“"Simply fantastic!"”

We have just returned from an amazing holiday in Dubrovnik, which was made even more pleasurable by the fantastic Livio & Marilyn, where nothing was too much trouble. During our stay they were like our very own personal chauffeurs & showed us parts of their beautiful city, we never would have seen otherwise. We stayed in room Lukre which was spotlessly clean & had everything we needed, including a fridge, towels & corkscrew!! it was the perfect location for the old town, about 5minutes walk away & a stones throw from the nearest beach. Next time that we stay in Dubrovnik (& we certainly will!!), team Lukre will be seeing us again.Thank you again

I am writing this review because of the customer service I have received from Marilyn and Livio Milic, owners of Apartment & Room Lukre.
I emailed them requesting information and availability of accommodation for my daughter and her girlfriend in August/September this year.
Although they were unable to help us at Room Lukre, they went out of there way to find us similar accommodation and even offered to still collect my daughter from the airport on arrival.
That is what Customer Service is all about.
We will endeavour at some stage in the future to stay and meet with them in Dubrovnik.

Me and my husband stayed there in the room in 2010 and we had a great experience. It´s very close to a wonderful beach and the room was clean and quiet. The host was great when we arrived and at the end of our stay he also drove us to a hill to have a spectacular view of Dubrovnik. I will definiteley stay there again when I come back!

Dubrovnik is an amazing city, and the apartment is a great way to enjoy it. The apartment is very comfortable, clean and convenient to walk to the old city. Marilyn and Livio are also excellent hosts and ambassadors for Croatia. Marilyn met us and helped us out of a parking jam. We signed up for Livio's boat tour which is highly recommended. And if you have Livio drive you to the airport, you will be shown an amazing view of the city. We couldn't have been happier here and hope to return again.

I echo the other positive comments for the 3 star 2bedroom / 1 bath apartment.

Light sleepers will enjoy it here. With the shutters and new double glazed windows closed and the air con on, almost all outside sound is blocked out.

The patio is very nice to sit out and sunbath, look out over the city or enjoy a glass of wine in the evening.

If you arrive by plane, arrange for Livio to pick you up, its reasonably priced and makes getting to the apartment easy.

Another plus for those with heavy luggage, there are only a few stairs down to the apartment.

As I write this I am sitting on the private patio of Apartment Lukre in 35 degrees of sunshine, staring at terra-cotta roofs, castle walls, lush greenery, and grape vines sprawling above my head. This place is perfect. You won't find a better deal in downtown Dubrovnik. My wife and I rented the apartment for ourselves, and feel it was the perfect choice. You are 5 minutes from the gates of old town, grocery stores, Cafes, and everything else you could ever need. The beach is 2 minutes away - which is heaven for cooling down (even though the water is comfortably warm).

Livio (our host) sat down with us on arrival for at least 45 minutes - chatting about any questions we had, advice he could provide, recommendations he might suggest. We felt like we were the first ones who had ever stayed here and like part of his family. We enjoyed him so much we have booked his excursion to Bosnia, which includes numerous stops / sites along the way.

The apartment is fantastic. Completely remodeled, but historic on the outside. Fantastic and strong AC in several rooms, a great kitchen (for saving money and cooking inside), full Internet and sat tv (not that you'll be watching tv), and every other conceivable comfort you could need. The apartment even has international adapters left for your usage, a mini safe, and a great collection of reading material on Croatia, Dubrovnik, history, the language and much more. They really though of everything here. As a final great idea, Livio and his family have left a comments book inside the apartment with a history of travelers who give first hand advice on when / where to go, what to see, where to eat and other personal pieces of info. Very helpful!

We are here in the 2nd week of July for 3 nights and have paid 130 euro per night. This is well worth it in our opinion and you won't be disappointed. We have already recommended to family and friends via email.

Tips:
- do the wall walk before 9 to avoid crowds
- do the convertible bus city tour to easily see more of the greater Dubrovnik area and listen to the included guide as you go around. We always like to learn a little more about that larger area and this proved useful even if touristy.
- do the cable car to the top of the mountain on a one way ticket (50 kuna each), and then walk back down a trail to town. Saves you a few bucks and the walk is easy and enjoyable... Even in the intense heat we had no problem
- do the homeland war museum At the top of the cable car. Gives a great perspective and account of the conflict from a local Croatia perspective
- swim!
- drink at the hidden bars on the seaside / outside areas of the wall. Google these and you will find them. Or else just keep walking and explore until you reach them. There are two.

As a side note, Dubrovnik feels busier than the Trevi fountain in Rome. It is not a hidden destination anymore. Cruise Ships funnel people in via bus after bus after bus after bus. But it doesn't matter. The beauty of the place is amazing. Reasonable prices can be found, but remember, just because it is Croatia doesn't mean you should expect cheap. Almost every attraction, restaurant, or entrance fee was more expensive than reviews said they were - even ones that were posted within the last year. There are a lot of potential customers here, and people willing to pay... So prices don't need to be cheap. That being said, find the Cafes just outside main areas, side streets, hidden away, grocery stores, and you can still pay reasonable prices.

Apartment lukre is fantastic, your hosts are amazing, and Dubrovnik.... Can't be missed. Great experience and we hope to return.

We stayed at Lukre at the begining of June 2012. Our first night was in the room which was perfectly adequate for a coupe of nights and then we stayed for 6 nights in the apartment which was brilliant for just the two of us. We wanted the apartment because of the private terrace although the room has an area you can sit outside it's not private and does not have the view of the old town etc.
The room and apartment are very clean and well maintained and Livio is very proud of his rental rooms and goes out of his way to help and make you feel very comfortable and at home. As well as leaving a bottle of family liquer (it blows your socks off) he also left us a bottle of wine when it was our birthday's while we were there.
I think the top benefit is the location which is just 10 mins. from Old Town and just far enough away to not be affected by the masses of cruise and day trippers in fact it's very secluded down quiet alleys and close to two lovely little coves, also you can go up the hill and over the headland to another 'beach' in the rocks with ladders into sea and a small bar serving drinks only.... few locals and hardly any tourists at all..... we went 3-4 times in the early evening.
Would definately return.

Room Tip: If you can afford it go for the two bed apatment because of the extra room, kitchen and terrace.
