An great boutique hotel in the center of it all. Beautiful modern design built into an existing building. There is no elevator due to its UNISCO status. Visitors with physical limitations should ask for a lower floor room. Warm and helpful service,

Nice hotel in the middle of Diocletian's Palace in the heart of Split. If location is what you are going for, this is it. This hotel has all the modern conveniences. The rooms are first rate, clean, and the hotel staff is top-notch. The room price includes free wifi and a nice full service breakfast. The hotel is central to everything happening inside the Palace and outside in the heart of Split. You can't beat the location.

There are a couple of drawbacks to be aware of, however, if you plan on staying at a hotel inside the Palace. On the night we stayed we were woken up a couple of time by trumpeters practicing their fanfare before an opera performance inside the Palace (10:30pm and 12 midnight). In the morning we were woken up by jack-hammering (about 7:30am) which was due to some construction next door. Yes - it appears even after almost 2000 years they are still building Diocletian's Palace.

So if you want a good nights rest this might not be the place. And that's not their fault. If you are looking for a first rate place to stay in the middle of the action within walking distance to everything you would want to do and see in Split, this is it.

Room Tip: If you want a good nights sleep as for a room that does not face the front of the hotel.

Stayed for 2 nights, at end of June. Service, from welcome at arrival to helping with the bags at the end, was what you'd expect from a great hotel. All the staff were professional, helpful and well-informed. Breakfast on the area at the front of the hotel was a bit like being an exhibit in a museum, as guided parties were led through the square, the guides pointing out the hotel, and citing over-exaggerated room rates for impact! Breakfast itself was good, good range, relaxed atmosphere, and great just to sit in the sun, and see the city waking up!
Only downside of the stay was the building work that was going on in the street directly below our room, but clearly the hotel can't do much about this.
All in the stay in Split was a great experience, and the hotel was a big positive in that.

Let me start with the two amazing hings about this hotel; (1) the amazing service - staff went out of their way to help us and (2) the location - can't be better in Split.

Having said that I still left with a bit of a hang-over. I booked the hotel based on the photo's and the description of the property I couldn't wait to get there. Little had a realised that I had booked the 'villa' and that this was 250 meter away from the main hotel I thought i was going to stay. I know that the description indicates that the villa is on a different location, but it was not only the location it was also the room (so small that you could hardly had space to put two suitcases) and the whole ambiance that was different then depicted on the pictures.

This property should be listed as two separate ones. I understand they are managed as one, but they don't look the same nor offer the same and as such don't merit a combined listing.

At the end the staff made up for our experience as they were wonderful but I couldn't stop feeling a bit cheated.

Dear Mr. Paul,
Thank you for this thorough review about hotel. Highly proud of all the staff members it is a great pleasure always to read new reviews saying they are doing the right job. I regret you did not realize you have booked the annex building, Villa Dobric, as we always clearly state in the reservation process and confirmation it's the separate building. Having only 4 rooms, Villa has less expensive rates than main building of the hotel, difference is up to 30%. Thank you for letting us know this, and we hope you will have a chance to come back, and possibly to experience the main building of the hotel.
Best regards, Boris Dusa

It's been a year but I absolutely must go back and review the single best hotel experience we've ever had.

Vestibul Palace is in between the emperor's living area and his square, and that's appropriate because staying here makes you feel like royalty.

We chose to have limo service pick us up from the airport. We were greeted by an extremely friendly driver, fluent in English (most if not all staff were), who refused to let us carry our own bags once we arrived - even though they were two large packs. You have to walk into Diocletian's Palace a few minutes to get to the hotel and it's a magical entrance indeed.

The location of the hotel is breathtaking. Diocletian's was one of the most beautiful landmarks we saw in our 31 days in Europe and the sea just outside the walls, along with waterfront businesses, were equally as inviting. Seconds from the hotel, a capella singers belt out impressive harmonies which is incredibly romantic. Some had complained before that it wakes you up but it's kept out quite well with windows closed, you should always travel with ear plugs, and to be honest I quite enjoyed forgoing both and starting my day with those incredible voices!

The service of the hotel was above and beyond what you could hope for. With only a handful of rooms, everyone knows you and is incredibly helpful and friendly with every tiny interaction. Whether it was insisting on cooking us a custom omelette after breakfast service just ended, waking up at 5:00 to go buy us catamaran tickets, accompanying us to the dock with our heavy bags, or anything else we could possibly need - the staff was at your full service and beaming with happiness to be so.

The room was comfortable, well appropriated, and my favorite mix of modern and historic. Some of the original walls that housed roman emperors were part of our enclosure, and used in such a way that worked so well with the modern decor.

Breakfast was amazing, the hotel felt completely safe and secure at all times, and I felt like every penny spent was spent well. It's a splurge, to be sure, but if you're going to do it - this is the place. You can get luxury and boutique everywhere but it's rare to have that combination inside the walls of a UNESCO World Heritage site. Thank you for an amazing experience!

Room Tip: Stay in the main building. You're already spending the money so get the full experience!

Unique, that is all I can say. Unique location, in the palace walls, unique room decor and levels of comfort, and a unique level of service and politeness. I have now stayed here three times, and each time it has been just a lovely experience.

The choice of the location, the training of the staff and the immaculate service standard all shouts quality and tastefulness.

The hospitality is great and there is absolutely no bone to pick for a hotel like this.
