“Problems that the helpful staff tried to solve”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

I am sorry to share that my experience with this hotel was unfortunately not positive, in spite of the kind and proactive waiters and personnel that tried to solve the organisational problems we faced - even if beyond their tasks. Thanks to them all.
The reason is that the hotel seems mostly specialised in organised trips for large groups of vacationers, while we had to work for some conferences organised in the hotel, i.e. we had to spend long time queuing for a coffee at breakfast and waiting for food refurbishing, in addition to having no privacy or silence, for having no reserved spaces.
Compared to the price paid, the hotel is not really the best choice for individual business trip:e.g. rooms are quite outdated, not really clean, noise from the car traffic, poor wi-fi connection, elevator not working (maybe temporarily?) and no room service (you cannot even phone up the front desk for a coffee - there is no number in the room).

Room Tip: Problems with Wifi on the 2nd floor.

Wasn't expecting much after reading some reviews and our prior hotel stay in Montenegro, but this hotel is actually quite nice. Was here 2 nights with a group. The rooms are very clean, a very nice size and nicely appointed, including a good sized bathroom and Jacuzzi shower.

The location can't be beat - it's walking distance to the downtown waterfront/Diocletian's Palace area.

Great wifi reception in the rooms was also an unexpected addition to our stay here.

Breakfast was OK - nothing special and offerings a little meager as compared to somewhere like Germany.

No complaints and would be happy to recommend for stay in Split.

We had a very pleasant stay here. The bed was a bit worn along the edges and the metal was sticking through the fabric so that wasnt great but it was still comfortable in the middle.
It was very convenient to get to the waterfront from here which was really super. Hectically expensive wine that wasnt even nice!! Cold shower in the morning which was not great. But this could just be a silly adjustment that we didnt know about!
Very safe area.

We spent one night here as part of a bus tour. Older hotel but every worked and it was clean. Good location. Easy to walk into the old town and to the waterfront. Lovely room, lots of space. OK breakfast.

There was no TV remote controller in the room so reception sent a staff member to our room with 3 remotes. None of them worked. We were told that the next morning they would take one from another room and we would be OK.
In the morning we discovered that the high-tech, space-age, shower in the room did not work. It had twelve nozzles, a huge shower head and an FM radio in it, but only the hand shower worked. In addition, the drain was so inadequate that the shower basin filled up to overflowing, and as the floor tiles were glazed the wet bathroom floor became an ice rink. This was an extremely dangerous situation. We complained in reception and expected something to be done about it, but nothing was.
The breakfast room was nice and spacious as it would have to be for 73 rooms, but a minor disaster as the hot food could not be kept hot. And for all these rooms taking breakfast there was only one coffee machine. The resulting queue was up to 12 persons long at times.
In the afternoon there was still no remote for the TV. A staff member tried another two that also did not work, but then he showed us how to work the TV manually and we were OK. The shower was in the same state as when we left in the morning. The only thing that worked in this hotel was the staff, but clearly they had little or no backing from management.

Hotel President in Split is on very good location, in city centre. It's not 4 star hotel. Everything in Hotel is old but it's clean. Breakfast is nothing specail and could be better. Service is fine and helpful.

We liked the room & the cleanliness, but having to eat the unpleasant breakfast output left a bad taste about the place. Just too old and outdated to repeat a visit here. Location is fairly close to the walking street towards the sea.
