“very lovely!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2012

Thanks to Ms. Tonka I and group of my friends had a great two nights stay in Dubrovnik. She is one of the most lovely and helpful person I have ever seen. Everything was thought in details, Little notes in the room made the things even easier. Location is just perfect. there are stairs u need to take that could be tiring but we enjoyed that tiny unique street. City is quite expensive eventough it wasnt the peak season. the top floor has nice small windows and more space but three of the rooms have private toilets, showers, tv, small kitchen with equipments, comfortable double big bed. city is not big and if u r not going for sea sun sand, could be boring after some couple of days point.

Room Tip: top floor has small shower but nice view.

The apartment was fine for a couple of nights stay in the Old Town area of Dubrovnik. Location was great, only two minutes from Stradun and this meant easy access to the city walls, the cable car and the whole old town to just wander around. Also convenient for all of the restaurants.
Although they are apaprtments, the ground floor one has only a small kitchen with twin ring hot plates, a fridge and a kettle. Fine for breakfast or a snack but not really designed for whipping up dinner. But then, you don't need to with the thousand or so restaurant choices just moments away.
Caught the airport shuttle bus (35HVK pp) in to the Pile gate and then it was about a 4 minute walk into the old city and up to the apartment. Carrying luggage up the stairs to the apartment is just one of the the things you have to accept when staying in such a central location. Yes it was hard yakka to lug it up stairs but just do it and then stroll back down to Stradun and have an ice cream!
The room had some nice extras such as WiFi, aircon and a small washing machine. The bed was comfy and quite large.
For the cost, it was comparable to hotel rooms that are a 10 minute bus ride away from the old town, so very competitive.

Room Tip: Higher floors are probably better (but mean yet more steps!!)

We three couples rented all three flats for our two nights in Dubrovnik. The flats were roomy, airy, and clean and equipped with kitchens and bathrooms. While there are 80+ stairs to climb from the Stradun we did not find this to be a big problem, but rather reflective of "life in the old town"! Also, on a cross street partway up, there is a many marvellous cross-street with many great dining options. We shuttle-bused in to Old Town from the airport and the owner met us at the pre-arranged (by e-mail) time on our arrival date. She showed us around and left us with the whole house to ourselves. Absolutely ideal!

The value and location of Apartment Bura are difficult to beat, especially given the other overpriced accommodation in Dubrovnik. Almost all hotels in the Dubrovnik area are NOT located in the Old Town (the reason why droves of tourists flock here). They are located a bus/taxi ride away. It is too far to walk to the old fortress town from nearly all hotels not located within the walls. Apartment Bura is a nice, clean room with a kitchenette, refrigerator, bathroom, and shower. And it is located 100m and a tall flight of stairs from the main pedestrian thoroughfare inside Dubrovnik's old town. There is no TV, but it is a great experience to stay in the old town.

One other suggestion from our experience: Dubrovnik is small and requires only 2 days and 1 night. One day to see the city and a night to experience the ambiance without the hordes of cruise ship passengers. And another day to visit a nearby island or the beaches.

I spent 2 nights at Apartment Bura in July 2010. The apartment was correct, with a little kitchen inside and air-conditioning. It s very well-located, in the center of Dubrovnik Old City, 5 minutes walking from the bus station. It is located in a quiet street. The owner, Tonka, was waiting for us and she was very kind and helpful. I definitely would recomend this apartment.

WeI stayed at Apartment Bura in the Old Town in Dubrovnik. The best points were location (you cant get better, directly inside the Old Town) and the price, $460 Euro for 8 nights. Tonka, the owner was very nice and was there to meet us upon our arrival. The room itself was large, had a bathroom with a small washing machine, along with a small kitchen holding a fridge, hot plate and basic utensils (no kettle or toaster though)..

For the price and the location (being in the Old Town and therefore living like a local), I knew that it would not be the same as a hotel room but I was disappointed with the standard. The king-sized bed was covered by 2 single sheets rather than 1 large one, the top sheets were the same. The doona was more like a large sleeping-bag inside a doona cover and just fit the bed. There were spares of everything, sheets, towels etc but it all seemed mismatched.

The floor was covered with mats which were very old and slightly dirty. The bathroom was a bit rusted in places as was the ktichen. There were no room appliances other than the necessary air conditioner and there was "old" feeling to the room (I know, we were staying in Old Town - I should have expected it!!).

To sum up, my husband was quite happy with the room as he'll sleep anywhere but I have to admit that I am use to hotel rooms. I'd recommend this apartment to backpackers or young couples rather than a married couple in their late 30's. After a few days though, I did get use to the room but initially, I have to say that I was disappointed and kept eyeing the Hilton which was just outside the Old Town!.

PS: I must warn you about the stairs - to get to the room, you have to walk up 80 stairs (tall uneven ones) and 14 landings. In total, we had over 50kgs of luggage which hubbie had to haul up in 30 degree heat. Had I been on my own or with a girlfriend, we'd still be there at the bottom step!.
