We stayed here for 1 week in june. Highly recommend it if you are on a budget. Excellent value, great views of the city, very helpful ivan & kate. Only downside is 20 min walk to old town.however very close to bus stop and local shops to enjoy drinks on the balcony.

Myself and two friends stayed here in June for 2 nights. Ivan was such a friendly host and picked us up at the bus station free of charge. He gave us a good explanation of transport around Dubrovnik as well as main things to see and do in the city. On arrival he gave us maps of the city and free homemade lemonade and biscuits, which was lovely! Our room was pretty basic but very comfortable and clean and towels and toiletries were provided. There is also a lovely bench on the balcony which you can sit at and look out on the stunning views of Dubrovnik.

It is a 20-25 minute walk (or 5 minute bus journey) from the old town. The only downside (and this will be similar for lots of other places in Dubrovnik as it is a hilly city) was that the hostel is located towards the top of a steep hill so there are many stairs to walk up before reaching the hostel (which is warm temperatures can be difficult!) You can avoid this problem by getting the bus home from the old town which drops you towards the top of the hill.

The acommodation was very affordable and we would not hesitate staying here again! Thanks Ivan!

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Ivan for 3 nights. Ivan was very friendly and helpful in explaining the transportation and shops around the neighbourhood. He even offered to bring our luggage down to meet us at the main bus station which was much appreciated. The room was well furnished and the view from the balcony overlooking the harbour was beautiful! The location to the old town is a 25 minutes easy walk. The bus service runs frequently and takes around 15 minutes. We highly recommend staying at Villa Ivan!

A little late in leaving this review - we actually stayed in June 2011. Ivan and his wife couldn't have been more welcoming and hospitable; whether it was providing us with airport transfers for a very cheap rate, or bringing us ice cream on a particularly hot day! The only reason we haven't given 5 stars is the location - it really is quite a trek from the old town. However, we knew this in advance and getting the bus was really quite simple not to mention cheap. Would definitely recommend!

Put simply, we could not have been more pleased with our week long stay at Villa Ivan. Whilst other reviews have rightly complimented the views of the harbour from the balcony, value for money and ease of access to public transport, it is the kindness and helpfulness of Ivan and Kate that we will remember most. There was a genuine and sincere interest in our having the best time possible in Dubrovnik and this greatly contributed to the overall holiday experience.
