Stayed here 3 nights while visiting Split with my husband and parents, and loved it. Location is supreme - we were pretty much living in Split, just a few blocks away from Diocletian's palace. The house, courtyard, and accommodations were absolutely beautiful. Loved the decor. Rooms and bathrooms were large and beautifully appointed. This was the only place in our whole trip to Croatia that gave us an alarm clock at the bedside! Beds were really comfortable. Booking online with the Cooks was smooth and easy - they were very flexible and accommodating to our schedule. Required to pay a deposit in advance by mailing or faxing a credit card statement. Directions on how to find the hotel (we were coming by car) were not the clearest, but that may just be the nature of the city (street names not clearly labelled, windy alleys, etc). Of note to elderly or disabled tourists, the house is not reachable by car - you park at least a few blocks away and walk. Murray and Cathrine were great - really nice and friendly. They offered great breakfasts (in room or in courtyard), and great advice about places to eat, things to do, and islands to visit. Though not initially offered as an option, when we asked, they also helped us find street parking for our car so we didn't have to pay to keep it in a lot. Only negative is that the shower ran out of hot water after 6 minutes. I thought the first time was a fluke because my husband had just showered, so I timed it the second time, and it really was just 6 minutes. Then it took at least 45 minutes for the water to warm enough for the second person to shower. Happened in my parents' room, too. We were able to work around it by turning off the water when soaping up and shampooing, so it was fine, but not ideal. The Cooks seemed surprised that this had happened, but since it happened to all of us every day we were there, I would be surprised if that were the first time! That was the only negative thing, and I still loved staying there. Overall, it was an excellent place from which to explore Split.
