First impression of this hotel was it looked like a business hotel from the front. However, after you went in you can feel the luxury status of this hotel. All the rooms have the view of the adriatic sea and a balcony, which was the main reason we chose this hotel. It has it's own private part of the beach as well. Service was great. Breakfast was good, buffet and also you can order from the menu (included). We had dinner at the restaurant and it was excellent, I highly recommend it. Spa was great with pool, jacuzzi, steam and sauna. The location is only 20 minutes walk to the old town or 5 minutes by bus.

The only thing that doesn't make this hotel excellent are the little details missing that you usually get from an amazing luxury hotels. The design of this hotel is ordinary.

My husband and I splurged on the Bellevue coz of the view, proximity to the walled old city (15 minute walk along the coast) and the rave reviews we had read. While the hotel is expensive, we got every dollar's worth.

My husband who holds an Indian passport applied for a Croatian visa without checking the multiple entry option although we planned to spend part of our time in Bosnia and then return to Dubrovnik at the same hotel for our return flight to India. Getting a visa for Croatia itself was a terribly cumbersome process because they wanted to see confirmed hotel reservations and flights for every part of our trip (I recommend Indians get a multiple entry Schengen visa which is currently being accepted in lieu of a Croatian visa) so they kept delaying until they had every nitpicky paper.

Anyway we thought it would be as easy as getting the immigration authority at the dubrovnik airport to change his visa status. It wasn't. We were told it was impossible and that meant part of our trip plan would get ruined. So when we reached our hotel we enlisted Bellevue's concierge Davos' help. He made several phone calls and was informed that we would have to return to India to get a multiple entry visa from the issuing authority there! But Davos didn't give up. He called his friend working at the Foreign Office in Zagreb, found the lady who provides Croatia visa approvals to all the consulates the world over and cajoled her into finding us a solution. Eventually, the consulate in Sarajevo (who was being very difficult herself despite being given instructions by her boss in Zagreb) was sent an email asking her to issue us a re-entry visa to Croatia within 2 working days. Throughout this time, while my husband and I were holidaying in Mostar, Bosnia andthen Sarajevo, Bellevue's concierge Davos and his colleague a Russian lady (I forget her name) were on the ball checking on the embassy in Sarajevo and helping coordinate messages back and forth between them and the Foreign Office in Zagreb. It speaks very little of Croatian Consulates and their bureaucratic procedures for visas (a pity because I believe tourism haapens to be one of their top revenue earners and the economy is actually in recession, shrinking by 1-2 % annually) but speaks volumes for the Bellevue staff and Croatians in general!

During the four days we spent at Bellevue, the hotel upgraded us to a balcony room on the night we had paid for the standard room and then upgraded us to the beautiful 2 room suite the other 3 nights when we had paid for a balcony room. The suite actually cost about 3 times the balcony room which we had paid for.

Additionally, the restaurant is brilliant and surprisingly reasonable for the quality of ingredients used, plating and ambience as compared to other options in the city. The chef specializes in making custom dishes off the menu and made me several delicious mediterranean vegetarian ones since I am vegetarian.

Also, on our way out my husband requested the details of a particular red wine he really liked there. The hotel very kindly arranged for a couple bottles for which we paid.

All in all if you wish to splurge on hotel accomodations Bellevue is the place. we have stayed at several wonderful luxury and not so luxury but service-oriented places the world over and would say that the service levels at Hotel Bellevue, Dubrovnik were exemplary

Room Tip: Pick the higher floor balcony rooms if you can. The view of the Adriatic, watching locals come in wi...

We arranged a car from the hotel to pick us up from the airport which made the long travel day from the US a little nicer. The car cost about 45 USD which was the same as what we saw advertised for taxi’s from the airport to Dubrovnik. Once at the hotel we were checked in quite quickly and brought to our room. A staff member showed us where everything was, how to use the AC/Heat etc. After the small tour he brought down our luggage. Note: the was bottled water on the small table with cookies and small bread. We though both were complementary, however the water is not. Our the view from our balcony was fantastic. Once settled we had lunch at Spice lounge on the patio. I had a chicken salad and my husband had the seared tuna. Both meals were tasty and fresh.
We had breakfast every day but one. There is coffee and tea served, at least 4 different juices, a variety of meats, two types of sausage two types of eggs, fruit, various dry cereals, granola, roasted veggies, yogurt. There is also a menu to order from however we didn’t try it out.

Our room was promptly cleaned when we left for the day, and all the housekeepers staff were very nice and polite in the halls.

All the staff were accommodating and very nice.

Old city is downhill from the hotel. The walk is pleasant with two great spots with views. There are a couple of spots along the way where the sidewalk gets very narrow and navigating it with other pedestrians and traffic can be a bit bothersome but nothing terrible. We enjoyed being so close to Old City as we had dinner there every night. The walk back up the hill was a bit tiring but the great Croatian wine helped out there!

The concierge arranged a tour and driver to take us to Montenegro for the day. Our driver Nic was friendly and knowledgeable. He pointed out a lot of history and great views. The cost was well worth the low stress day!

We spent a couple afternoons at the hotel beach. There is a public beach on the west side and the private area is to the east with the chairs. There were always plenty of towels available. There were usually spots to sit though I can imagine the summers may get quite crowded. The sun was hot and the water was refreshing, and clear!

All said we had a great honeymoon and am glad we chose Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik.

Dubrovnik's hotel landscape has improved in recent years and the Bellevue has been part of that rise. The hotel is situated on a beautiful cliff overlooking the Adriatic, rooms are clean, and it is reasonably well situated to the Old Town (15 minute walk, 3 min cab). However, these traits are more what qualifies a hotel as an acceptable place to stay, not credentials for 5-star classification. This hotel is really a 3.5-star hotel masquerading as a 5-star hotel. The staff are friendly but not adequately trained (breakfast service is a slow and mistake-laden); the build quality is not up to par (loose fixtures in multiple bathrooms, single/broken elevator; the linens and towels are scratchy and thin consistent with a cheap beach hotel in the U.S.; the breakfast is tasty but limited variety; there is not enough closet/drawer space in the rooms; the lighting in the rooms is insufficient; and my minibar fridge was not working. When you realize you're paying over US$500 a night even out of season, something seems grossly wrong here.

Room Tip: "All rooms are sea view" means that all the rooms face the sea, not that each room can vie...

My wife and I stayed here recently for 3 nights. It was a perfectly fine hotel but we were expecting something much better based on the Trip Advisor reviews. Therefore, we were expecting a 5-star hotel when it's really much more of a 3.5 to 4. We liked that it was clean, generally modern, was close to the action without being on top of it and had patios for each room. We were disappointed by the tiny beach area (and poor service there), our room was small and a bit decrepit, and the buffet was ok quality. Mostly though we felt we paid too much. Dubrovnik is expensive to get a nice place but $400+ a night wasn't worth it to us.

Dear Ryan B,
Thank you for posting your review on Tripadvisor's pages. I am sorry that you found our hotel expensive but month of August and first days in September is our top season with the highest rates and hotel is daily fully booked.
Regarding the size of the rooms our rooms size are from 28 m2 untill 100 m2 depends which category of the rooms you book.
In Croatia is very difficult to get concession on the whole beach so one part of the beach is for our guests and another part is public beach and we are very happy to have beach because in Dubrovnik in total there are only 4 beaches and most of the hotels have stone platforms.
Once again I would like to thank you for your review and hope to welcome you again in our hotel.

We first stayed at Bellevue 3 years ago and now (21 to 28 Aug) for our second visit. Everything was superb as on the first occasion; from front desk, room, maid service, staff throughout from conceirge to beach attendants - all excelled. We were mainly confined to the hotel apart from visits to the old town and dined on the terrace each evening. The standards, food and service, were very good every evening and all of our needs were attended to immediately. Well worthy of recommendation and deserving of high praise throughout. One small gripe - Sky News should be available on television although an English newspaper and also ipad is available in the lounge. Looking forward to another visit.

This hotel is on the outskirts of Dubrovnik's old town-about 15-20 minutes walk away. The hotel itself was very clean and the rooms are good. The brekfast buffet was ok, the hot plates did not really keep the food hot, but the cold and toast/pastries selection was good. The restaurant menu was a little bizarre and expensive, so you should walk into town where there is much better choice.
The bar is nice for the evening and they provided ipads to play with which is nice as there is no atmosphere in the bar!
We used the spa several times as the massages were very cheap for Europe and the staff were good. It rained several times so the spa and pool were a great time waster.
A great base to allow you to visit Dubrovnik-just make sure you go out to eat and drink.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a sea view

Dear Eleanor C,
Thank you very much for your positive comments posted on Tripadvisor's pages.
Thank you for pointing out our location, rooms, breakfast, wellness and spa area.
Our a la carte restaurant "Vapor" serves Mediterrainen fine dining cuisine and I am sorry that you found it expensive because our prices are much cheaper then that kind of restaurants in the city .
Should your travel bring you back to Dubrovnik in the future, my team and I would be delighted if you choose our hotel again.
