students from State Universities staying, the experience can be excellent. Unfortunately, a number of drunk American students woke everyone up at midnight and again at 3 AM. It was obvious they had little supervision or awareness of how their own behavior affected others. I am an American--it just made me disgusted with this group and having led travel and study seminars since 1991, I would be embarrassed for my university. So, that is the only downside--it can be very noisy.

All staff were very helpful and welcoming. Antigua is tiny and this hotel is about 6 small blocks to main square. On arrival the reservation wasn't on the system, but it wasn't a problem and a room was arranged immediately. There is a great coffee shop one block away on the corner for breakfast and lots of good places to eat no more than ten minutes. The room was a simple ensuite, no tv/phone etc but wifi which was really handy, and the room was made up each day. I heard of a lot of people paying A LOT to get to Antigua from Guatemala City airport, I pre-booked a taxi for $10, so don't be fooled! The hotel has two patios which are nice to sit out and relax. If I were to go to Antigua again I'd probably stay somewhere else for a change but for a simple but friendly stay in Antigua, here fits the bill.

It is about 5 blocks away from the central park. It is located in a quieter area, but has lots of spas, restaurants, and cafes nearby. Great if you would like to get away from the touristic center, yet be close enough to walk. The hotel has 2 lovely courtyards that have an open roof, wonderful garden, and water fountain. There is a security guard at night so it's a bit more secure. The hotel has a tv, and free wifi and offers free purified water, and coffee in the morning. they have tables in the courtyard that make reading during the day lovely. There is also a book exchange area. The buffets are great value. This hotel had everything I was looking for and I would go back again.
