We (family of four) stayed in an Ocean View suite which was lovely - spacious, clean, well appointed with a large balcony and gorgeous view.
The rest of the hotel was more Four Star in our opinion.
Breakfast was fairly poor - tables were not properly laid, it was hit and miss whether staff brought drinks to the table and our egg order sometimes arrived and sometimes didn't. The choice was limited, items replenished only when someone mentioned they had run out, and crockery frequently dropped by rushed staff who seemed to be doing their best whilst being understaffed.
As facilities are shared with the neighbouring hotels in the chain, the pools and rocky beach areas were very crowded, with sun-beds packed in like sardines in most areas. There was space to be found at the farthest point of the beach, but people struggled to find vacant sun-beds. The beach area also needed a better clean. The children and husband had a great time leaping off the rock platforms into the sea however. The hotel pools would have been fine if residents had exclusive use.
We soon discovered that better food and service than provided at the hotel, could be gained by walking around the coast path to the numerous nearby restaurants, or by catching the convenient bus into the old town area.
Overall there were just too many negatives for us to rate this as a Five Star hotel. Many of then were pretty minor niggles - a sign stating that if you wanted to use more than the couple of tea bags provided in the room you would be charged for them, housekeeping entered the room while we were at breakfast despite the 'do not disturb' sign being on, cups just rinsed out and left to drain and the bar shutting at 10pm for example. I would have been more than happy to wash up myself, however, despite there being a small kitchenette area, kitchenware was not in evidence.
Although we will certainly return to Croatia and the Dubrovnik area in the future, (fantastic scenery and people - couldn't rate it more highly), we will try a different hotel.
