Spent a fantastic 4 nights at Fresh* Sheets Hostel at the end of June / start of July this year. Perfect way to kick off my solo backpacking tour of Croatia. Jon was super friendly and the welcome shot at happy hour was a brilliant way to settle on fast ;) Everyone was really friendly and the hostel itself was lovely and clean. I was in the 4 bed dorm named Heaven on the very top floor. It was spacious, clean and had lovely big locker units big enough to hold my 65 litre pack with room to spare! (Bring your own padlock) Breakfast each morning was included and superb. Wifi worked throughout, even all the way up in Heaven! Fresh* is located right next to the Buza bars on the city walls... the directions get you there easily and it is so handy for everything. Perfect location. All in all, if I was to visit Dubrovnik again, I wouldn't hesitate to book up with Fresh* Sheets once more. Thanks guys - I had an awesome stay!!
Lez, Scotland.

Room Tip: The hostel can organise private rooms in nearby houses for couples... probably more privacy there...

This is a great hostel, amazing location in the heart of Dubrovnik, where you can have the city to yourself at night after the cruise ships have departed. (Off season, in April, anyway!) I stayed here with my fiancé and we chose the one private room. It isn't worth it. It's very cramped, musty, and you have to walk through the bathroom to get to it, so it's very noisy with people brushing their teeth and washing up, etc. "Breakfast" is minimal. Toast and cornflakes. We bought eggs at the market and boiled them in a pot on the hostel's hot plate. We expected the staff to be more knowledgable, but they seemed to be just passing through. (Maybe since we were there during off season, late April.) On our return visit at the end of our holiday, we opted to a book a 'neighborhood room' through the hostel. It was located across the street, and was absolutely terrific. Large and airy room and really fun to be in a home. We shared the bathroom with the owners, but it was fine. We actually didn't see them after they had welcomed us and showed us how to use the keys. Easy to go back to the hostel to use the internet. Don't miss having a sunset beer at the place on the cliff nearby, follow the 'Cold Drinks' sign.

i loved fresh sheets!the staff were amazing and treated us brilliantly from start to finish. we had an 8 bed dorm and the heaven room. heaven was a double and a beautiful room! the 8 bed dorm is quite cramped and hot. the location is fantastic right in the old town and has a few cliff top bars near by with great swimming and drinks. If you are travelling alone or as a couple this accommodation would be perfect for you, if you are travelling with a group of people and want to be able to make noise i wouldn't recommend it as there is a 10pm cerfew!this is very strict due to where is hostel is located.

Room Tip: heaven room is stunning for a couple

We stayed at Fresh Sheets in June 2009. I totally disagree with the other reviews that the location is bad. We LOVED staying in the old city, it is the place to be! All of the restaurants, bars etc. plus it is absolutely stunning!
Its true there are lots of stairs and the roads are winding and confusing, but its all worth it! You cannot have a car in the old city (not an inconvenience - this is a fantastic perk in my view) so there is no noise of traffic etc.
Its a bit hard to find, and you do have to carry your luggage, but this is a hostel - isn't that what you're used to when you backpack?
The staff are fantastic! The hostel is a great place to chill out and meet people. The owners (who are Canadian by the way) are super helpful and offer great advice to their guests.
Would highly recommend this place for backpackers of any age who want to meet people!
