The Fruit's Square is well worth visiting. Although the fruits are a bit pricey, it is a living market which is frequented by locals too. The range of produce and the seasonal variety should not be missed. Do visit the Fish Market also.

It was out of season for the town and the market was still flowing!!! I have never seen so many fruits, veg, etc. I would say if you have the time you should go to the market. I love European Markets but this one by far is the best I have seen yet!!

I see that all foreigners are wrong and mix the town square with a green market. In the past, there was really selling frui market, in that this is a small square named. Today, there is, in a central position, monument to the our poet from the 15th century Marko Marulc, it made by our world famous sculptor Ivan Mestrovic. Behind him is a palace Milesi from the Baroque era. On the south side is the tower built by the Venetians. On the west side there is a cafe and two taverns. In the last few years in the summer there are workshops of medieval crafts.

Fruit's Square / Trg Brace Radic is a small piazza in the Old Town, just outside of where the western wall of Dioceltian's Palace would be. The photos are showing Green Market which is just outside of the eastern wall of Diocletian Palace. While the Green Market is the place where you'll get fresh fruit, vegetables, cheeses, oil, flowers etc.. at Fruit's Square you will have nice coffee, beer, find good shops ( but no fruits!). In the past, when Split was much smaller town there used to be green market.

The "Green Markets" are everywhere in ex-Yugoslavia, the places of trade for your daily goods. Local fruits, vegetables, dairys and meat are way cheaper there than in the supermarkets. In Split it is directly beside the city centre, so it is a very good place for a quick shopping. But besides the practical reasons, it is a very good place to see the original Croatian or rather Yugoslavian life. You see the fruits and products of the region, see inhabitants do their grocery shopping and have a talk...

It's a very good place to get a new look on Split outside of the very touristic Old City of Split. Go there and buy yourself a burek and some yoghurt for a Croatian breakfast!
