Zephyrus Boutique Accommodation
Ranked #16 of 194 Split B&B and Inns
Reviewed 17 September 2008

We stayed over in Split for 2 nights en-route to Palmizana, off Hvar (see other review). Catherine and Murray were delightful hosts, very friendly and accomodating (we arrived early and were given drinks in the terrace garden while our room was finished off). We stayed in room 2, which has been decorated in red and cream and has impeccable, good quality fittings. It's well equipped, with a fridge, hairdryer, iron, tea and coffee facilities, TV, air con and a safe. The bathroom was equally well-appointed, with no bath but a large shower instead.

Breakfast can be served in your room or in the charming garden, and consists of cereal, yoghurt, toast, juice and tea/coffee. We were given a front door key so that we had 24-hour access to the building too.

Zephyrus is situated in an old part of town, with narrow alleys, winding streets and charming stone houses all around. Split is well worth a visit, particularly the old palace, and if I am ever fortunate enough to go back, I'll certainly try and get a room here.

We stayed for 2 nights (not enough) in Zephyrus Luxury B&B in the old town of Split in October 07. Murray and Cathrin, the owners (Australian) have renovated an old apartment complex into an apartment and 2 rooms (ensuite).

Our room was up one flight of (external) steps (no lift ) but was beautifully renovated with modern furnishings and a great bathroom with modern plumbing! Air con, shutters on windows, kettle and coffee/tea provided.

A continental breakfast was served in the garden when we were there - it was 26 degrees C during the day, so nice to sit in the outdoors.

A 2 minute walk to the old city including Diocletian's palace and ferries.
A 1 minute walk to a laundromat. (Croatia does not have many laundromats). We had already done our washing in Dubrovnik - you may have to leave it there with a lady who does the washing for you.

It IS difficult driving to the B&B because of the narrow streets however Murray can come to rescue you on his scooter if you have a problem.

Zephyrus also has charter yachts.

Cathrin and Murray were charming hosts - plenty of recommendations for restaurants, things to do, islands to visit etc. Nothing was too much trouble.

[--] is their website.

A very pleasant oasis to have as a base from which to explore Split and the islands.

On our arrival at Zephyrus Murray & Cathrine had taken a break & we were greeted by their daughter & Murray's mother Valerie who couldn't have been more helpful. The apartment took our breath
away, it was so lovely after staying at hotels through Europe.
Apart from having everything we needed and more the little finishing touches made us feel very special. Murray & Cathrines daughter was on hand to give us information we needed to get around and was a delight to deal with. Murray's dad was on hand for information, breakfast etc and we did enjoy the chats with them all, made the stay much for personal. Great location, very central, would love to go back to try the sailing trips they offer.

We loved staying at Zephyrus. Murray and Catherine were fabulous hosts. The rooms were beautiful, clean and opulent. Lovely little touches with cold water in the mini bar fridge, chocolates on arrival and plunger coffee with fresh milk. The breakfasts each morning in our rooms were perfect and got us ready for the busy days. The location was ideal - a short walk to the centre and harbour. A little tricky to find at first but the locals were very helpful in pointing me in the right direction. Parking was tricky, but Catherine kindly came with us to park the car - thats what I call service!! Highly recommend the Zephyrus when visiting the amazing city of Split!

We wisely and thankfully choose to stay in Zephyrus for the complete duration of our 4 night stay in Split. After travelling to Split from Dubrovnik via a couple of islands, the high standard, quality and warm personable reception were very welcome!

Kathryn and Murray, the owners, are lovely and so helpful for local advice and guidance.

It is a small hotel with a handful of bedrooms that are finished to an extremely high standard, dare I say the quality of a 5 star room! The beds are divinely comfortable with beautiful bed linen and offer the invaluable air conditioning, that provided comfortable relief at temp of 38 degrees!

The breakfast is served in a courtyard, offering a nice and fresh continental breakfast selection.

We would highly recommend staying here if you are in Split, it is well worth the price!

We traveled to Split on our honeymoon and could not have asked for a better place to stay. Cathrine and Murray were wonderful hosts and the room was very comfortable. We loved having breakfast in the courtyard each morning and Catherine went above and beyond to help us plan day trips to nearby beaches. The location is fantastic and it’s only a short walk to restaurants, the pier, and the Palace. We have raved about this inn to all our friends back home and would certainly stay here again.

As other posters have said, it can be difficult to find the hotel as the street names in Split are not well marked. You may want to contact the owners for directions based on city landmarks rather than relying on a city map. However, once familiar with the area, Split is easy to navigate and a fun city to explore on foot.

Stayed here at the start of June. Murray and Cathrine are very friendly hosts - Murray even came down to the port terminal on his moped to meet us as we drove off the car ferry. Stylish, well equipped rooms and very good location - 2 mins walk down to the old part of the city. Well recommended.
