We stayed in the 2nd floor apartment pictured, with the floral lounge suite and white furniture. It is an apartment for two, with a comfortable double bed, modern bathroom with bath and shower, a compact but workable kitchen and huge windows that open onto an alley leading to the main plaza at the end of the Placa, opposite the church of St Blaize. It is very well equipped and very comfortable, although it is a little noisy as it is in the centre of everything with the hustle and bustle of restaurants below and the church bells ringing regularly. However there is a classical guitarist who plays outside every night when things become quieter and the cruise ship tourists have disappeared and the music will fill the apartment which is absolutely lovely.
We were dropped off at the gate at the opposite end of the Placa (not the port end) and it was a flat level 2 mins walk to the apartment (there is a ramp at the gate), then 2 flights of stairs within the apartment.
Our stay in Dubrovnik was wonderful. Everything was in easy walking distance, including a couple of supermarkets and a small daily farmers market in the square behind the apartment. This square leads to another small square where there is a workers cafe which has 7kuna coffees, which is a lot cheaper than the ones on the placa at 24kunas! We tried different restaurants for every meal and they were all good, and so many to choose from.
Walking the walls at 8am was brilliant, we even watched a movie being shot at the port with 2 tall ships and everyone in Renaissance dress. Our trip to the fortress by cable car was memorable too. Dubrovnik was defended valiantly during the recent war and our tour guide told us about being evacuated as a child and how it took three years for her family to return to Dubrovnik and how they rebuilt their lives, and the town. You can still see the shrapnel and bullet holes around the town in the buildings. Dubrovnik is certainly an interesting destination, with a long history, and the apartments are the perfect place to experience it all.
