Description: Dubrovnik's new gem where diners enjoy a beautiful fusion of Dalmatian and Japanese cuisine. A unique place in the Old City to taste fresh oysters grown at the oyster farm in nearby Mali Ston Bay. This bay is the last place where the "Queen of oysters" (Ostrea edulis) still grows. The Oyster & Sushi Bar Bota is located in the charming, small alley by the Cathedral.

This was a refreshing place to eat and a nice alternative to the other meals we’d been having in Croatia. We loved it. Not large, but outdoor seating was quite pleasant with a view of the Cathedral. Very fresh oysters priced at a little under $2 each from Shot, a town not too far north of Dubrovnik where a major area river empties into the Adriatic. For that reason the oysters are not overly briny, but quite favorable. So was the sushi --- although maki rolls come with only four pieces. Nigiri sushi was also good (and very much similar to cuts and styles we are accustomed to a numerous sushi restaurants in the US), but the real standout was tuna tartar that was excellently seasoned and fresh amberjack (a local, popular fish) that was thinly diced into almost tartar consistency, that was nicely seasoned with pepper, capers and a light splash of lemon juice. Prices were reasonable and in keeping with the general pricing at other restaurants in Dubrovnik, and the cool breezes coming through the passageways on a very hot day just made it all that much better. We found the to be a very positive lunchtime experience.

This little outdoor seating sushi place was recommended by our apartment owner. If you go to the cathedral , on the left hand side you will see a flight of stairs where the restaurant Amoret is in the centre. Go up the stairs and you will see cool white bar tables with white bar chairs on the side and that is the sushi restaurant / bar.

We went for lunch yesterday and got ourselves a table with great view of the cathedral . The menu is kind of limited but they do have pictures with all items so you will know what you are getting. Since I am from Hong Kong and go to Japan few times a year, I have japanese sushi regualrly so I do think I am qualified in commenting on their sushi quality.

We ordered rainbow roll, salmon skin roll, salmon sushi ,toro sushi and toro tartare. The order took almost 30 mins to come. If it took so long even when we were the only customers ( we were early), I can't imagine how long it would take when they get a full house. Luckily they have free wifi so at least we were not bored. The sushi were tiny even though they were fresh. The rice was definitely not sushi rice but still tasted good. The salmon skin rolls were excellent and so was the toro tartare. I find the price quite reasonable only that the sushi sizes are too small. I suggest that you order a bit more than you usually do unless you do not mind waiting for your second order.

Service was good like most restaurants in old town and our waiter speaks perfect English. Please remember to bring cash as they do not accept credit card.

Overall I do like their sushi and I will definitely come back ( most probably tomorrow). I do recommend this place and think it will be nice to have a change of taste after eating for a few days in the Croatian seafood restaurants.

The very basic of sushi cooking is not here: sushi rice is not the minimum quality, fish is not cut right hence the texture was unacceptable. It looked as if, but is it Croatian interpretation of "look alike" sushi, perhaps?

I could not swallow the food due to its very uncomfotable texture and had to spit it out. May be ok for sushi beginners who live locally and had never been to Japan but not for those who know how should authentic sushi tastes and "feels" in the mouths.

The Setting is nice for drinking but I am not willing to come back for sushi.

WOW! How nice was it to discover this new hidden gem in Dubrovnik!!! Tuna tartare was the best we ever had....sushi rolls also excellent. We must say that the restaurant atmosphere was something special as many locals dined here (this is rare for Dubrovnik).
