“Proximity to amenities is the best you can say”
Reviewed 24 June 2014

The Villa More looks a lovely, old style building both in the photos and as you approach it in real life. It's handy for the pedestrian area of Lapad, Lapad beach, the bus to the Old Town and Gruz port. However (and I'm saying this having just returned from a lovely holiday in Dubrovnik), there are some downsides that anyone considering this property might be interested in.

- take the offered transfer from the hotel to the villa ; We arrived quite late and Stephen, the lovely driver we had with Transfer Dubrovnik knew that we had to check in at the Hotel More which was ten minutes or so away from the apartment, so he insisted on waiting. Our arrival at the villa was a bit "gothic". The place was in darkness, we were unable to locate any light switches when we let ourselves in and the two flights of curving wooden stairs creaked as we headed to our apartment on the top floor.

- the villa isn't suitable if you have mobility issues. The ground floor is offices, so accommodation requires climbing stairs.

- not suitable if you like someone on site to ask questions of. Although the hotel reception can be contacted via the phone system, or by taking the 10 minute walk to the Hotel where the staff are very lovely.

- request apartments 901 or 902 if you are over 6 ft tall. We were initially allocated apartment 904 on the 2nd (top) floor and the initial disappointment was that it didn't have a balcony which we thought we had requested. More fundamentally, however, the top floor apartments are in the roof space and even if I could have been sure my husband would have always remembered to duck under the low, sloping ceilings in every room, the fact that he physically couldn't get near the loo, or use the shower other than on his knees was going to make our holiday quite stressful. Thankfully, the lovely Nikolina at the hotel took pity on us and re- allocated us a room on the 1st floor.

- the top floor apartments are also a bit claustrophobic, and the low, wood panelled ceilings retain the heat.

- angle grinders make great alarm clocks! Unfortunately there is building work immediately next door to the Villa, most of which is being carried out by angle grinder. Obviously this won't be going on forever, but if, like us you choose an apartment to enjoy a lie in during your holiday, it may be worth checking the progress of the building work.

Room Tip: Ask for 901 or 902 if you want a balcony and consider using the pool facilities at the Hotel

We have booked one two bedroom apartment through Expedia website. Check in has to be made at the reception of hotel More which is about 600 meters away, but the hotel staff was kind enough to drive us to Villa More. The Villa is situated in a peaceful area only 200 meters away from the beach area. Our apartment was on second floor and the only thing that is missing in Villa More is an elevator. On the other hand, as this is part of Hotel More you can call reception for anything 0-24 hours.
In the area there are some good bars and restaurants on the promenade and there is also a bus stop only 100 meters away (and it goes every 10 minutes for the Old city, which is really convenient). There is a small pool in front of the Villa, and kids just loved playing around it and surrounding gardens. Bedrooms are pretty comfortable and in kitchen there is everything you might need with plenty utensils for family of 4.
We can highly recommend Villa More and if we come back to Dubrovnik and next year, we will definitely book the same apartment again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa More last month. The interior is made from finest materials, carved wooden furniture and fully equipped kitchen. There was 4 of us in a two bedroom apartment and it was really comfortable as the apartment has 78m2.
We found it more suitable for our holiday than to book apartment in the Old town because the Old city gets overcrowded and Lapad area is much better for relaxing holiday close to the beach.
Bus lines are very regular, every 10 minutes to Old city of Dubrovnik.
Hotel More staff is very hepful and they were kind enough to organize our transfers and excursions.

We found this villa on Booking. Having analyzed info, reviews and gallery, we decided it's the best choice for us, the family of 2 adults and 2 kids (5 and 13). There is no direct regular flight Kiev-Dubrovnik and Nika Benic from Villa More reservation helped us a lot - she found for us reliable tourist company (Valanta) in Ukraine. We lived in ap. 901: 2 bedrooms abt 25m each, kitchen abt 30m, bathroom, 2 terraces. For us it was enough. This villa differs from others because it has the garden. The pool is small but it doesn't matter because we didn't use it, we prefer sea only. There is a pebble beach (Uvala) in 200m but we preferred the beach near Hotel Vis. The water there is always clean despite of weather and time of the day (but it's better to buy swimming shoes for children). Frankly speaking, our children didn't want to go back. In fact, we got more than expected.

We just returned from our Dubrovnik vacation and a stay at Villa More. We truly enjoyed this Villa and location in Dubrovnik. Our apartment was #901 on the 2nd floor with 2 bedrooms, full kitchen w/seating for 6, full bathroom (shower/tub combo) and 2 terraces - one off the kitchen and a large one with patio seating for 6. Both bedrooms open up onto the large terrace.

There is a pool, though very small and circular. The pool has jets that when turned on, will push you around in a circle. (Look for the switches along the wall.) There is a lovely rear garden with green space - the terraces overlook the tennis club, if you would like to watch the matches. There is no view of the ocean from the Villa.

Villa More actually houses offices on the bottom floor which are somewhat of a nuisance in terms of smoking. It was raining throughout most of our trip and the office workers would take their smoke breaks indoors, in a small lounge by the front door. The smoke would travel upwards to the second floor and the smell was definitely noticeable in our apartment.

Parking is not available at the Villa and we were told to just park across the street at Tommy supermarket. This seems to be what a lot of people end up doing as the parking lot is ALWAYS packed and difficult to maneuver. If you can find parking on the street, that is fine too.

Villa More has a great location a block from the Setaliste Kralja Zvonimira - the pedestrian lane with tons of bars/restaurants and cafes. We found two nice playgrounds for our 4 year old daughter which was a great diversion as well.

The pedestrian lane leads to the pebble beach - pretty, although small. Continue to follow the pedestrian lane along the sea wall and you will come upon Cave Bar More and Hotel More...about 15 minute total walk from Villa More to the Hotel.

There was daily maid service to refresh the towels and make the beds. We paid 115 euro per night, which was definitely a great price, in my book. With Tommy supermarket just across the street and Pizzeria Scala (which also serves breakfast) as well as a small mall behind Tommy, this really is a great location outside the city.

We would recommend this Villa to anyone, especially families.

Room Tip: #901 - second floor - extremely large with 2 bedrooms and can sleep up to 5 people.

We stayed at Villa More in September 2012, and really enjoyed it. Reception staff at the hotel explained us everything, helped us with the luggage and drove us to apartments. Our apartment (903) was very cosy and spacious. It has most probably around 60 square meters, one bedroom, kitchen with dinning area and living room.
The beach is 150 meters away which is very convenient, and everything you need is within 100 meters: shops, bars, restaurants, bus stop, pharmacy....

Highly recommendable apartments !!!

Amazing location in the old, elegant villa part of Lapad. 5 min walk to the free beach. 5min by taxi/bus to the old town.
Spacious apartments, recently renovated, fully equipped. Large, nice garden and a small pool. Helpful and nice personnel. Parking lot (that is a real value in Dubrovnik).
