It was a little bit hard to find the place at first place using our car navigation, but after we got there, we were glad it was quite near to the main castle city (about 5 minute walking distance) and in a nice shape. The owner was quite nice and easy going with great English communication skills. She seemed busy with her baby yet was so kind enough taking her time out to welcome us in spite of our unexpected early arrival. At a reasonable rate, in a great location and with a nice host, St. Luck was my great choice I made in Croatia! =)

Room Tip: You have to be lucky like us if you drive because you need to park in public area.

We stayed for two nights as part of our Easter holiday 2014 in Croatia. I and my husband greatly enjoyed staying in this place. Mr Niksa, the owner of the apartment welcomed us like a relative! We had a very comfortable stay, ou room was on the second floor.. I highly reccomend this place. It's near to the town center and there are very good restaurants near his place that serves excellent seafood!

Others have commented on Niksa, St. Luke's fabulous host. St. Luke's is Niksa's complete labor of love, and he has done a fantastic job renovating an old building to form a luxurious little hotel. Niksa lays out snacks, breakfast food, wine, coffee, etc., for his guests to partake off as they wish. The rooms are extremely well appointed, comfortable, and the location is primo. We stayed in the penthouse, with a deck facing the sea. Amazing. I would never stay anywhere else in Split.

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful but the penthouse is amazing.

We stay in St Luke for 2 nights and I wish we can stay longer. What a special place. Beautiful surrounding, exceptional location and a fantastic host. the old place was transformed into a modern ,extremely comfortable place with the green concept in mind. i read the previous reviews (based on which we choose the place) and I agree whole hearted with all the compliments for the place and the host. As first to come we had a review of the whole place in order to choose the room. The top apartment, more expensive is fantastic and to top it of the roof top terase is with a fantastic view of the city and the water. we select a 1st floor room and we were very happy. The big surprise was the kitchen/dinning room at the level floor that was open from 7am to 8 pm and staff with all kind of free goodies for breakfast and /or light lunch. Bowls of fruits, cookies, coffee, teas, juices and on the first day with all new guests in place Niksa brought a big fresh fig cake. Extra were bottle of wine to drink at your pleasure. The kitchen was fully stocked and could be used, the room was full of books and info. Niksa is the best host and was trying to be away as to not disturb the guests (he does not leave on the premises), but what a treat if you can listen to him and his stories....
Niksa was waiting for us at an arrange point to help us with locating easy the house and help with the luggage.
The place was so homey and nice that it was at a tough competition with the beautify city of Split. The day we were living we had rain in the morning and I felt relief to have a "reason" to spend more time with a cup of expressso in the nice and warm kitchen/dinning chatting with the other 2 couples and Niksa. Note: You can keep your luggage there if you have a late departure.

Room Tip: All the rooms are great. The 1st floor room on the left is slightly bigger.

This is an absolute gem of a place, and Niksa is a great host and a proper character.

The location is superb, a 5 minute walk from the Diocletian Palace and on the doorstep of most of the top rated restaurants in Split. The renovation of the property is stunning, with no expense spared on quality furnishings, very very tasteful and it's like being at home (but better!). The club room downstairs is a great addition for breakfast, drinks, coffee etc. Niksa basically gives you the run of the place and practically instructs you to help yourself to his wine....and the Plavac Mali is a lovely drop!

You will need to pay cash (no cards) as it the case in many other places in Split, and if you can't handle a couple of flights of stairs this place isn't for you, though this is made clear when you book.

Seriously, don't hesitate to book this place, it is the absolute business and great value. We had 2 nights here at the start of our holiday and 1 night at the end and would 100% stay here again.

We stayed at St Luke for 3 nights having travelled down from Plitvice Lakes. We were met by Niksas as all the other reviews have stated is a character. He can normally be found at a nearby tavern sipping coffee if not at St Luke as he does not like to impose himself on his guests. He let us have the pick of the rooms as we were the 1st arrivals that day. He showed us where everything was and how it worked then went on his merry way. If we bumped into him he would always regale us with stories of his time on the Merchant boats. The room was fantastic with a lovely comfy bed and spotlessly clean (His aunt does the cleaning). The 'meeting room' downstairs was stocked with wine, fruit juices, yoghurts, fresh fruit, biscuits, teas and coffees any or all of which was free, so you could take a bottle of wine back to your room if you wanted to. A great place to start your day and when you return from your daily activities. The building is 30 seconds from the Riva and 30 seconds from the No 2 and No3 restaurant in Split according to Tripadvisor (17/09/13). Thank you Niksas for a wonderful stay in your wonderful house and we will recommend your house to any of our friends who may venture to Split in the future,

Room Tip: All the rooms we saw were excellent. Clean and modern so no issues whatever room you get

We stayed for 4 nights in the penthouse at St. Luke's Residence 3 weeks ago and thought it was brilliant. The bedroom was nice and the air conditioning excellent, and the penthouse also has a great living room with a mini-kitchen and a wonderful roof terrace with fantastic views over the harbour. Particularly at night this feels incredibly atmospheric..... Niksa the owner is mad but lovely and very friendly, and makes you feel right at home. He gave us two free excellent bottles of red wine to drink on our roof terrace during our stay too!

Despite being 2 minutes walk from the sea, the apartments are incredibly quiet. The building is lovely and historic and has a communal lounge downstairs with free food. If you are thinking of staying in Split we would massively recommend staying here (in the penthouse if you can get it!), or at least in the Old Town. Split itself is not the most attractive city, but the Old Town is wonderful and atmospheric so why not stay in it rather than travelling in each day to see the sites (like Diocletian's Palace)?

One tip we discovered is that you need to book pretty much all decent restaurants (walking in and doing it at lunchtime is fine) to get a table for dinner, otherwise you will struggle as most of the restaurants are small with only a few tables. The food was excellent pretty much everywhere we went, but the best dinners we had were at Konoba Matejuska and Konoba Marjan just a few minutes away. Konoba Feral Pizza was nice for lunch too...

We would recommend visiting the Roman ruins at Salona and Trogir as day trips, and Diocletian's Palace and Froggyland in Split too. Froggyland is amazing - look it up on Tripadvisor!!
