“for me this was a must”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

Having visited Dubrovnik before and after the war this helped me fill in the gap in between. Very moving, when you return to the old town you will be amazed at the reconstruction that has clearly happened. The museum itself is damp and smelt of mould, but it was worth going without a doubt. The price is currently 30 kuna.

“Informative and Interesting”
Reviewed 6 November 2013

We traveled up here with the cable car and the museum was so overwhelming it took us 3 hours to really see everything and read everything. It really explained to me the reason this war happened and the devastation it took on the people of Croatia. Not to be missed if you come to the old city.

“Dubrovnik's history, where it happened”
Reviewed 2 November 2013

That glimmering gem of a city on the Adriatic didn't always look so polished: War ravaged Dubrovnik during the mid '90s, and this museum illustrates the conflict's structural and human impact.

The highlight: a compilation of news reports showing the destruction in Dubrovnik. It was more widespread than you'd think.

The building: The museum is housed in a Napoleon-era fortress that was itself a hard-fought strategic foothold in the war.

Location: The museum is at the top of Mt. Srd, which offers gorgeous views of Dubrovnik. You can get there via cable car or by hiking up the mountain. We hiked; it took about an hour.

Pro tips:
-- Bring cash! Admission is 20 kuna for adults; no credit cards, no Euros.
-- Hungry? A restaurant, Panorama, is next to the cable car station at the top of Mt. Srd. The food is good, if a bit pricey.

“A must see”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

This museum is definitely worth visiting. I had read that the views from here were worth it, however, I went right to the top and didn't find anything out of the ordinary especially when you can go to the viewing platforms for stunning views. I think the museum itself was worth visiting, without the views. It contains much more information on the war and how it affected Croatia than War Photos Limited. It was not only heartbreaking, but also eye opening if you haven't been exposed to what the people went through during the Yugoslav war. Watching the video located down the hall to the left of the entrance is a must. This was time well spent.
