“Industrial area - bad position”
Reviewed 17 September 2013 via mobile

This is a reasonably new hotel located in the industrial area of Split - a taxi trip into the main part of town. Certainly not in an area that you would feel comfortable walking in at night - did not particularly feel at ease walking there during the weekend when most places nearby were closed.

Although fairly new, the rooms were not maintained as you would expect. The carpet was dirty - there was a water leak near the bathroom, carpet looked as if it had been scrubbed there before we arrived, leaving a large damp brown area on the light green carpet. However it gradually became wetter during our stay - appeared to be a leak underneath the carpet. The toilet also was not sitting firmly, having slight movement in it, the air conditioning did not work properly & the beds set in a wooden frame.

We were on a bus tour, which included 2 nights in Split and dinner there the 1st night. This dinner was dreadful. Very ordinary tin soup, spaghetti bolognese - very limited sauce and tinned fruit salad for sweets with no cream or ice cream.
Breakfast was a bit better but only marginally.

The staff gave the impression that they did not want to be there and that guests were nothing but a nuisance.

One very good point was the WiFi system which was excellent and easily accessible in each room.

The air conditioning was not cooling suitably. Inspite of complaining our team had to spend nights sweating.
The hotel has no business centre.
The front desk is not manned after 2100 hours . I checked in at midnight & I had hell speaking to the waiter who was keeping vigil at the main enterance to get into my room.
Food was tasting good . If at all one arrived after 0730 for breakfast most of the items were exhausted as big toursist groups use this as a one night halt in transit , who have breakfast early & leave the place messy , emptying all food as well.

Room Tip: "Rooms on the south side are quieter"

The hotel was very isolated.
No reception staff after 9pm.
No concierge or ANY help with arranging anything. Not even a taxi.
There water wasn't hot. The carpet wasn't clean. There was still hair on the carpet two days after I had checked in.
Messages weren't passed on.
No mini bar. No restaurant.
The breakfast buffet was a joke. The orange juice was watered down to such an extent you couldn't taste any orange.
The hot food was late in arriving and taken away early.
There was no convenient public transport.
The reception staff gave no help re local restaurants. Except for one staff member who loaned us their umbrella, the staff were most unhelpful and unaccomodating. If the hotel didn't have free WiFi I wouldn't even give it a one!

We stayed over a night with a tour group in this hotel and were very grateful it was only one night. The hotel inside was clean and well appointed but seemed geared towards business travellers and NOT leisure travellers. It is not beuatiful or attractive in any way.

It's location is bad in an industrial type area of Split and far from the beautiful city centre. It's best to keep your room curtains closed as the views are of adjoining buildings - ours was of the car park. Luckily we had a tour bus which took us into Split at night (an experience I highly reccommend) but if we were travelling without the group we would have been stuck in that ugly hotel and area all night.

The food was atrocious! For dinner we were served soup as starters (which tasted pre-bought in a can), meat as mains which was unrecognisable as meat and so tough you had to leave half on your plate and two scoops of ice cream as dessert (not very good ice cream at that). It was really a hotel taking advantage of a tour group! Breakfast was average at best.

I'd really reccomend leisure travellers steer clear of this hotel!

This hotel looks like it was an old renovated warehouse like the warehouse situated across from it. There is no atmosphere what so ever. The rooms are large and clean. The bed was very uncomfortable. The breakfast was terrible. Your view from the room is a warehouse. There is nothing around the area (except warehouses) so you have to go into Split which is about 3 km away. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Sorry there is no nice rooms with a view. You are in a commercial area.

We asked for a non-smoking room, but they stuck us in a smoking room, and then didn't have any non-smoking rooms available, so we were stuck. The air conditioning didn't really work and it was warm outside and therefore warm in the room. Not close to town or public transportation to get into town. Carpet was very dirty and the wifi was down. Hairdryer was one of those vacuum looking things that burns your hands without drying your hair. Ventilation was leaking in the hall. The dark curtains did keep out the early morning sunshine, which did help us sleep, but that's about the only good thing I can say.

Hotel is located in residential zone of Split, aprox. 3 km away from Riva (city center), but it is ideal if you have rent-a-car. taxi to city cost you aprox 10 euros.
Rooms are newly furnished, modern design and quite spacious, bathrooms are quite big and wi/fi is FOC and accessible in rooms. hotel is super clean, staff efficient and polite, open buffet breakfast is ok.
if you are in short visit or business trip to Split, this is hotel you are looking for, if you plan summer vacation, choose other hotel.
