Day trip from Dubrovnik with Jadrolinija ferry. Went here for hiking, but the trails were in a bad condition at some places and we saw a snake (not the poisonous one this time), so we ended up just walking the paved roads from town to town. The routes to beaches outside the towns were also in bad condition so we could not try them. There are good restaurants in both towns.

Stayed for 5 days at hotel sipan which has an ATM. Lovely hotel with comfortable clean rooms and friendly helpful staff.Sipanska Luka is a harbour with 4 restaurants and 2 bars which get their business from the hotel but mainly from the island hopping yachts that moor at night. Great place for a total switch off holiday. It is possible to hire bikes, go walking and go sea kayaking for the more energetic and there is a diving centre. The beach is pebble/sand a 5 minute walk from the hotel and you swim in clear blue water.

You can travel from Dubrovnik to Sipanska Luka daily via the G&V line ferry or by the more frequent Jadrolinija ferries to Sudurad (the other port) via the other 2 Islands (lopud and kolocep) take the 10 minute bus to Sipanska Luka which terminates by the hotel. Sudurad has it's own restaurants and beaches which we didn't try but we did walk from Sudurad to Sipanska.
An idyllic location which we will visit again.
If staying in Sudurad suggest Hotel Bosica which has swimming pool and reclining seats on its own beach.

Home to several artists, pristine ambient and great vistas abound. Come in on a smaller boat and take to me sailing around e is land...sit in a quite "konoba" (simple restaurant) for some basic food. Stay away from the port as it typically provides for cheap touristy establishments..

We anchored at Luka on Sipan island for 1 night. It was a highlight of our trip. The bay was clean and the water was crystal clear. Our boys swam for hours. We went ashore and a local man helped us to moor our dingy and said he would kobe if for us if a bigger boat arrived. There was a gorgeous little gift shop with the best hand made gifts I've found in Croatia. We hiked up the hill behind the village and bought delicious home made preserves from a local home. The scenery was magnificent. We arrived back in the village in time for dinner and dined at a wonderful waterfront restaurant. The fish was fresh off the boat and cooked to perfection on wood fire. We slept peacefully in the quiet bay.
What a heavenly place!

Later in the week we sailed into Surdabab (sp?) on the other side of Sipan. This was a busier and more bustling little port . . . Magnificent views, lovely cafes, locally made lace sold by the lady who makes it, great art gallery, a lovely walk in the hills and snorkeling in a bay on the way in. Heaven!

We went here for my 60th birthday as a day trip from Lopud. We arrived at the harbour and got on the bus to take to the other side of the island. What a delightful place. A natural harbour with a curved promenade with cafes and a wonderful seafood restaurant. A cement path takes you to a lovely little stony beach with the clearest of water, we saw only 1 family, 1 couple only at this beach, this at the end of June.

There is a small hotel at this side of the island which looked to be fairly new. This is a yachties' haven and the restaurant we dined in was some of the best seafood I've had for many years. It was a simple place on the left hand side as you get off the bus, it's the only one there so you can't miss it. Service amazing, sitting on the side of the water and no menu. Would Madam like Fish or Meat! They brought what they had caught and it was all amazing.

When I say gloriously unspoilt I am referring to the far side of the island, not where the ferry comes in. This is full of ferries coming with day trippers who come off the ferry in a conga line, walk around to the point and then return 15 minutes later to get back on the ferry.

YOu could spend a couple of days on here and totally chill out.
