“Wonderful Hotel”
Reviewed 5 July 2014

My wife and I stayed here for two night while we were in Split. Highly recommend the hotel. It is in a great location, sea side and a quick dive or bus ride to anywhere in the city. They have an indoor and an outdoor pool, very clean and nice.
Breakfast was excellent, a wonderful spread with everything you could want. We had a basic room with a King bed; the room was a bit small but nothing to complain about; clean and comfortable with free wifi. The staff at times was not the most helpful, seems they have a lack of communication. There was a small issue and the staff at the desk said they were going to comp our parking due to the issue. When we checked out the person said there was no note about the parking being comped. Was not a major issue but like I said, lack of communication. Overall it was a great hotel.

I just want to say what an amazing massage I had here. Ask for Paula, literally the best massage I have ever had! Words can't even explain how good she was, I am in post massage bliss.

This is a lovely hotel if you are looking for somewhere big with standard large hotel services like room service and a pool. Clean funky rooms. Cocktails at the pool were great, and the gym is well equipped.

We were staying here for two nights while we waited for our yacht cruise to start. I would definitely recommend it as a great spot to get started on a tan, work out and get over any jet lag/tiring travel experiences before starting any holiday plans.

I feel we paid quite a lot compared to Croatian prices, but it was one of the few with a pool so...

Hotel is about a half hour walk from the old town, but has everything you need. The views are very nice and the manmade beach is okay. The food at the restaurants were good. The rooms are kind of funky and I would have rated it higher if not for the room location. I ordered an upgrade on the room and asked for one on higher floors. The room they gave us was on the pool which is not what I would find acceptable due to the noise and people looking in. I complained and they gave us another room but we had to wait so we went into town. When we got back they had one room available (tour buses again) and it was not much better than the first one, just one level up overlooking the roof and dining area which was very loud with some partyers. Doubt I would go back.

Room Tip: Get a room high up with an sea view.

We were in large rooms with an ocean view and terraces which are supposed to be the best ones in terms of size and comfort. Breakfast had a nice selection and we could eat outside. You don't want to walk to the old town so you have to take cabs but the upside is that you can swim in the ocean. They are pretty well set up with their beach access (except they could use a changing room). Yes, the water is nicer in Dubrovnik but Split is a much bigger city.

Room Tip: Make sure you get an ocean view room.

on check in details confused with someone else's on the computer printout? room very average stayed in better Travel Lodges. Mistrel Beach is good, first day advised it was closing at 3pm for a wedding, staff started stripping the place out at 1pm, beach subject to availability! Gym is good but has no rowing machine, swimming pools are very narrow, if 3 people are swimming lengths they are full, so swim space subject to availability! Food is generally good, although warm food is served on cold plates. Outdoor dining terrace is a bit dodgy underfoot, lots of potential trip hazards. Breakfast could be a little haphazard plenty of tables but full of dirty dishes awaiting clearing and cleaning, staff sometimes appear overwhelmed and lacking direct supervision, tables subject to availability! On the subject of staff there are a lot of really nice young people doing their best. Outdoor pool was closed on one day for a private party, again subject to availability! As an added treat the lift was out of order everyday of our stay, a notice went up advising us to use the other one, nice touch that there is not an other one, lift subject to availability! Poor man from OTIS was nearly a resident. The hotel guide book in the room advises that late check outs up to 6pm may be possible, enquired and was told should not be a problem as the hotel was not fully booked but to ask on the morning it was required, did so best offer was a pointless one extension, late check outs are subject to availability. This hotel promises much and delivers little, those staying here are treated like clients as opposed to guests, guests are treated with respect and are not deprived of the few facilities that may have attracted them to the hotel in the first place, whereas clients can be shuffled off to a take it or leave it as the corporate side of the business takes over. Either be a holiday resort or be a city centre hotel trying to be both does not work well. Overall I was not impressed I have stayed in much better hotels in Croatia, this one sadly was a let down.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else, when the work resumes on fitting out the two skeleton buildings, one to the front...

This is a really well designed, stylish resort hotel that looks a million dollars. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and fresh. Sea facing rooms in the new wing are by far the best. The old wing (communist era, refurbished) isn't up to the same level.

Breakfast is good enough, though the room feels a bit canteen like. The evening buffet suffers the same thing.

The indoor and outdoor pools are superb, though the view and atmosphere is a bit spoilt by the grotty high rise apartments around the hotel.

All in all the place is recommended.

This hotel has sleek modern lines and good sized rooms with excellent ensuites. The bar and the restaurant open onto a beautiful terrace with great views out to the Adriatic. Some reviews I read before going suggested it was far away from the action but it is a 5 minute taxi ride to the old town. We had a bit of argument over rooms with a view but the rooms we were eventually allocated, although not billed as seaviews, had great views from the balcony if not from the bed.
The breakfast buffet had great variety and eating out looking out to the islands just off Split was a highlight.
