“The best hotel we've ever stayed in”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 July 2014

It's been a year but I absolutely must go back and review the single best hotel experience we've ever had.

Vestibul Palace is in between the emperor's living area and his square, and that's appropriate because staying here makes you feel like royalty.

We chose to have limo service pick us up from the airport. We were greeted by an extremely friendly driver, fluent in English (most if not all staff were), who refused to let us carry our own bags once we arrived - even though they were two large packs. You have to walk into Diocletian's Palace a few minutes to get to the hotel and it's a magical entrance indeed.

The location of the hotel is breathtaking. Diocletian's was one of the most beautiful landmarks we saw in our 31 days in Europe and the sea just outside the walls, along with waterfront businesses, were equally as inviting. Seconds from the hotel, a capella singers belt out impressive harmonies which is incredibly romantic. Some had complained before that it wakes you up but it's kept out quite well with windows closed, you should always travel with ear plugs, and to be honest I quite enjoyed forgoing both and starting my day with those incredible voices!

The service of the hotel was above and beyond what you could hope for. With only a handful of rooms, everyone knows you and is incredibly helpful and friendly with every tiny interaction. Whether it was insisting on cooking us a custom omelette after breakfast service just ended, waking up at 5:00 to go buy us catamaran tickets, accompanying us to the dock with our heavy bags, or anything else we could possibly need - the staff was at your full service and beaming with happiness to be so.

The room was comfortable, well appropriated, and my favorite mix of modern and historic. Some of the original walls that housed roman emperors were part of our enclosure, and used in such a way that worked so well with the modern decor.

Breakfast was amazing, the hotel felt completely safe and secure at all times, and I felt like every penny spent was spent well. It's a splurge, to be sure, but if you're going to do it - this is the place. You can get luxury and boutique everywhere but it's rare to have that combination inside the walls of a UNESCO World Heritage site. Thank you for an amazing experience!

Room Tip: Stay in the main building. You're already spending the money so get the full experience!

Unique, that is all I can say. Unique location, in the palace walls, unique room decor and levels of comfort, and a unique level of service and politeness. I have now stayed here three times, and each time it has been just a lovely experience.

The choice of the location, the training of the staff and the immaculate service standard all shouts quality and tastefulness.

The hospitality is great and there is absolutely no bone to pick for a hotel like this.

Arrived by car from Zadar . Hotel is in the Diocletian s Palace, inside the walls of Split.

Booked and received a suite ( 3 ) in the first floor ).

The suite is nice ,a good bathroom ,separate shower and bathtub and separate toilet.
Good matress in the bed .
Robes and shower towels are fluffy
Air conditioning is a little noisy.
Good sound insolation, considering you re in a very old palace
Normal view from the suite .
Breakfast is normal.
They have their own car park for ehich you pay 13,50 € a day

Everybody in the hotel, from Tihana Besker and Margarita Dvornik in the reception, the waiters at breakfast room and at dinner, the porters ,are VERY attentive and pay full attention to all your needs

On check out it was raining, they pick my car,put all the luggage and then escorted me to the car

It s a hotel that makes you want to go back!

Well located hotel right in the Emperor's Palace ruins. You could even hear singers practicing in an old dome right outside the reception.

The only bummer for us was that our room was actually in an annex building about a 3 minute walk from the main building. This meant a little walk in the morning to get breakfast and also a little feeling of isolation.

The room was fine, not luxurious. Really this hotel is all about being located right in the historic center. Wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else.

I can't praise the staff at this hotel enough. We traveled with our almost-three-year-old son, and were extremely pleased with the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff at Hotel Vestibul Palace. I had some health issues come up on our vacation, and they very willingly took care of making an appointment for me with a local private clinic, and even drove me there. Nothing was too much of a problem. The location of the hotel was excellent, and the bells ringing in the morning didn't seem to bother our son, thankfully. (They rang at 6am and 7am, I believe.) The hotel was beautiful and clean, and very small—seven rooms, maybe? It certainly had more of a family atmosphere than most hotels. We had a decent meal at the restaurant, but it was nothing to praise too highly. Breakfast was good though, and we ate our fill of it every day. If we hadn't been staying with our son who goes to bed around 8:30, we would have enjoyed the live music every evening very close to the hotel in a town square (you can hear it well from your room). Lots of people enjoying the music, eating, drinking and dancing. A great atmosphere.

Not only that it is actually a part of ancient Diocletian's palace and you can touch the history in your very room, the location is in the heart of the old city. It means you can wander out straight to the cobbled streets for a meal, drink, visit the fruit and fish market or just to explore the sights. But location is far from the real appeal: there are only few rooms kept in perfect shape and the service is as if it were all there just for you and there were no other guests. They expect you in the afternoon with homemade cookies and tea or run after you with umbrella when it starts raining.
Since my husband often travels there on business I love to accompany him and enjoy the city. First we stayed there for the location, now we go to Peristil for its charm. Straight on our second visit we were accepted as regular guests and there is always something we can cherish (it's all in littele things) and that makes us revisit again and again.

Room Tip: There is no special view of the sea or something that would make any room better than the other. All...
