“World's smallest street is a treat”

Reviewed 29 August 2013

I had come across this attraction on Trip Advisor and thankfully my relatives took me along to it. Pictures do not really give this little street due credit as they can not show how small the place is. I had very little room either side of my shoulders when I did the walk backwards and forwards in the street. A must for anyone visiting Split, as it takes no time a all to see, but you get a few laughs and a couple of photographs as memories.

Since Diocletian's Palace was build more than 1,700 years ago, his walled fortress has become a fascinating architectural pastiche ever since. One of the most intriguing is Pusti me da prodjem, in Croatian, "let me pass". Less of a street and more of a necessity, this sliver of a passage abuts the 1,700 year-old Jupiter's Temple. The "street" was created when someone decided to build a large residential building (with a pizza joint/cafe on the ground floor) as close as humanely possible
to the foundation of the Temple, instantly making the smallest, narrowest street in the city! Just another wonderful quirky part of endlessly fascinating Split
