Villa Gradi proved the most beautiful and perfect venue for sixteen family members from all over the world, to come together for our son's wedding in Dubrovnik last week. Every aspect of the Villa was so beautiful; plenty of bedroom space for all; a wonderful pool set into the hillside with views of the sea below; a large kitchen and a huge covered terrace overlooking the sea which proved the ideal place to meet for meals, to catch the constantly cooling breeze, to watch all the activity of the passing yachts and boats of all kinds, to greet the early morning and sit and talk till late into the night. Ante and his mother were terrific hosts, providing two divine traditional Croatian dishes upon our arrival - a most welcome treat for our first meal. We were greeted with fresh fruit and vegetables from the extensive gardens and a full shop of food and drink done at our request so we would not need to shop immediately after our very early flights. We luxuriated by the pool with its fine balance of sun and shade. A full size snooker table provided further entertainment and there were enough individual areas through the house and gardens for everyone to find peace and space from others as needed. Nothing was too much trouble for the family in responding to our requests and needs. The villa is about 20 minutes away from the Old City but it was so easy to get taxis, to and from the City - even for those who partied in town till dawn! We loved not being in the heart of the City, with its large number of tourists, but being near enough to go in whenever we wanted. The private jetty just across the road provided a great launch pad for somersaults into the warm, clear sea. A short walk along the road, is a place from which we were able to hire boats and jet-skis enabling all who wanted to, to visit the myriad local islands. Our twenty-somethings had the "best day of their lives" out on the jet-skis and loved the clubs in town. I hugely recommend Villa Gradi. It fulfilled all our needs and proved the perfect venue to have a truly wonderful holiday in this absolutely stunning country. The wedding, held in the old City was beyond perfect. What a fabulous occasion and holiday.
Had a wonderful experience. The property is a historic place restored to perfection. The hosts are generous welcoming and personable always ready to help us with any questions. Ante's mom welcomed us with traditional cheese pie which really helped immerse quickly in the traditions of the land. Thank you very much for a great stay we hope to return. Irina &co
We stayed at villa gradi in the run up to our wedding in dubrovnik and it was the perfect choice!
The villa is absolutely beautiful with a large shaded terrace at the front which gets a cooling breeze from the river as well as a fantastic pool at the back which had a shallow section suitable for young kids. Theres a full size pool table & darts board.
There was pleanty of space for our large group to socialise together as well as quiet spaces if people wanted to split off, we never felt on top of each other. The bedrooms are all lovely and comfortable and the layout allowed our 2 familys to mix while having their own space.
On the day of the wedding we got ready at the villa & the photographer fell in love with the location, making me late to the alter! Not a problem though as the photos will be amazing!
There is a small supermarket 10mins walk away and a bus which takes you into dubrovnik (approx 30mins) and drops you at the pile gate. The bus goes via the port so if your fancing a boat trip or the catamaran to split its accessable.
Anti and his family were so helpful & accomodating, and even collected us from the supermarket after a big shop.
We would definately recommend staying at villa gradi!
My family and a few friends of mine visited Dubrovnik in the first half of June this year. It was an amazing experience. We stayed in villa Gradi, very large, exclusive and magnificent villa situated at the mouth of Rijeka dubrovačka bay, near the hanging bridge, just a couple of minutes away of the city centre by car. Everything was very nice and clean and comfortable in the villa. We were impressed by many open and covered terraces sorrounded by gardens full with flowers, vegetables and fruits. If you get lucky you will see the turtles as well :). It was wonderful just to walk around, to watch the ships entering the city port and getting out, to have some meat grilled, to enjoy food outdoors. The pool is situated on a very spacious terrace surrounded by q mountainous environment with perfect view and unique atmosphere, as there are no other houses in the vicinity. Sometimes, we jumped and swam in the sea just in front of the villa. We spent an unforgettable and delightful week holiday in this villa and would recommend it to all other people who are longing for nice holidays with rife contents.
Last year my friends and I stayed just a week at Villa Gradi in Dubrovnik and it was such a wonderful experience that we decided to spend two weeks there this year. Villa Gradi is a rarely seen, spacious villa with several terraces surrounded by gardens and roofed by floral pergolas. If you want to have some intimate hours for yourselves, it is a perfect option. On the other hand, if you have close friends or members of the family you want to be all the time with, villa Gradi is again the best choice: on any of its spacious terraces, you can organise big meals, socialize or even play board games or whatever you like with bigger groups of persons. We spent two weeks there in July this year with a couple of my friends and some members of my family. In addition to the many advantages we already knew from our last staying, we were this year surprised by meticulous renewals in the rooms and bathrooms. The owners endeavor to keep on with improvements and renewals continuously. Thus, although the villa originates from the Renaissance period, its interiors and exteriors look completely new, charming and modern. The villa is very carefully maintained but the owners do it descretely (early in the morning and late in the evening), so that it doesn't disturbs the guests' tranquility. The pool area is particularly nice and suitable to socialize and play. It offers a wonderful view of the whole bay and the harbor. I can only recommend Villa Gradi to all the people who like family and friends gatherings.
Twelve of us, ages 55-83, gathered in the Stojan's hundreds year old waterfront Villa Gradi, built as the "summer house" for an early wealthy Dubrovnik leader. There is so much space inside with two huge living rooms, large bedrooms with modern bathrooms for each (even including hairdryers) and a kitchen table that seats many, But we mostly lived outside in the multiple delightful gathering spaces, each enhanced by gorgeous flowering plants and comfortable seating. (There;s nothing more pleasant than sharing wine and cheese overlooking the water from the gazebo, or sipping morning coffee from the summer kitchen area, or celebrating my 80th birthday dinner on the front patio.) Ante and his mother are available and helpful, but in no way intrusive. (Provided us a nice lunch upon our arrival)
One is near but far enough away from the historic walled city of Dubrovnik, about 10 minutes by car and 20 minutes by a local bus that comes within short walking distance of the villa. Easy parking at the villa for our four cars. A boat picked us up nearly at our door for an all day trip to three islands. Other day trips to Bosnia and Montenegro kept us busy throughout the week. We found many good restaurants just a few minutes drive away...great fresh seafood. The Croatian people generally speak English and were friendly and helpful. One needed to be willing to do steps to enjoy the villa--not my favorite thing, but good for me. (not a place for the truly handicapped)
Villa Gradi is an extraordinary place--All twelve of us ( a mixture of family and friends) would tell you it was one of our best vacations ever.

I have booked this villa for our mid-September stay in Dubrovnik. My now wife and I have planned to get married in Dubrovnik and have been looking for an appropriate accommodation for our close family and us. Villa Gradi looked quite impressive on the picture but has totally blown my mind ones I first seen it in person. The space is absolutely huge and I started losing parts of my family between all different terraces and halls. Since we had quite few guests regularly visiting us during our stay the excessive outside space during the sunny days was absolutely brilliant. Not to mentioned that terraces are placed on different levels so you could have few different groups getting together on same time, which is very helpful if you have family and friends speaking different languages ;-). Also there is lovely pool area that is again elevated with stunning views and offers brilliant relaxing retreat during day and night (did I mention it includes bar and Jacuzzi!).
Villa includes beautifully designed kitchen with very cosy atmosphere. If you prefer outside cooking, there is also outside kitchen “in addition” to BBQ space. Ante was very kind to provide us with coal and bbq material so we ended up having BBQ every second day. Vegetable and fruits are growing everywhere in their lovely garden and owner was happy with us using it.
We had quite few children staying with us and they loved it as it offered great space for them to play. Two cats residing at property deserve my full admiration for their endurance and patience.
Ante was lovely host. He offered us all help we needed. He also left us staying few hours longer as our flight was departing later afternoon (not to mention that we also checked in earlier than agreed). He also allowed us to use their speed boat and organized skipper for us in last minute. This has resulted in beautiful and unforgettable experience at the end of our stay.
I could go on and on like this, but there are little words that would describe the homey and blissful feeling you have while staying in this villa. It is place that makes you feel being at your own home (only nicer ;-)) from very beginning and wants you coming back all over again. My wife and I and our family are thankful for having the opportunity to acquire some unforgettable memories at this wonderful place.
