We spent our honeymoon traveling the Dalmatian Coast. The first 4 days of our honeymoon were spent at the Hotel Bellevue and the stay couldn't have been lovelier.

The hotel is a flipped design, with the lobby at the top floor and the rooms below the lobby. The hotel is built into a cliff and so the lobby (and every room) offers STUNNING views of the bay and Adriatic. The lobby and rooms are decorated in cool blues and greens--linens and local art.

We arrived to a welcoming front desk. A staff member took our bags and another staff member walked us to our room, giving us a tour of the hotel and its amenities while we walked. We dined at the hotel's restaurant the first night and the food far exceeded our expectations: the menu was creative and the food was exquisitely cooked.

The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the Old City. The walk offers stunning vistas, so in reality it might be a 25-30 minute walk! It's a pleasant walk, especially going to the Old City (the way back is up hill).

The room was slightly small, but had a nice deck. Our biggest complaint with the room was the pillows! Lumpy, misshapen...ouch. The mattress was okay and we were able to sleep as long was didn't move too much.

The hotel's spa is set beside the interior infinity pool, overlooking the beach. Spa services are affordable and enjoyable!

We took advantage of the helpful concierge, who booked us onto the Elaphite Island cruise and helped us find a car for our trip to Split.

We recommend this classy hotel, but do be warned: the 'private' beach is not so private. There is supposedly one section designated for hotel guests, but this section isn't separated from the main beach. Normally not a problem, but in this situation the beach was quite popular with the locals, who changed and played really loud games on the each afternoon. If you truly want relaxation, I recommend enjoying the view from the interior pool.

Stayed for 3 nights are the Bellevue and enjoyed it greatly. The Hotel was completely renovated about 4 years ago to a very good standard and is extremely well maintained. It is well situated on top of a cliff about a 15 minute walk (20 mins on the way back) from the Old City with a small private beach as part of a small secluded public beach. What elevated our stay was the first class service from all the staff we encountered. Friendly helpful and knowledgable staff who were always able to and willing to help (beach staff who would not take a tip is one example!).

Staying in a Deluxe room you might be a little disappointed by the small size of the room but it is very well appointed with free wifi, L'Occitane soaps and shampoos etc.

The TV has the usual sat channels (CNN, BBC World).

The breakfast terrace has a lovely view over the bay and breakfast itself is more than adequate but if I was being picky I would say could do with more fruit choices and a good five star should have an egg station and offer more freshly cooked alternatives.

The hotel has a number of different levels and I would imagine that not all have as good a view as the Deluxe Rooms that we had.

The main drawback is that only one lift serves the hotel and the beach and this can take a long time to come.

Dear Guest,

thank you for your comment posted on Tripadvisor. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed greatly in your stay at hotel Bellevue.

We are also very grateful on your compliments for our staff. It is a great pleasure to hear that guests recognize efforts that our staff invest in their everyday's work.

Regarding your comment about lift to the beach we are aware that sometimes this might be a problem. Being on such a beautiful location on the sea cliffs obviously has some of disadvantages.

Thank you once again for staying with us and we hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you again in near future.

Sincerely yours,

-Topped all my expectations. -Outstanding location with great beach, pool and spa.-Excellent staff and very helpful and accomodating.-Delicious breakfast included in our room rate.-Room had a magnificient balcony.-Hotel was kind enough to welcome us with a bottle of Prosecco, roses for our wedding anniversary.-Cocktails were amazing at the beachside and terrace bar on the 4th floor and reasonably priced.-Lunch and snacks definitely signaled a culinary acumen (still on its way up in most other Croatia restaurants we tried).-Great beds for a relaxing sleep and state of the art rooms.-Easy and scenic walk to Old Town, and walk uphill back helps you work off the calories from dinner!-Also, great hair stylist ('Bruno') right in the hotel!. We will definitely return if we ever revisit Dubrovnik - gem of the Adriatic.

We stayed at the Bellevue for 3 nights and thought it was absolute perfection. My fiance had booked the room as my part of my birthday present so I'm not exactly sure about value for money, but I can say that the room was fabulous. It was very modern, with beautiful decor and a clean and modern bathroom. The toiletries (L'Occitane) were replaced daily and chocolates were placed on the pillow in the evening. Our balcony overlooked the beach and the view was literally breathtaking. It was lovely to be in the room with the balcony doors open and hear the crashing of the waves.

The hotel itself was set into the cliff and so the reception was on the top floor and the rooms were located going downwards towards the sea. the lift was glass and you could see the views whilst travelling in it. Breakfast was of very good quality and it could be taken on an outdoor terrace, again with the same views. We didn't eat in the restaurant as it seemed rather quiet and we preferred to venture out to the Old Town.

The service was outstanding and the concierge was very helpful.

The only slight downside to the hotel was that the location was slightly further from the Old Town than some of the other hotels we saw. However, that is a compromise in that the view wouldn't be so spectacular if it was further down the hill! The walk to the old town was about 10 minutes (downhill on way there and uphill on way back). We always chose to walk but taxis were inexpensive and I think that there was a bus available.

We did go to the Spa. The steam room wasn't working but the sauna was great. The pool is good and (at the risk of sounding repetitive) enjoys the same views. The jacuzzi was also very relaxing. We didn't have any treatments there.

Overall a beautiful place to stay. I should say that Dubrovnik itself is fabulous and I would highly recommend it. It is one of the most beautiful places I have been and there is plenty to do, including excursions to Montenegro. We will definitely return.

My experience at Hotel Bellevue was a great one. The hotel staff is very friendly. The rooms were clean and spacious. The free breakfast was pretty good. The restaurant and bar terraces have a great view for eating/drinking. I got a massage at the hotel spa which was amazing! The spa also has a small fitness center that is free for all guests. Access to the private hotel beach was a huge plus. The beaches are rocky, so it might be helpful to bring shoes to wear in the water. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the Old Town, but note that it is mostly uphill on the way back (but not too bad). I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Dubrovnik.

Very disappointed with our stay at the Bellevue. It is a lovely hotel, with facilities fitting its 5* rating. Beautiful views, great private beach, nice modern, trendy décor, lovely pool and spa, and fantastic maid service (she tidied up our clothes scattered everywhere). BUT, our room was not a 5* room, nor were the 2 we saw before that one. We paid a lot of money to stay here for our 2 days in Dubrovnik as it was our wedding anniversary and were very disappointed.

We arrived very hot and tired from the Ferry port, having been advised there that we could walk it (Dont, its far too far with bags and the heat!) We wanted to get straight to our room and showered and rested. We got told we had been upgraded to a better room and the receptionist showed us to it, but we instantly saw the problem- twin beds! It was not much of a room upgrade either, the balcony looked into a cliff making the room dark and the sea view non-existent. So we asked to be moved to a room with a king bed and were next shown the room next door (412 I think?) It was horrible. Long, dark (even more in the cliff) and stunk of damp. Finally we were shown to a room off a random corridor (602) which was ok, but no upgrade this time, so lost the balcony, and gained a small window with sea view across a roof. Fine, we'll stay here, but overnight we discovered the irritating hum from the nearby aircon plant or something, and the bed creaked like anything. The free wifi was too weak to use in the room. We were very sad to see the hotel from the beach and see the many lovely rooms with sea facing balcony's and large windows.
The moral of the story for me- Better to book the best room in a cheap hotel than the cheap room in the best hotel. They shouldn't call their cheaper room 5* quality hotel rooms, they arent.

Dear Guest,

thank you for your review. We are very sad to hear that we did not meet your expectations, especially because of the occasion. It is always the worst thing for the hotelier to hear that the guests were not satisfied with something after they are gone already.

Looking at your reservation file we can see that you booked a classic room which is actually room without balcony. Front desk staff offered you superior room 417 with a balcony, but with twin beds (one next to other). At that time we did not know that it's your wedding anniversary as booking was made through the internet without any notes. We are always trying to provide free upgrades depending on occupancy. During your stay we did not have lots of options due to high occupancy.

We could now probably offer a hundred of explanations and theories on this case, but we would still not be satisfied knowing that you left our hotel disappointed in some aspects. Therefore, I will try to contact you through your Tripadvisor profile and try to give you more details on this.

We hope that we will have opportunity to welcome you again.

Kind regards,
