“Great location if you're going on a sail cruise”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

Hotel Petka is located right across the street from the harbor and because we were about to take a 5 night sail croatia cruise around the islands it was a great place to stay before leaving dubrovnik.

Its only about a 15 minute walk to Dubrovnik's stunning old-town or about a 5-10 minute bus ride from the bus stop just outside the hotel.

The waterfront is absolutely gorgeous, its so easy to get a relatively cheap & nice meal near the water and its not far (ten mins) to walk to Lapad beach to spend the day.

Hotel Petka itself is a clean and comfortable hotel, decent breakfast and rooms. The rooms are a little small but if you're in Dubrovnik it doesn't matter! There's so much to see so you shouldn't be in your room.

Room Tip: Try and get a room facing the harbor, We didn't however our room was facing up towards the rolli...

The hotel is located on the waterside and is walking distance from the port. The staff is a bit abrupt and unwilling to accommodate requests, specially the waiting staff, may be because of language barrier. The Wifi signal on some floors is very weak.

I stayed a night with my friend before our island hopping your started the next day. Great location just across from the harbour, so we walked to find our boat the next morning. The on site restaurant was great too, beautiful fresh food, it was definitely welcomed after our hours of traveling to get to Dubrovnik. Breakfast was good too, a wide selection of foods, different eggs etc, we filled up for the day. Would definitely recommend staying here, especially if you need close access to the harbour.

The hotel wasn't bad. It was outside of the main tourist strip but the room was clean and the AC worked as well as the pricing wasn't bad!!!! The location is good if you have a rental car or don't mind walking a few miles.

Just spent a week at the Hotel Petka in Dubrovnik with my sister in law. When we arrived, we were surprised how small our room was.Several people had mentioned it in their reviews, but it appeared to be pot luck and it seemed that we were just unlucky. However we found out that this is not the case. The rooms at the front of the hotel are considerably larger, and also have balconies overlooking the port, but you have to pay extra. If you book a standard room, you end up with a small room at the back of the hotel. We did go to reception on our second day to ask if we could upgrade (at a cost of 10 euros per day), but unfortunately the hotel was fully booked. As it turned out the room did not spoil our holiday. The hotel is very clean. The beds were made every day, the towels were changed daily, and the beds were changed halfway through the week. The room furniture was basic but adequate, and included a fridge, which was stocked with drinks which you had to pay for. We bought our own from a kiosk over the road and kept it in the fridge. The guys on reception were very helpful, giving us maps and explained about buses, best beaches, where to go etc. The bus to the old town stops just across the road to the hotel and takes about 10 minutes. We did do the walk but Dubrovnik is very hilly and it was very hot in July (that's my excuse anyway), it took us about an hour. The buses cost £1.50 to most places. and run regularly. The breakfast was OK. some attempt at an english breakfast, but plenty of bread, fruit, cereal, jam, eggs, tea and coffee. The hotel has it's own bar / restaurant on the front. We ate there twice and the food was amazing, can definitely recommend the fish platter and the beefsteak (fillet steak). As this hotel is based by the port it does not have a pool or bathing area, and tends to be used more by travellers for short stays, however it is perfectly located for a longer stay. We went to a Copacobana beach for the day, again only half hour away on buses. We did have to pay £10 for the use of sun loungers and parasol for the day, but there were toilets and bars and the beach clean and pretty, although stoney not sandy. Apart from the size of the room, we could not fault this hotel. If you go, also try restaurant Porat, just a couple of minutes up the road - best ribeye steak I have ever eaten.

Room Tip: Well worth paying for a seaview to get the extra room space, all rooms at the back are TINY...

We stayed there for only a reason, it is in front of the port.

Service is standard. The young boy works at parking area is scam. Hotel lobby is on upper floor. The boy offers us to carry our bag up. I asked them if there is lift that we can use, they said no with tricky face. I refused their help because i felt like they want tip, and I am right, you could actually get through cafe/restaurant on the street level to use lift to lobby.

room is so-so, not that old. Wi-fi did not work in room.

Breakfast choice is not bad, but bacon is too hard. There seems to be no refill when the food tray is empty.

We loved this hotel on our Croatia tour. It's a solid hotel for a 3* rating.

The meals at this hotel were above average for a 3 star, nothing amazing, but good variety. The restaurant area was large and comfortable.

Rooms:
- The rooms are an OK size. Definitely enough space for a european hotel. We had a great room facing the harbor.
- The balcony is large enough to sit and enjoy the scenery.
- There is air conditioning at this hotel, and it works great!
- Bathrooms are remodeled, clean and functional
- Free Wifi that is easily accessible from the room
- Lots of outlets to charge your gadgets
- Clean!

Location:
- It has a beautiful view of the "new" harbor, which still has old charm from the old looking buildings around the bay
- This is where the cruise ships dock
- Can easily take several bus lines (1A, 1B, 1C) to the old city and back (12 Kuna each way if you buy from the news stand instead of from the bus driver (15 kuna). About a 5 minute bus ride.

There are also decent exchange rates available at the front desk if you need to change money.

Room Tip: See if you can get a room that faces the harbor!
