We crashed at the Tokyo Star against the advice of our Ukrainian friends. I needed to be located near the train station so we decided to stay at the Tokyo Star. The location and the price is the best part about this place. The rooms are tiny and its not the cleanest place in the world. But, if all you need is a place to sleep and a shower, then this is your place. The ladies up on the 2nd floor will also do your laundry for a few bucks. I'd stay here again, but I don't think I could do more than 2 nights. It is great to be able to walk right to the train station.

Room Tip: Stay on the first floor

It is a really budget hotel with no extra services. It is rather for a short visit because all rooms are very small. There are different kind of rooms: I have seen a room for two and for four. You could also choose a room with a window and without a window. Those with windows were more expensive (but it was few euros more). All rooms have a bathroom. Sometimes when you open the door to your room you may first enter to a bathroom and then you have a room. I have a room with one bed for two and there was no door between the bathroom and the room - this option is ok only for couples. There was a tv set and a fridge in the room. The room was clean.

There is also a small shop inside the hotel. The reception staff was not friendly and hardly speaks English. It is not possible to check in earlier without extra money. I had no reservation and get to the hotel as a walk - in and we paid around 18 Euro per room. It was a good price. It is really centrally located - nead the main railway station.

Place was cheap and close to the train station. Hotel was only 30 mins walk into the main centre of town. Service wasn't great, the lady at the desk wasn't sure if I paid, but understood English which helped. Rooms are basic (and dated), bed linen was not nice though it was clean. Room had all the basics, TV, shower and basin. Lots of noise at night, to be expected at cheap hotels and hotels though. Would recommend staying at a hostel if you don't mind sharing a room.

Ok - the first self-evident thing, is that you're talking about somewhere between E9-E18 for a single room, so there should be very little expectation. I booked through Hotels.com, but was asked for a deposit of E10 and asked to 'pay per night used' in cash; I tried to point out that I'd already paid, even in passable Russian, but forget it. I shelled out 85H and up I went. Now the room seemed OK to me -- obviously small, but everything there, including a little towel. The problems really came to the fore later on..there's a duvet cover sans duvet, which was fine when it was hot in the late evening, but just not enough when it got cold early morning. There was a power cut in the evening, which didn't help matters either. But the real killer for me, was that there was a leak in the sink pipe, which meant that the whole floor flooded soaking clothes, luggage, power leads etc..now that's just unlucky, but you get the feeling that it's going to be one thing or another that gets you in the end. On the plus side, it wasn't especially noisy during the night, but cleaners were on the go from 6.30AM. The reception area consists of someone behind a glass hatch and there can be INCREDIBLY LONG queues to check in and INCREDIBLY LONG queues to check out (and get your deposit back). It's situated up near the central bus station, which isn't the best of areas either. I hate writing this stuff, because I love Odessa - without question, my favourite city in the world, but quite simply if you can afford a few extra $$s / €€s, do yourself a favour and find somewhere else..

Room Tip: If you're going to stay there in a single, then look for 6.01 or 6.02 as they're first up th...

Thank you for your comment. I have to point out, however, that there is no theoretical way to "sink leakage" to affect guest's clothes or other items because bathroom floor has its own sink.

I hated it not because of lack of space - you get what you get for such price, but because of no proper attitude on reception. No hospitality whatsoever you should expect there. In some way you are viewed as an enemy.

Well in this case, you get what you pay for-that's for sure. It's a backpacker-hotel, not honeymooner's! Yes, it is VERY cheap, and it's also VERY small rooms!! Our room was so small that we could'nt open the door properly bcs of the beds. The luggage must be under the bed, bcs there is no place to store it...not even on the floor. This is not the place if you are sensitive for noises...I mean...what the neighbor is saying or "doing". But there is a little frigde, TV and a tiny little bathroom. Shower has hot water. The staff talks good english. The location is great!
So if you only need a place to sleep-go for it!
