I have made a few personal comparisons to the Hotel Bellevue at the bottom of this review if you are struggling to choose between them, hope it helps!)
We were very warmly welcomed to this beautiful hotel. Concierge came out to the taxi as soon as we arrived and carried our bags in. My bf had e-mailed and asked for a bouquet of flowers in the room for me, and whoever chose them did so well, absolutely beautiful. We were upgraded to the Deluxe Room (I don't know why, but I won't complain!), and this room is stunning. The bathroom is one of the nicest I have ever seen in a hotel. Everything spotless. A really nice fresh fruit platter and bottle of water waiting for us, which was complimentary (see below for Bellevue comparison).
Contrary to one of the previous reviews, we had a view of the port. Perhaps this is the only room with a "sea" view, but they are wrong to say none of the rooms face this way as ours did. Windows on the other side had a peek of the pool area.
The lady on reception (whose name I cannot remember) was so helpful every morning. She deserves a pay rise as she is, in my opinion, the epitome of excellent service.
Breakfast is in the courtyard, where we were brought a selection of fresh fruit, cheese, meats, bread, pastries, jams etc...and offered a choice of eggs (poached, omelette, boiled etc).
The pool area is lovely, a little sun trap. Loungers have mattress toppers (much more comfy than others!). Lovely space to spend an afternoon. There is a drinks service, although we didn't actually see how you would order without going to reception to find someone, but another couple seemed to manage fine so maybe we missed something. The pool is divine, not sure if it's heated because it was a lovely temperature. There is a little jacuzzi area (niggle #1, we couldn't get the bubbles to work!! We didn't ask anyone so maybe we were doing it wrong...).
You do need to do a tiny bit of walking (10 minutes tops) to the bus, and it's occasionally crowded, but most the hotels are in Lapad so I don't think that's a negative to the Kazbek. Bellevue is closer to the Old Town but a longer walk as you don't take the bus.
#1 jacuzzi, see above.
#2 bathroom toiletries : a nice selection, unfortunately the manicure set and make-up pad boxes were empty and the hand cream had definitely been used (it was all manky around the edges). I did not complain at the time as we had been upgraded and it seemed a little rude to do so, but it took the shine off when I realised it.
#3 the terrace bar/cocktail bar : we didn't realise there was a terrace until the second night, but it was empty every night/day (lights off and no-one there), which was a real shame as we would have liked to sit and enjoy a cocktail one night. I wonder if it is too early in the season (a good thing for Dubrovnik!), so perhaps this would have more atmosphere when busier.
All-in-all, VERY tiny niggles.
We went to Korcula for a couple of nights (highly recommend, hire a car and take the ferry!!), we stayed at the Bellevue for our last night. A quick note to compare....the Bellevue is a much bigger, impersonal hotel. We were told every room had a balcony, ours did not. The room is nothing compared to the Kazbek, service is good but lacks personality (and sometimes felt we were an annoyance!)...Bellevue is good (spa, beach, closer to town) but if you want a boutique, smaller (romantic) hotel with outstanding service and beautiful, individual rooms, choose the Kazbek.
