We stayed our first night in Croatia at this hotel. The hotels suggestion to book a pick up from the airport and hold the car rental for the next day, proved to be a very good advice. Their driver was polite and helpful, he commented on places and buildings during the drive and carried our luggage from the street to the hotel - a bit off the street. As this was a very warm day, the service was very welcome. The welcome at this small hotel was very friendly, very professional. The rooms were OK and the breakfast very nice with a good variety of food. When I booked, I wanted a triple room. As this was not possible, I got an offer for two dbl rooms for three persons at a special discount rate. Being in the peak season, they would not have had to do this, I thought it a very nice gesture. The place had a nice feel to it and we would certainly love to stay there again. It is very well placed inside the UNESCO site.

This hotel is a genuine boutique luxury hotel in an unbelievably beautiful and convenient location. The service is impeccable from the welcome to the breakfast to advice and help with just about anything. Breakfast outside in the courtyard is a particular highlight. This is a really first class establishment that feels about as close to a home from home as you can get. Fantastic. Congratulations!

Getting your bags to the hotel from the bus station can be a really pain. I am sure that if you call ahead and ask, the staff can help. I wish we had thought about this at the time...

Stayed in the Villa Dobric in the old town just outside the Palace Gate. Great location within easy walking of all the sites and the ferry terminals. The staff were exceptionally helpful, they met us from the taxi and guided us through the narrow alleys, got our onward ferry tickets for us, recommended places to eat and found a "special" beer from the cafe downstairs for us. Room was lovely, quiet and comfortable with good air conditioning. Hotel has wifi and the rooms have a safe. Nice, casual breakfast on the terrace.

What can I say - sensational service! Arrived late in car (a bit hard to find the Hotel tucked in the middle of the Roman Palace) so was a long walk away. Hot! Hotel insisted they come and get our heavy cases, chatted all the way there and back, showed us some interesting things on the way and carried up the steps etc. Sorted out the returning of our hire car - went out of their way to help day after day! Fantastic setting - breakfast in the outside courtyard in the middle of the Roman buildings was great!
Room really interesting - mixing in modern with history. Air Con worked just fine! Breakfast perfect! Non stop helpful and service best we had in 5 weeks travelling. Had such a great feeling just being there and looked after so well. We are raving fans of this boutique Hotel!

We stayed in the annex building, villa dobric which is a 200+ metre walk from the main hotel . The annex was cheaper. Location is fantastic to explore split. The rooms were modern but a bit small. Breakfast was a cold meat platter. Would have liked to have stayed in the main hotel as it looked amazing.

We stayed in the main hotel within the walls of Diocletian's Palace. The staff were friendly, energetic, and extremely helpful (parking and retrieving our car and fixing our safe). Our room (number 6, with a creatively designed upstairs sleeping platform) had a Roman wall breaking into it, which doesn't happen everywhere... The breakfast buffet was beautifully presented, with good coffee and an outstanding selection of fruit, vegetables, cold meats and cheese, cereals and bread for a very small hotel, and we ate in the courtyard just behind the "Vestibule" of the Palace, accompanied by the daily a capella singing from the local folk singers. Truly special.

A word of advice though... during the festival, the Roman peristyle - the square outside the cathedral - is used for performances, and the standard way into the hotel becomes inaccessible. You need to pass behind the cathedral towards the Eastern and then the Southern edge of the palace to get to the hotel.

Room Tip: We'd recommend the apartment room 6..

We knew when we made our booking that we would be staying in the "Annex" to the main Hotel, which is not an "Annex" at all but more like a separate guest house all together. Whilst the staff were very helpful in carrying our bags the 500 m or so to Villa Dobric in the June heat, we were very disappoined when we arrived at Villa Dobric, to see out tiny room and very basic, depressing breakfast room.

When we complained at the main hotel about the level of luxury at Villa Dobric, which did not seem to be a patch on the main hotel, we were told that all the rooms are small and equally luxurious. We were also offered breakfast at the main hotel, instead of at Villa Dobric, which is usually 10 Euro extra but which they would give to us free of charge. When we checked out, after paying and leaving, we established that we were actually charged 10 Euros for each breakfast we had at the main hotel!

I would not recommend staying at Villa Dobric at all. Whilst the location is very nice and central, it is not worth what you pay. There is also a drain pipe in the area that smells terribly. This smell drifts up to your room at night, and is quite disturbing. We visited friends of ours who stayed at the Radisson Blue, and this seemed like much better value for money.
