Warning!! This hotel is not a 4-star hotel - this is definitly cheating, much too expensive, bad service, cold rooms in winter, wifi doesn't work properly, noisy from the nightclub, unfriendly und unflexibel personal, limited breakfast....never ever again.

We stayed at Palladium for one night in August 2012 and were quite pleased.

This was our last evening in Ukraine, where we had spent the previous 2.5 weeks surveying different parts of the country, experiencing differing kinds of customer service, Ukrainian-style. Here the staff were polite and professional, and we were grateful they spoke English. We thought our room clean and quiet, and I am particular about cleanliness. Wifi worked for us in our room without hangups. In the morning, a staff member escorted us to the cafe, just next door, where they serve breakfast which we thought very good, and was presented with care. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the view, watching people going to work. The 70 hrvn per person allowance was fine for us - we were left with a very small payment for a breakfast of 2 espressos, mineral water, 2 fresh juices, fruit plate, yogurt, vegetable frittata and potatoes. We had no time for the pool so did not visit, but we did do a daytime and visit their beach-side club, Itaka which was fantastic. In Odessa we did not use public transport; in total we rode in taxis 5 times and found prices a bit variable. The average price was ~ 40-50 hrvn for distances between Palladium to the Opera House area, or to Arkadia, which is 5-6 USD for ten minute rides or so... But one quote was 26 hrvn and another 100! If you don't like a price quote you can move on and find another taxi. There are plenty. Overall, Odessa felt like a small city to us, seeming less formal than Lviv or Kiev. We would return to Odessa, and to Palladium.

Tip: If you are traveling in Ukraine and are from the USA, don't expect to receive warm smiles from people employed in the service industry as you would at home; Ukrainian behavior in general seems relatively reserved around strangers and if you have such expectations your feelings may be hurt. You will find that if you make an effort to speak their language [Ukrainian or Russian, depending on where you are ], even if very small, you will always receive a smile.

I stayed in this hotel on September 2011, Rooms are not spacious but clean, location not central, you need to get a Taxi to get to City Centre, hotel can arrange the Taxi with reasonable price, but Trains Station ''Vokzal'' is a walking distance from hotel .Security at hotel entrance 24 hours.
Breakfast was served in a near bye Restaurant with limit of 50 Hyrvinia per person. Not too much restaurants in the surroundings .
They offer free pass to their beach , 10 minutes away by car, but it is a nice one.

Room Tip: Keep your passport with you where ever you go in Odessa, as you can be stopped and be asked about th...

I've just got back from a five night stay at the Palladium Hotel and was pleasantly surprised after reading a couple of previous reviews. We were England football fans in Ukraine for the Euro's so decided to base ourselves in Odessa and use the overnight trains to get to the games in Kiev.

The hotel is located in a reasonably central location but unless you're planning on walking miles then taxis are a must....Odessa is a very large city. We walked to the beach the first day which took around 20 minutes but thereafter took taxis everywhere. The staff at the hotel were quite happy to phone and book cabs for us and we found these very reasonably priced compared to the cabs on the street which always tried to charge us double for the return journey to the hotel. ALWAYS haggle with the drivers and you should expect to pay about half what they originally tell you.

The hotel itself is modern, immaculately clean and the rooms were all nicely air conditioned - a relief as Odessa was roasting hot! The staff at the desk, although not overly friendly were competant and seemed professional. It's worth taking a trip down to the pool where you will find a smallish sized pool, hot tub, steam room, sauna, tanning machine and snooker table. They closed the facilites to others while we were in there and I think you only get around an hour but what a place to relax after a 9 hour train journey back from Kiev! Our only gripe was that on the next day when we tried to use the pool etc again they told us we could only use the pool and none of the other stuff so maybe you have to pay extra for this?

Wifi was problematic, in the room it was at full stength one minute then nothing the next but this seemed to be a problem in most wifi areas we encountered across the city. The best and fastest free wifi was at Mick O'Niels Irish bar which served decent food and was reasonably priced.

Avoid the cafe on the corner unless it is for breakfast. You get a fixed amount to spend which should cover a decent breakfast but it is very expensive for drinks etc...around 4-5 Euros for a bottle of beer/coffee etc.

As mentioned previously the hotel own the nightclub Itaka in Arcadia and will give you free passes if you ask them. This place is awesome and definately worth a visit. Great music, stunning looking club, friendly patrons and the most beautiful women you have ever seen in your life!! We were still busting shapes on the outside dance floor at 7am whilst the sun was rising across the sea. This and the other clubs in Acardia easily match anything you will find in Ibiza and I'm not joking!

When you leave the hotel just make sure you carry your passport, especially around Arcadia at night as the local "law enforcement" are always handy to check your documents and in our case two of our friends who forgot to bring them were "fined" 20 Euros each!

Overall Odessa is a great place and well worth a visit and you could do alot worse than staying at this hotel.

The hotel room were adequately sized and reasonably clean. The location of this hotel is little of the the center of the city which might be a problem with some visitors. The breakfast was served in the little restaurant on the corner of the building-outside the lobby which I, personally ,did not like very much .However the quality and the service were exceptional so finally i did not care much.
During my visit the club was closed for summer/renovation was i did not witness loud music as other visitors reported in other reviews. As people told me this Club, Ithaca , is considered very popular among the youth of the city. Speaking of clubs , the management of the hotel offered me some free/discounted tickets to their other club at Arcadia.
Wifi was problematic on the main building but quite satisfactory at the corner cafe.
The rates both at the hotel and the cafeteria were reasonable.

Wifi wasn't working first day. Couldn't sleep for 2 nights due to noise from the club.
Seems more like available rooms for the club customers than a hotel with a club.
If I was 22 and in Odessa with friends to party, then I'd love this place.
The bathroom was quite ok though.

I had no problem with the hotel. Some staff spoke English and I had a good time there. I felt comfortable and secure with staff on door 24 hrs a day. It was reasonably priced and the resaurant attached to the hotel served food and drink 24hrs a day too.Taxis were necessary to get to anywhere, i would not go on public transport there unless I was with a very trusted local, but taxis were available and you could barter a good price with them. The place was very clean and the laundry service was excellent also.
I arrived by train which was a joke, but was relieved to arrive at Palladium Hotel.
One word of warning dont fall ill in Ukraine, also ensure you know a few basic Russian phrases to help get yourlsef about. Didnt carry my passport once and the Hryvnia is an amazingly good deal on your Euro just now.
