It's hard to think of enough superlatives. An incredible location right inside the 1700 yr old palace, a superb, discreet and yet helpful staff absolutely intent on giving the best experience of the town and area. Rooms are reasonably spacious, but there is something indescribable about going to bed in a 1700 year old room. You're right in the center of town, a short walk from the vegetable and fish markets, both well worth a visit. The 'Riva' promenade is teeming with coffee and pastry shops and a great place to hang out after (late) dinner.
Parking is a bit of an issue, but the hotel staff took care of the car.
Definitely give this hotel a try if you are in the area.

Absolutely fantastic little gem of a hotel. The location in the middle of the palace is unbeatable. Staff are more than friendly and very helpful in every regard - as we returned to the hotel quite late one night after dinner they opened up the bar again and catered to our every wish until two in the morning, not to mention that there is a pick-up service at the city parking lot including transportation of luggage to the hotel.
The rooms are of absolutely decent size, the decor is really something with the mixture of clean and cool designed furniture and the rough hewn walls of the old building. This place is my favorite hotel in Split.

We stayed one night at the Vestibul Palace in Split enroute from Dubrovnik to Hvar. What a pleasant surprise the hotel and Split were! The hotel is right in the Palace so the location couldn't be better. The rooms were a little small - that's why only a 4 for rooms - even by European Standard - we were in room 7. However, it was beautifully decorated with modern bathroom fixtures and wonderful linens. The staff were amazing! On the day we were to catch the ferry to Hvar - they got our luggage from our room and drove our car to the ferry lineup so we didn't have to go there until 1/2 hour before the ferry left! That was a first for us. They spoke excellent English and were very helpful in giving dinner suggestions. The night we were there they had a wedding in their small dining room so we couldn't eat dinner there. Breakfast was typical. I think I'd have to say the staff and location are what made it exceptional.

We stayed in the annex Villa Dobric for 2 nights. We would have preferred the main hotel, but the location of Villa Dobric does not disappoint, being in the old town just a minute or so from the palace walls.

The hotel is beautifully designed, modern and sleek with excellent amenities and good beds, pillows and linenes. The Villa is very quiet.

Breakfast is also excellent, having a continental breakfast at the Villa or walking over to the main building for a wonderful "real" breakfast. (Go to the main hotel and eat outside- weather permitting)

Exceptionally nice and helpful staff. Bravo on customer service.

The small size of the room was somewhat difficult and it did not have adequate room for luggage.Additionally it should be kept in mind that there is no elevator, so baggage can be a problem- although the staff is more than willing to help.Luckily we were on the second floor- so only had 2 flights of stairs.

Other reviewers have said it is hard to find and certainly has no parking. All true. But that is the price you pay to be in the old town. When we arrived by car ferry from Hvar, we simply pulled into the expensive public lot and while my husband waited with the car and too much luggage, I went in search of the hotel, which while somewhat difficult to find, at least I was not lugging my bags around.. The hotel promptly sent a bell person to help us with the luggage, show us to the Villa and take our car.No problem- and again that is the staff's response to various requests- no problem..(Make reservations for parking- it is expensive but worth it).

Sitting in the heart of the Diocletian Palace this place is a little gem; very friendly and helpful staff and were of great assistance in helping to trace my missing baggage. We actually stayed in the Villa Dobric which is a 5 minute walk from the Vestibul; we felt for the porter who had to lug our bags around the maze that is the Diocletian palace and various steps/staircases encountered. Great location in the heart of the old city and perfect for a romantic break for 2. Rooms weren't the largest but the fitout was pretty impressive and everything was spotlessly clean. All in all a lovely location.

The Vestibul Palace has the most central locaton you could hope for, but it's still a bit of a struggle to find. In fact, I'm ashamed to say we had to call the hotel for directions - at which point they dispatched a member of staff to come and find us and walk us there. Great customer service, but a bit embarrassing!
Once we were there (and it's really not that hard to find once you know where you are going) we were pleased with what we found. The room wasn't huge, but it was modern and spotless. The location is simply superb - the hotel is in the Palace grounds and everything is right on your doorstep. We didn't get up early enough to sample the breakfast, but from what we saw it looked nice. I'd query whether the Vestibul is quite luxurious enough to justify the price, but if you don't mind paying slightly over the odds it's a really nice place.

We LOVED this hotel. We had been traveling through Croatia and her islands for a week and ended in Split. This was by far our favorite hotel on this trip. It was the most luxurious we stayed in and the staff was beyond helpful. In fact, we wished we had spent more time here.
