“Outstanding Value & Service”
Reviewed 17 December 2012

The hotel Adria is a very new hotel, rather in the guise of a Premier Inn for those used to travelling in the UK. Easily accesible from the main Dubrovnik to Split road, just south of the suspension bridge at Dubrovnik. The rate was €50 / room which was fantastic value, and obviously off season. Room was spacious, had a TV, clean, great balcony and air conditioned. I was on the top floor, so great views down into the harbour where the cruise ships berth. Dinner menu was modest because there were few guests. Breakfast was simple, but in keeping with the rates. Entire hotel was very clean. Swimming pool planned to open in 2014. Barman was friendly and spoke great English.

Room Tip: All rooms face away from the road and look down over the harbour.

I was looking for a hotel in Dubrovnik but I was out way too late and the hotels close to the Old Town cost a fortune so we decided to take a hotel 3 kilometer away from there and a hotel that also had parking for our car. We ended up choosing the Hotel Adria that was located on the main road north of Dubrovnik, because the reviews and the price seemed more than fair.

For a change we found the hotel quite easily and parked the car just outside the hotel entrance where we were lucky to find a spot. The hotel turned out to be quite new, large and located far away from the water and about 120 meters above sea level. The guy in the reception was extremely service minded and really friendly. He cave us a room on the 6th floor that actually meant that we had to go down with the elevator.

The room was large and very modern in its appearance and it felt quite rewarding after over stay in Kotor. There was a balcony facing the water and some islands, but there was also a house just in front of us. The room was perfect and with astonishing beds.

The hotel bar and restaurant where they served the breakfast had both amazing views, because there was nothing in front of the hotel at this level. I took advantage of that view the following day when a storm passed and got some great shots of the lightning. The breakfast of the hotel was really nice and then with view it made it even better.

The Wi-Fi in the room worked well, there was even a shuttle going down to the Old Town of Dubrovnik and otherwise a cab fare would set you back 10 Euro in order to get there from the hotel, which I found quite fair. It was a great hotel but the location was far from optimal if you can't afford to take a taxi. There is a bus stop near the hotel as well.

Room Tip: Get the room as high up as possible

The Hotel Adria overlooks the city. With that, you get good, bad, and it depends. We are avid walkers, so much of it was good.

We were in Room 307. From our balcony, we had a very good view of the main area of the harbor, though with some obstruction to the north. No real complaint there. The view was better from the 1st floor (the dining area). I didn't notice other hotels nearby at this elevation, so this may be as good as it gets for elevation.

The road that accesses the hotel is Jadranska Cesta - not Radnička Ulica, which is (I will say) a 488-step "street" that goes down to the main road along the harbor. If you're in reasonable shape, and it's not oppressively hot, this shouldn't discourage you. After all, you'll be doing plenty of steps on the wall around Old Town.

Just over a mile to the SE on Jadranska Cesta is the start of the pathway up to Mt. Srđ. A quieter street, Gornji Kona, runs parallel. Then at Ul. Nika Kulišića, go up to and cross Jadranska Cesta, and go about 300 feet to the right to the trail head. Total distance - just over one mile. If you planned to zig zag up to Mt. Srđ, this won't be a problem.

General comments: Nice and clean. Front desk personnel were friendly and helpful. Room rules were a bit unusual - do not eat in the room, no washing clothes in the room. So it was like being in a formal dining room. Breakfast buffet was nothing special, but sufficient. Shuttle seemed convenient enough. Refrigerator would have been nice. But we had no real complaints.

The views from the hotel are great
Breakfast is good
The amenities in the hotel are poor - there is no soap or shower get but only soap from a box like the one in public showers....
The bed/mattress is not super comfy...

I thought the hotel is more centrally located instead we had to take the car and park it close tot the center which costed us around 11 euros and it was a steep walk back to the parking which costed us a taking of 8 euros... we only stayed 1 night in dubrovenik but if we had to do this trip more often it would have been quite costly....going back and forth to the hotel.

For one night and given we needed to head early to the airport the enxt day i think this hotel was well located.

As soon as we arrived there was a real sense of professionalism and style. As this is a new hotel, it was very clean and the decor was really tasteful - more 4* than 3* - which many have said.
The room itself was lovely and comfortable and we had a balcony with a sea view. Unfortunately we couldn't see the sun set as there was an apartment building in the way - but the room on the whole was delightful. The receptionists were excellent and very friendly and were eager to meet your every needs - often going out of their way. The bar staff were also lovely and this was a comfortable and friendly hotel to stay in.
There was a 'shuttle' bus service that took you to either Lapad or the Old Town. It ran from the early morning until 9:30pm. This cost 15 HRK each (approx £2.00) or you could take a taxi, which cost on average 70 HRK (approx £7). There are 633 steps to the harbour from the hotel - this was a 'little' tough in the heat - especially on the way up (thought I was dying to be honest)! however, steps are not that uncommon in Dubrovnik as it is a narrow place. Got easier the second time I did it though!
On the whole - this was an excellent hotel to stay in - with fantastic staff (although beware Mr-Moustache-Man - his words can 'sting' at times)! who were keen to please. Our room was also delightful with a stunning view of the harbour. It is brilliantly priced for what you get...
I would not discourage anyone from staying here - it is a welcoming place to stay - with a real warmth to it.

Stayed here for 2 nights as part of a two week tour of Croatia

Hotel clean and modern which you would expect given the short time it has been opened

Had very nice views of the bay of lapad and great to have free underground parking for our hire car which we parked and left preferring to take the hotel shuttle bus to old town and taxis bac k approx 70 -80 kunas for the latter

Good additonal views from the restaurant and balcony bar

Food was a little unimagintive and we prefer hot food to be hot! Reasonable cold buffet selection

Dubrovnik old town is very nice but we preferred Trogir our last stop over

Room Tip: You need to ask for full sea view with balcony not side rooms because either side of the hotel the l...

Where on earth do I start? Booked this hotel on account of it's good reviews and mention of it's seaviews. Upon check in we were assigned room 201, right next to the lift and facing (from left to right) a piece of main road, a dump of crushed stones, a mini sliver of sea, and framed beautifully by a dilapidated horrid ex communist residential block (see pictures). The receptionist told us he can't do anything because we had booked a standard room, when from the website (their own and other booking sites) there was never any indication that there were any rooms without a view. After a showdown, the manager called the next day saying that sea view rooms were 40euro extra per day (again, there was never an indication of this while booking), and ended up with her yelling 'shame on you' at us because we told her that we would put pictures up on tripadvisor for all to see. We were given the 'sea view' room next day after a ruined afternoon.
The much vaunted wifi connection is very patchy and was inexistent the first day. The room itself is all modern and clean, but there is no mini bar or fridge, so in 40C temperatures you have nowhere to store cold water, you have to buy from the bar.
The hotel is situated on top of a hill overlooking the harbour, in a residential area marked by huge tower blocks. To get to the old town you either have to take their own shuttle (2 euro), but they won't pick you up, so to get back you have to rely on the very infrequent bus no.3, which leaves you on the pavement-less side of the main road in pitch darkness.
The icing on the cake was on check-out, when we were presented with the bill. Instead of 3 nights at 40E extra per night (the 'upgrade' to a sea view), we were faced with a bill for 4 nights at 80E extra per night! They actually had the cheek to try and charge us the extra for the night we spent in the rubble-view room. The bill was hastily withdrawn and reviewed when we angrily pointed it out, but it left a very very sour note on the whole holiday.
In my opinion this hotel is only good for group coach tours who dont need to move about on their own, otherwise just stick to somewhere better served.

Room Tip: Make sure you clarify if the room has a sea view. Note that some sea view room still have the tower...
