“met as strangers, left as friends”

Had a fantastic holiday in Dubrovnik, couldnt have picked a better apartment to rent. Mato and Marina are such wonderful hosts, you are not treated as paying guest, but as guests in their home. They are very generous, with drinks and homemade cakes, and are at hand with any advice you may need.

We prefered the location of the apartment in a quiet part of Dubrovnik, after the hussle and bussle on The Old Town. The apartment overlooks Gruz Harbour, the pebbly beach is 10 mins walk away, supermarkets are all within easy reach, the local market is 15 mins walk away, Old Town is 20 mins walk.

Had some great food while there, loved trying all the different bread. Can recommend Otto Taverna and Porat Restuarant.

For days out we can highly recommend the local ferry to Mjet, and hiring bikes to travel around the island. Also a visit to Ston on the local bus to visit the " Great wall of China" and salt pans.

Will be back to Croatia!

“Delightful apartment, great location!”

A delightful open plan apartment in a great location. The apartment located on the harbour front in Lapad is tastefully decorated, very comfortable and has everything a couple will need for a relaxed stay. A walled garden to the rear provides a chilled location for breakfast and a sanctuary from old town exertions for an afternoon read. The apartment is on the No.6 bus route from the city centre, a journey that takes between 10 and 15 minutes. Mato and Marina are friendly and discrete hosts and live in the same building.

“Great apartment, location and friendly owners”
Reviewed 13 October 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Great welcome when Mato met us at the airport, their hospitality continued with kind gestures of gifts of wine, cake and fresh fruit. Mato & Marina could not have done more to make you feel relaxed and at home. The apartment was very clean with everything that you need and a lovely peaceful walled garden. The location was ideal, without the mass tourism of The Old Town, yet only ten minutes away by bus. A selection of good restaurants and tavernas were only 300 metres away. The local beach at Lapad was a 10 minute walk with a large selection of restaurants. Their winery is a charming place, the wine they make is of the finest quality, and Marina also has a lovely selection of local crafts for sale. We went home after our 2 week stay refreshed and relaxed. Thank you Mato & Marina

“One of the best holiday rentals I've ever stayed in”
Reviewed 29 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

What a gem of a place! Loved it here, the studio has it all: character and charm, a well-stocked kitchen, good water pressure in the shower, grunty aircon, and all spotlessly clean. The owners Marina and Mato are lovely, friendly, welcoming people, who truly made us feel at home and looked after us beyond expectation. The location is great, quiet, away from the crowds, but close enough to walk to the old town if you want. We got a 10-trip bus ticket with our tourist card (access to museums and the wall etc.), so used that, which makes things even faster.

“Fabulous accommodation”
Reviewed 21 August 2014 for a stay in August 2014

My wife and I were lucky enough to stumble across this wonderful place located only 20 mins walk away from the old city. The owners Mato & Marina are delightful people who are ready to help you with anything you need, they also own a wine outlet selling their family wine which may just be the best red you will taste in Croatia! The accommodation is close to some fine restaurants but has everything for those who prefer to be self contained - Thanks for letting us use part of your wonderful home.

“Fabulous Getaway”
Reviewed 14 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

This apartment was exactly how it was described on Tripadvisor and MORE! The apartment was very easy to find by car and there was free parking within 20 meters of the home. The owners Marina and Mato were absolutely wonderful. They have an amazing home and went above and beyond in helping us find restaurants, tours as well as answering any questions we had. Their apartment was so comfortable and homey. They also have a beautiful secluded garden in the back. Upon arrival they had pastries waiting for us. The apartment is above their winery in which they sell their mazing wines, brandy and local art. It is right on the waterfront with easy access to a bus that can take you to the Old Town. We appreciated the fact that we didn't stay where all the tourist stayed and could escape back to this apartment. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance and a place to book your tours is next door if you so wish. If you stay here, take the time to talk to Mato and Marina about the history of their building and area. Truly an amazing place to stay. Thank you Mato and Marina for all your hospitality. We will see you again!

“Delightful find and historical location”
Reviewed 5 July 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Marina & Mato have a great location in Lapad with a lovely & good sized studio apartment (& garden). The space is inviting and was a great rest when we first arrived during a rain storm. Buses are easily accessed and good restaurants and cafés nearby.
We very much appreciated getting to know more about authentic history from the shipyard area, which added a nice texture to our understanding of Dubrovnik. Mato & Marina have a great wine shop below the studio apartment, and sampling their wine was a treat. The best part was getting to know our hosts , who are both warm and engaging.
If history is interesting, their stories of many generations of family growing up in this neighborhood will add an amazing frame to your visit to Croatia. We look forward to returning and staying with them.
