in the very city center. clean. staff is polite. bar/restaurant open 24 hours. possibility to have breakfast at any time. It was my first time in odessa, so I'm not able to say it has been a cheap choice or not (130 euro for 2 nights in double room), but feeling is that I could choose this place again, in the future.

Not grand (on the top floor of a slightly seedy courtyard) but this hotel has all that you need - clean rooms with air con and free wi-fi, great location, super service, and terrific eggs for breakfast. Highly recommended.

Some of the better hotels were booked, especially along the Arcadia Beach district. It wasn't entirely a planned visit, until like a week prior. Besides, I wasn't with anyone, so I had no need for a romantic stay for 2 or anything of the like. When arriving in Odesa, it was quite a culture shock, compared to other Eastern European countries I've visited. There were so many Russians in town on vacation. People generally spoke no English. Unmarked taxi drivers were a hassle and actually threatened to go to the police if they didn't stop messing with me.

Eventually I made my way to what I thought was Ekaterinia Hotel. After x-amount of stair flights, with baggage, I came to a lobby. Unfortunately I was in the wrong place. There was another Ekaterinia Hotel (II). The receptionist there was very friendly and helpful. She said it happens often.

So then I made it to this place and it wasn't as much as a dive as the first one. The staff here were very friendly and helpful. They kept me close to the lobby, so they can better assist me since this was a big language & cultural barrier. I was cool with that. Upstairs, they had a cafe-bar. They were avail' 24-7. Wow not bad for a secluded, not well-known place. I think their effort to accommodate me spoke volumes. It wasn't the best hotel in the city, but it was inexpensive and the area was at/near Old Town.

The receptionists led me to a great restaurant down the street, things to see and do. They were so helpful that I wanted to give a good review. I recommend it for anyone who just wants to check out Odesa for a weekend and not get hassled with fancy hotels and what not.

When booking be careful to distinguish this hotel - Ekaterina II - from the 'parent' hotel a few streets away. This one is equally well located though, overlooking a quiet square, within a few minutes walk of the city centre, a large park, the new stadium, and the beach.

The scruffy entrance and yard, are no indication of the lovely hotel located on the 4th floor within.
The welcome was warm and friendly and the staff were very, very helpful - Victor Modric in particular. The staff work incredible 24 hour shifts and nothing is too much trouble. Food & drink was available 24 hours a day and the air conditioned rooms, although on the small side, were spotlessly clean with extremely comfortable beds. And all on a budget! I would look no further than this hidden gem when returning to the charming Odessa which grows on you a little more each day, even though the beaches are insanely crowded in the height of summer!

This property is called "hotel" in most booking engines.
Well, it's not really a hotel, but rather set of appartments with reception desk.
Ekaterina II occupies top floor (and newly added manasarde) of the building in Central Odessa (just at the Ekaterina square, steps away from Potiomkin steps and 100 meters from Deribasovskaya street with its evening entertainments). These floors are renovated (a little "cheap plastic" approach), but the building itself is showing aging. Also to reach the hotel you need to go through a shaby backyard, which might add to your "city thrills" if you like it.

Rooms are simple, but work well for the overnight sleep (aircondition, cleanliness etc.). But do not expect more than 2-3* quality.

Probably the best part of Ekaterina II is the breakfast room which provides you with very nice city and port views. Also the food is tasty, even with the strange "pre-selection" approach and limited choice of drinks included in package. Good start of the day.

Free wifi working surprisingly well.

Do not mix this property with Ekaterina, which belongs to the same owner but is located in the other part of the city.

Room Tip: probably the rooms on the 4th floor are better than in the hot mansarde
