We would definitely recommend this apartment. We loved our stay on Kolocep!
The owners could not have been more helpful or friendly, even meeting us off the boat when we arrived. The setting is lovely and peaceful, with sea views and surrounded by citrus trees. It is a two minute walk to the small beach, where there is a beach bar, with friendly staff and a lovely fish restaurant. There is a good path between Gornje Celo, where the apartment was and Donje Celo which is across the island and about a twenty minute stroll in the heat. At Donje Celo there are a couple of bars, a couple of restaurants, a hotel, gift shop, post office and convenience store and beach. The restaurants and bars all do great food.
The apartment itself is new to rental, so was kitted out with lovely new bed linen, towels, kitchen utensils, etc. The rooms are all painted white, with shutters to help keep them cool. The air conditioning was amazing! The bedrooms are all spacious, the double beds are huge! The living spaces are less spacious, but serve their purpose! ( My only suggestion to the owners would be to remove the large cupboard from the lounge and try and fit in another sofa?!) The kitchen and bathroom were quirky and traditional, but perfectly clean and functional. The kitchen has a new fridge/freezer, table and chairs. As a new let, it could probably do with a few more varied utensils, wine glasses, cutting boards, but what is there is sufficient to get by. The outside terrace, with table and chairs, is not directly accessible from the apartment rooms, it is located below the living room, it is shaded by a covering of kiwi fruits...which unfortunately weren't ripe at the time of our visit!
This was our first visit to Croatia, and we loved the easy way of life on the island...if you wanted fresh bread you had to walk across the island mid morning when it came in on the ferry and the shop was stocked up! You can buy most things on the island, or do a big shop near the ferry in Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik itself is amazing, the old city is beautiful. The ferries are really cheap, and the crossing is 30 minutes.
If we decide to revisit Kolocep again, we would definitely consider staying in this apartment, and without hesitation would recommend it to others!
