“A wonderful base for exploring Dubrovnik”
Reviewed 4 September 2013

The Hotel Bellevue is a fully modern hotel well-located to explore this beautiful city. It is about a 20 minute walk to the old city, mostly along the ocean. Perhaps the best attribute of the hotel is its magnificent view of the Adriatric. Perched on a cliff overlooking a small bay, it was a wonderful sight when we arrived after our flight to Croatia. An elevator takes you down to the pebbled beach so you experience the sea. Breakfast or dinner on the veranda over the sea is a marvelous way to start or end a day.

Meet the Conceirge and the Bar Manager and tell me where you have ever received better service. This hotel is so great, i simply did not want to leave! Anybody who has been to Dubrovnik will agree it's a beautiful place, but staying at the Bellevue makes the experience all that much more special. No request was too much or too little and the hotel decor and ambiance was sensational. Located only a short walk from the Old Town, i found this hotel to be perfectly positioned for the best of Dubrovnik. I would recommend anybody who stays to organise the JetSki safari at some point during their stay. They come and pick you up from the wonderful beach below the hotel and its an unforgettable experience. Will definitely be coming back to this hotel as soon as possible!

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in Aug 2013. We reserved a room with no view but we were pleasantly surprised with a partial ocean view. The breakfast buffet was great but beware of the bees on the outdoor terrace, the lady seated next to us said that she got stung by one of bees. Old town is a short walk (approx 15 mins) or you can take the bus which was very easy. We checked out at 5:30am (before the Breakfast buffet started) and the hotel graciously packed us to-go breakfasts, which was a great touch! The sunbeds by the beach are great, but as another reviewer mentioned, the public beach go-ers do smoke and the 2nd hand smoke was annoying but that is beyond the control of the hotel. I'm knocking one star off because the shower doors could use additional cleaning, there was some unsightly calcification on the hardware. I am also knocking one star off because we booked our reservation through Expedia and Expedia charged the full prepaid amount to our credit card. When we checked out, the receptionist insisted that Expedia did not charge us and then charged us AGAIN. The hotel reversed the charge from our credit card afterwards but it was a bit of a headache that I would have prefered to avoid. Some hotel workers were very friendly while others were a bit standoffish but not sure if this was just a cultural issue.

We were staying in a little apartment, across the street & above the hotel. We decided to go for a special dinner, but wanted something casual, but good. We walked downstairs into the bar area and asked the waiter if it would be possible to have a corner table on their patio, not to be confused with the a la carte Vapor Restaurant next to it - much more expensive! The staff was very helpful and told us "no problem, your table will be ready at 7PM". When we arrived the actually put table cloth on our table (normally they don't) and we had the corner table overlooking Miramare Bay and our favourite swimming place & beach below. Our waiter, Big Ivan, was just fantastic, and so was his partner. They made our dinner very special...it was inexpensive and we highly recommend it! On Big Ivan's recommendation we tried 2011 Posip Cara Vinogorje Korcula, an inexpensive, but a great white wine, just perfect with our meal! Also, save room for dessert, just amazing!!

My partner and I stayed here for five days in August - the only thing that wasn't perfect was the weather! The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the Old Town - we convinced ourselves this excused massive overeating....
Lovely spacious really well appointed room (huge bed), large bathroom and decent terrace with a fabulous sea view. Amazingly high service levels from front desk to restaurant at breakfast and dinner to by the beach. The breakfast experience was flawless each day and we had one dinner in the hotel, which was pretty good too.
Is the hotel value? I'd say definitely 'yes'. To be honest, if you're going to be watching the pennies when you stay here, then choose somewhere else because, let's face it, it ain't cheap. But if you do decide to come to the Bellevue, then simply lie back, pamper yourself and lap up the luxury!

Room Tip: We were in room 303 - you need to be careful selecting a room since some are very close or under pub...

We enjoyed a 5 day city break at the Bellevue Hotel in Dubrovnik in August 2013; the location is perfect, nestled in a private bay 10 mins walk to the old city. All the rooms are sea view; we had a superior double which was spacious, well appointed, and comfy, with a good sized balcony. The beds were large, if a little soft for my back. The bathroom was very well equipped but the shower was disappointing – an old fashioned over-bath shower with a somewhat irregular temperature.

The beach bar was very good, attentive beach service, and excellent food. The cocktails were made to order and reasonably priced. The terrace bar had a lovely view, but lacked a little in ambience – perhaps they need to think about music. The breakfasts were good, not excellent. Food choice was fine, and service fast – just slightly limited and repetitive choice

The spa was lovely, we massages and my partner enjoyed excellent manicure and pedicure.

This was a good four star hotel in UK classification, not a five star by some way, but a well priced and enjoyable break. We would certainly stay there again.

Belle Vue is a really lovely hotel set into the rocks overlooking a small cove with a small pebble beach part of which is private for the hotel and part is public. Beach shoes are a must also for swimming as it's very stoney. It does have a terrace for eating outside and loungers for sunbathing with towels given. There is no outdoor pool. It does have an inside pool and jacuzzi but the water was freezing as cold as the sea!! The hotel itself is immaculate and very modern with a lovely spacious restaurant cant comment on the food as we only visited for breakfast. The drinks are quite pricey and only had a snack on the terrace once a panini which cost £9!!!! needless to say I didn't bother again. There are two lovely restaurants just up from the hotel which did fab food, the restaurant Magellen was the better of the two. The hotel rooms have lovely views and are very nice and a good size but I would not class them as luxurious for the price of £333 per night which is what we paid. The bathroom was also a generous size and was immaculate. Bed was large and very comfortable and towels and bed linen were changed every day. Only downside was there is no teas made which I notice people have mentioned in their reviews, this was a miss and also the air con wasn't very good at all. The hotel is a 20 minute walk down into the old town which wasn't a problem at all. We had a hire car and there is parking available adjacent to the hotel. Croatia is beautiful and I really enjoyed my stay in Dubrovnik and would recommend and stay in this hotel again.
