Me and my husband spent a night here last febbruary. We stayed in and anex part of the hotel. This was not a problem at all. The annex part has a great location in the Diocletian palace. I think they have just 4 rooms there. The room was small but had everything we needed. The bathroom was nice, clean and spacious. The staff was kind and helpfulls. The breakfast was somewhat simple but sufficent.

We were driving to the hotel, and because both buildings are located in pedestrian zones, it was necessary to phone the hotel and liaise with them about what to do with the car.
Unfortunately we were tired and a bit irritable so the three phonecall process that it took to be directed to the carpark and be met by hotel guide was not much fun.
Things improved from there as we were efficiently escorted to the new annex of the hotel, which is 300M from the location of the main building. Our room inside the historic building had a contemporary minimalist feel, and was over two storeys. Bedroom, bathroom and living room were all pretty small but making the best of the central location I guess. I was a bit surprised to see the loos seat had a huge crack through three quarters of the length of it. Made me wonder how hygenic that would be. The soaps and shampoos smelt absolutely fantastic.
The next day we walked to the main hotel for breakfast under their umbrellas in a courtyard, which was a great setting. I loved the Klapa male acapella singers with my cup of tea. The breakfast buffet wasn't actually particularly great, but the environment was pleasant.

Great hotel. The staff is terrific. Friendly and helpful. The location is great. Staying in the annex is great, not a problem at all. I would stay here every time. Breakfast is included and is good. The rooms are large and very clean. One of the staff members told us all about life in Split which was interesting.

An great boutique hotel in the center of it all. Beautiful modern design built into an existing building. There is no elevator due to its UNISCO status. Visitors with physical limitations should ask for a lower floor room. Warm and helpful service,

Nice hotel in the middle of Diocletian's Palace in the heart of Split. If location is what you are going for, this is it. This hotel has all the modern conveniences. The rooms are first rate, clean, and the hotel staff is top-notch. The room price includes free wifi and a nice full service breakfast. The hotel is central to everything happening inside the Palace and outside in the heart of Split. You can't beat the location.

There are a couple of drawbacks to be aware of, however, if you plan on staying at a hotel inside the Palace. On the night we stayed we were woken up a couple of time by trumpeters practicing their fanfare before an opera performance inside the Palace (10:30pm and 12 midnight). In the morning we were woken up by jack-hammering (about 7:30am) which was due to some construction next door. Yes - it appears even after almost 2000 years they are still building Diocletian's Palace.

So if you want a good nights rest this might not be the place. And that's not their fault. If you are looking for a first rate place to stay in the middle of the action within walking distance to everything you would want to do and see in Split, this is it.

Room Tip: If you want a good nights sleep as for a room that does not face the front of the hotel.

Stayed for 2 nights, at end of June. Service, from welcome at arrival to helping with the bags at the end, was what you'd expect from a great hotel. All the staff were professional, helpful and well-informed. Breakfast on the area at the front of the hotel was a bit like being an exhibit in a museum, as guided parties were led through the square, the guides pointing out the hotel, and citing over-exaggerated room rates for impact! Breakfast itself was good, good range, relaxed atmosphere, and great just to sit in the sun, and see the city waking up!
Only downside of the stay was the building work that was going on in the street directly below our room, but clearly the hotel can't do much about this.
All in the stay in Split was a great experience, and the hotel was a big positive in that.

Let me start with the two amazing hings about this hotel; (1) the amazing service - staff went out of their way to help us and (2) the location - can't be better in Split.

Having said that I still left with a bit of a hang-over. I booked the hotel based on the photo's and the description of the property I couldn't wait to get there. Little had a realised that I had booked the 'villa' and that this was 250 meter away from the main hotel I thought i was going to stay. I know that the description indicates that the villa is on a different location, but it was not only the location it was also the room (so small that you could hardly had space to put two suitcases) and the whole ambiance that was different then depicted on the pictures.

This property should be listed as two separate ones. I understand they are managed as one, but they don't look the same nor offer the same and as such don't merit a combined listing.

At the end the staff made up for our experience as they were wonderful but I couldn't stop feeling a bit cheated.

Dear Mr. Paul,
Thank you for this thorough review about hotel. Highly proud of all the staff members it is a great pleasure always to read new reviews saying they are doing the right job. I regret you did not realize you have booked the annex building, Villa Dobric, as we always clearly state in the reservation process and confirmation it's the separate building. Having only 4 rooms, Villa has less expensive rates than main building of the hotel, difference is up to 30%. Thank you for letting us know this, and we hope you will have a chance to come back, and possibly to experience the main building of the hotel.
Best regards, Boris Dusa
