“Casa Encantada a gem”
Reviewed 21 October 2008

After being in the wilderness for two days, Casa Encatada was a wonderful find. We were in Guatemala in 2007 and when we flew in we went straight to the lake - Lago de Atitlan. And stayed at Hotel Bambu at a lil lakeside town called Santiago de Atitlan for two days. It was in the middle of nowhere but after two full days of relaxation with nothing to do but talk, we were ready to go back to civilzation.

We heard about Casa Encantada before, and we took our chance knocking on their door without a reservation on a rainy night once we got to Antigua.

They had a room available, and I was basically in heaven when I saw it. White sheets, fluffy bed and pillows, great bathroom, white bathrobe... it was amazingly beautiful for someone who has had enough of the country side. It was a very small room with really big furnitures, but they made it work. Our room was in the back of the hotel, they had a lil cute walkway that leads to the room lighted by candles. The next morning, breakfast was served on the roof, it was just too cute.

I loved my stay at Casa Encantada... The hotel is so tranquil and relaxing, it really is great!!

The location is about a 10 minute walk to the central park but is worth being that little bit further out because the rooms are beautiful. I stayed in a Queen Room room which although a little on the small side, had so many little charming touches that it did not matter. We had to walk over water on stepping stones to our room which was just gorgeous!!

Th breakfast too is great... You have a choice for a cooked breakfast and food is of a good quality and very fresh!

Customer Service was also a highlight... Staff were so helpful and pleasant and they all speak English which was a bonus.

If I went back to Antigua, I would book back into this hotel in a heartbeat!

I echo all the complimentary reviews, but add that I would definitely stay in the rooftop suite at least once before I die!!!
Our twin room was so nice but from the minute I saw the suite, with it's large jacuzzi tub, marble bath and fireplace, I knew it would be my goal to have it next time.
The terrace is such a lovely place to enjoy a beverage ( a staff member came up to serve us and stayed until we went to our room) We were the only guests there at the time. It's a great place to organize your trip plans and enjoy the atmosphere, away from the hustle and noise of the city parque/square.
Just lovely!!

What a lovely hotel! I was so pleasantly surprised this hotel, which was far more beautiful that I expected based on its website, which made it appear quite plain. This small boutique hotel really pulled out all of the stops, and its attention to detail made for a wonderful stay. The rooms featured stunning old timbers, framed indigenous textiles and very large stylish bathrooms. The mattress was a bit firm, but the linens were fantastic, with tons of fluffy pillows and a duvet with a washable cover. The toiletries smelled nice, and bathrobes were included.

The hotel is removed enough from the center square that it is quiet, but close enough to make walking all over Antigua very simple. The courtyard is very peaceful with pretty landscaping, and the small water garden was just enchanting. Breakfast on the rooftop was quite good (several menu selections included with room price) and offered a nice view. There are several cozy common areas to just relax.

The hotel staff was quite helpful with arranging transportation from the airport and to Lake Atitlan.

We stayed in the roof-top suite for three nights and the whole experience was just wonderful. A large, lovely room, quiet, beautifully decorated. The staff was always on-hand with reservations, suggestions, etc. Also, this hotel is four block from the Parque Central, close enough to walk and far away enough to be out of the crowds and noise. I don't know about the other rooms, but you will not be disappointed with the suite.

We came here as the first stop on our honeymoon in Jan 08. I can only echo the other reviews here - it's a beautiful, small, tranquil base for exploring Antigua.
Rooms are large, clean and comfortable and eating the fantastic breakfast on the sunny roof terrace is something I will never forget.
Highly recommended!

We stayed at Casa Encantada in mid-January. The property is lovely! We had room 7. (queen room). To get to the room, you walk over a lilly pond on big boulders. In the evening, candles are placed along the path. SO BEAUTIFUL. The room wasn't large but quite comfortable and not noisy at all! Loved the roof top for a drink in the evenings and breakfast in the morning. The view of the volcano is spectacular. What a great find and great price!!!
