We'd visited this restaurant on our last trip to Dubrovnik in July 2011. It was the best restaurant then and it still is in July 2014. For our first meal we had sea bass which was really lovely: a delicate flavour, simply cooked and not covered in salt which can sometimes be an issue in Croatia. After I had expressed my disappointment that they no longer offered the Croatian fish stew brodetto, at the end of our meal the waitress said they could arrange it for the next evening especially for us. It was wonderful, really tasty and very reasonably priced considering we'd forgotten to check beforehand. The chocolate cake was also very good. We decided to go there the last night of our holiday too and both had excellent steak. It's a popular restaurant so maybe sometimes you have to wait a little bit longer, but it's not a fast food restaurant and aren't all the best things in life worth waiting for.

We visited the restaurant with our three children, and at the door where we were greeted (actually a corridor) we were told that they could make what our children would like if we didn't see it on the menu. They gave us books and toys to amuse our littlest one, which was greatly appreciated. They also gave us extra bread for our kids, also appreciated. The food was good. We liked it because it was a true seafood restaurant that didn't serve french fries with each main course. The side dishes were tasty, and we especially thought the mashed fava beans were delicious. We had the grilled squid and the tuna, which were good. I thought the tuna might have been a little overcooked, but the sea bass fillet was perfect. We also liked the oyster soup. Maybe not the best that we've had, but a good, solid meal. The service was really personable, though, and we really felt like valued customers. Would recommend it to others. We are certainly glad we found it.

I was a little turned off by the owner when he got into a philosophical lecture on the qualities of various wines, but his wine selection was excellent as was the food. My grilled calamari was very tender, and it had the best sauce I've ever had. My husband's tuna was fresh, clean (not a lot of connective tissue which ruins many a tuna steak), and cooked to his liking. The potatoes were flavorful and the bread was great. I used it to mop up the calamari juices. The location was perfect, in a small street inside the walls where we could sit and watch the world go by. We met a lovely couple there and sat and talked while watching the World Cup and never felt rushed. It was the best meal I had in Dubrovinik.

Really disappointed. Menu looked good, but staff bordered on aggressive to disinterested. Waiter sat us down at a filthy dirty table, but only cleared about half the crumbs and detritis away. Another waiter ignored our drinks order. Food, their noodle specialities, wasn't great. Chicken was like rubber, barely any noodles just a few bits of stir fried carrot and salty sauce. Went to so many better places subsequently.

The service was certainly slow and we found that (in line with our experience in Croatia) the waiting staff is rarely friendly, attentive, or welcoming.

We both had the catch of the day, sea bass, which excited us immensely, until the food was served that is. It was okay...just that really. The fish, for some reason, was swimming in oil which ruined the taste but I've had much worse food, so for the price the food actually remains acceptable.

Would I go? Not necessarily but it's actually an okay place to stumble upon.
