“Fresher fish you can not get”
Reviewed 23 October 2013

This small bar restaurant exactly opposite Split's fish market, in the UNESCO old town, can not be more unique. The fish were caught overnight and go strait to the fish market from the harbour. Then to this small bar restaurant. No pretense, no table clothes just lightly fried prawns, sardines, squid and other small fish as and when caught. I've already been there twice this year and will go again next year when I'm in Croatia.

“Must try it”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

The Little Golden Fish is a simple bar/fish cafe directly across the lane from the centuries-old fishmarket in Split. Their fish can't be fresher. It is not only the good food - fish, salads, bread, wine, liquers and coffee, but also the lovely friendly attitude of the hard working women who run this place that makes it so special. They start work every morning at 4.30 a.m.! Every morning we bought our coffee there, served in real crockery on a tray which we would take back to our apartment around the corner and bring back later. On the way we would buy whatever treats the Artisan Bakery had made during the night. We had many pleasant evenings at Zlatna Ribica eating fried fish, drinking local beers and wine and watching the television with the locals. This is not a 'tourist trap' - the fishermen and locals have been eating there for years.

“Amazing!”
Reviewed 10 August 2013 via mobile

If you want good fried fish for an happy hour with cold beer or a fast lunch/dinner you HAVE TO try this place! Two or three tables outside and three inside but all the dishes are so delicious served with very good bread and beer or wine! Service is so kind and good! I went there two times in two days.

“great fried fish”
Reviewed 6 July 2013

This is a small eatery near the fish market. I had small fried red mullet and it was perfect. I am not giving excellent review only because it is really not an upmarket polace and wine is basically average. The fish was the best fried fish I have eaten.

“Best girlice ever!”
Reviewed 26 June 2013

Being across the fish market we decided to try their girlice. It was the best we 've ever eaten!!! It's a small café where all the locals come to have a coffee, some snack and have a laugh. It's nice to taste and watch the Croatian 's way of living.
