“Beautiful space we shared with our best friends”

These two beautifully self contained rooms (reminiscent of our B and B in Venice) with kitchenette, ensuite, air conditioning and gorgeus small courtyard set us up for a lovely overnight stay on the edge of the Old Town, walking distance from the harbour.
Tip Make contact with Michelle before arrival as there is no parking in Old Town, however, she and her husband couldn't do enough to assist us with getting our luggage from car to our accommodation. Proximity to eating shopping and chilli gout fantastic. Would have happily stayed for a few days especially if our stay began on Saturday and a stock up at the amazing fresh produce markets.

An enterprising couple has remodeled and nicely furnished three apartments for use as vacation rentals. Two of these are next to each other on Trumbucac Ulica 11, which is some 200 meters outside Diocletian's palace walls. There is even a small garden and more light. Their third unit is inside the city walls, cute but on the small side, and less than100 meters from Diocletian's mausoleum, which is smack in the center of the palace grounds. I believe it is on the Ulica Julija Nepota. You do have to climb two flights of stairs. Michele will get her strong husband to help you with your luggage, both at arrival as well at departure. She is very helpful but she lives some distance away, so you do need a telephone to contact her. The location of these three units is superb, within easy walking distance to everything you want to see. They are all very nicely furnished, clean, and well-equipped.

The two units outside the walls are both on the ground floor next to each other. The larger unit even has a sauna, a large kitchen, a large sitting area, and a space-age type shower enclosure with nozzles directed towards different parts of the body but, like many newfangled doodads, not always operational. The smaller unit is a studio, located next to it. We were two couples housed inside and outside the walls, and the distance between the 2 units and the one inside the walls is only 5 minutes away, but it is a hassle if you don’t have a telephone.

It is important that you ask Michele how all the gadgets, such as heaters, washing machine, etc. work. In the small unit inside the walls our heater was not very efficient, and only the last day we found out there was a second heater. Also, you will not be able to find these apartments on your own, but Michele will meet you and take you there.

Breakfast is not included, but the fruits and vegetable market is nearby, as well as a number of grocery stores open quite early to quite late.

Parking is very expensive around that area, but if you come with a car, Michele will block a parking place in one of the few free parking lots around ahead of time, where you can then park your car for the duration of your stay. But if you leave that spot during that period, you are on your own. When you return, the parking place will not be there anymore,.

Room Tip: The units on Trumbucac are really nice and I believe they would be preferable over the smaller unit...

What a wonderful experience we had, staying within the old palace in a beautifully furnished apartment. Michelle and her husband are amazing hosts: meeting us in the harbour, ensuring that we have a space to park our car. They even came to fetch me and my luggage, making sure I get my transport to the airport. The apartment is located in the best spot to explore Split...do not hesitate to book here

Our suite was beautifully furnished, equipped to the tiniest detail. The quality of the bedding, kitchen and bathroom accessories were the highest. The apartment was cool, and always some shade in the pretty courtyard. Our apartment was very central, and with two friendly supermarkets and three bakeries around the corner. Breakfast was perfect with their cheese and ham pastries, and cherries from the market across the road. The very best part of our holiday was the welcome from Michelle - the tourist office must be very proud of her.
Split is a very beautiful and exceptional town. We took the little train up to Park Marjan. Don't miss the chance to go on the train. The views are stunning! In town there is a large fashion store - Prima, that has a café - Colours - with a large terrace, that had a cool breeze, overlooking the town and sea, on the fourth floor. The drinks were as cheap as anywhere. We also visited beautiful Trogir several times, which you can reach by bus or by a small ferry. Trogir has a wonderful restaurant, Kamerlengo, that specialises in fish, but has many meat and pasta dishes. You can watch your food being cooked over a fire. We went to Milna on the island of Brac. We were the only tourists to get off at Milna, so walking around the was very peaceful. Would love to do it all again.

Our suite was just down the road from Diocletian's palace and had everything we needed for our comfort, including laundry facilities! A cosy, clean spot, also steps from the bus, train and ferry termini.

What can I say that hasn't been said before. Such wonderfully appointed apartments. So here are some tips, the apartment within the palace is superbly appointed but access is via steps, two sets one from the street to the doorway and then as flight to the apartment itself. If you are travelling as a four try to book the other apartments which are easily accessed and have a beautiful courtyard. The apartments here feature a large apartment and a smaller studio, but would work for four friends together.
Michelle is such a great owner she really does care about her guests and is always ready to meet and greet (she directed us to a car park and was there within seconds of our arrival, do text her your car details or the bus you are on).We were taken to park the car in the old town, close to the apartment, then she ran through a plan of the town and talked through all the attractions.
Would I stay here again? Most certainly!
