We visited Lo Chapin and enjoyed the ribs and thechicken raviolli.

Both were very good and makes us want to return one day.

Service was good and the prices were reasonable.

We just tried to have dinner at A lo Chapin - and what a disappointing experience. First, the server was more interested in texting on his cell phone than paying attention to what he was doing. We were served meals with no utensils. I had to go to a different table and get two sets of utensils - while the waiter was still texting on his phone.

I ordered the Tilapia sandwich which was HORRIBLE.

It tasted like a cheap frozen fish patty from Pricesmart that had been deep fried while still frozen. When I bit into it, it was cold, slimy, and rubbery. NASTY! The "fish" part was pale, quivering and jelly-like. I ate the french fries.

For that I had the privilege of paying Q65 (about $8.00 USD).

My husband ordered the "tipico" plate, which looked very bland and uninspiring. A slice of meat, refried beans, rice and some avocado.

Also, I ordered a drink that a previous reviewer recommended: the honey-ginger Margarita. It was OK, but at 35Q (about $4.25 USD) it was no great value. Especially when served in a small wine glass (about 6 oz, I think). If you want a decent Margarita, just go to Frida's.

So, I mucked down a few bites of the sandwich but it was so disgusting that I couldn't eat it. My husband suggested that we just pay and leave. I asked the waiter for the check. He did notice that I had barely touched the sandwich and asked if everything was OK.

I told him the sandwich was awful and he simply cleared our plates away. No apologies, no attempts to make it right...NOTHING.

We paid and walked the block and a half to a standby favorite, Cactus Grill (which serves wonderful Mexican style tacos).

We live in Antigua, and this is the very slow season. Restaurants come and go. With so many wonderful places in town, I would be shocked if this place survives.
