It is a family run residence.
It was a mixed experience. When we arrived, there was no one to welcome you. After few minutes of waiting and trying to find some one in the residence, and no one to pick up the phone number displayed, the neighbors helped. Then we realized that we have to go to another hotel, Lele rooms, which is run by the daughter of Jele. It was bit far from old city and lots of stairs for the luggage. Though they helped to transfer to the new place, there was nothing much in terms of service. The family is busy, and may to be available all the time.
The apartment was very good at Lele rooms, and the kitchen was nice. Bus number 4 connects you with the old city, and no 7 to the bus station or port. The frequency of bus is not very good, may be every 30 min to 1 hr. Remember that the tickets bought outside the bus (in counter) is costs 12 Kuna, while in the bus it is 15 Kuna. The ticket can be used for 1 h or 2 trips. There are some shops, bars and restaurants near by. Enjoy Dubrovnik.

We stayed for 4 nights in July. Jele rooms is run by a mother daughter duo who were exemplary hosts. They own apartments across dubrovnik all within 20min walk of the old town (centre of tourism).

They are more than happy to transfer you to and from the bus/ferry terminal, and generally provide for all your needs, including beach towels!

The owners also sat down with us at the beginning to go through the main sites and excursions in dubrovnik. She had recommendations of excursion company which she informed us in a very non-pushy way.

If you happen to stay at grandma jele's apartment, she has a beautiful fruit garden at the back of the house.

Overall the facilities were fantastic, the A/C was very powerful, the rooms were clean and the view from the apartment we stayed in (the daughters house) was stunning. But most of all we have to mention the hospitality we were showed, which thoroughly exceeded our expectations.

I'm sure this review echos many others and therefore Jele rooms is a must stay if you are in Dubrovnik.

We liked our stay at Jele, the rates, rooms, service. One thing that was completely bothersome was the loudness of the grandmother who lived there, I swear she had no concept of tone.

Hosts were very friendly and helpful and dropped me off at the bus station at the end of my stay. This is a small, family run apartment and as such has a cozy feel about it. I was offered orange juice and biscuits on arrival and given a supply of juice and bottled water to put in my fridge for the few days I was around.
The old city is about 20 minutes walk away, not an unpleasant walk and considering the care with which I was taken and support of my hosts, I much preferred this to being in one of the big chains on the doorstep.

We stayed there for two nights, the rate was very cheap. We chose this one because they offer parking, which is a huge problem in Dubrovnik. The city centre is about 25 minute walk, but we didn't mind. The onwners are very nice, and attentive - on arrival we got a juice and homemade cookies, Ms. Jele - owners' mother, gave us homegrown oranges and on the second night her son stopped by asking whether everything is allright. Clean and comfortable. Great experience.

We came to Dubrovnik out-of-season, so were fortunate enough to be the only people staying here.

We were upgraded to the fantastic apartment, giving us our own bathroom, bedroom and kitchen.

This place was fantastic value - having our own kitchen and being able to self-cater, meant we were able to live on a tight budget.

The accommodation is a short bus journey from the old town, to save the pennies we walked to and from the old town - about 25 minutes each way.

The host and his family were incredibly welcoming, meeting us from the station and making us feel at home complete with oranges from the garden!

The hotel offers a free pick up service which is helpful as it is on a hill behind the port. Unfortunatly, we didn't get to stay at Jele rooms. We were told they were over booked so the owner took us to a partially finished apartment in the same street with no wi fi or kitchen (the appliances were boxed up), no tea/coffee making facilities and the balcony was work in progress. The apartment was clean but they had the smallest towels I have seen - more a tea towel than a bath towel!

This will be a nice apartment when it is finished as it has great views.

The places to eat in this part of Dubrovnik are cheaper than in the Old Town. If your on a budget there is a large supermarket next to the bus station. If you are catching a bus across a border it may be more efficient to go to the border town and catch a local bus from there as we found there were far more services.

The airport bus goes past the old town and then on to the main bus station. Fast, cheap and efficient.
