We booked this trip from thompson website. As usual thompson took care of everything as expected. Good location as you desperately need to stay abit away from th old town. Rooms are clean and great there is a free of charge safety box! Try to get the 1st or 2nd floor rooms as the guests at higher floors was complaining about the lifts. Decent food but lacking variety. In the end last day all I had was watermelon! Reasonable prices for cocktails and other drinks. Lovely staff all very kind and helpful. Free wifi in the rooms and jakuzi! 10mins away from th city centre, and the sea is next door. The holiday overall was excellent but spoilt sometimes by very rude local people! Be prepared for this, we were all surprised seeing how unwelcoming people could be. July was soooo hot as sometimes you really need to be indoors. That's when this hotel comes with lots of cons - they have indoor pool indoor jakuzi and spa services,I would not ask for more! Recommended!

Arrived back 15 July after a fabulous week at the Grand Park. We had a sea view room on the 2nd floor which was fab. The air conditioning is the best I have ever come across in a hotel. We came with Thomsons so arrived about middday, I already knew from previous trip advisors that we would not be allowed into the room until 2pm, so just chilled with a glass of wine and had a wander around Lapad which is lovely. The room was clean and spacious and we thoroughly enjoyed the food - we were half board. One day we had lunch at the taverna linked to the hotel and I had the best pizza I have ever had in my life. There are some lovely coves if you are prepared to walk a bit. One cove is down a lot of steps and has a sign at the top for renting little speed boat things for 2 people so not everyone knows it is there, although it is busy with locals who do at the weekend. We practically had it to ourselves during the week. Dubrovnik town is fabulous. We booked a walking tour through Thomsons at the beginning of our holiday and this was the best thing as it gave us a good perspective on Dubrovnik for the rest of our many visits. The no. 4 bus will get you there and is not as full as the no. 6 but I have to say the no. 6 is a much more scenic route. Get off the no. 6 at the harbour and have a glass of wine at the lovely taverna and look at the cruise ships and from there, there is scenic walk (signposted tourist trail) along the coast and you eventually come to a big hotel where the bus terminus is so you can catch a bus back the rest of the way into Lapad. There is a cultural festival on at the moment in Dubrovnik with lots of events such as orchestra's, choirs, folk, opera etc. Bearing in mind we are more rock fans, we booked to see the Zagreb Philarmonic Orchestra in the Dominican Church in Dubrovnik - it was amazing, if a little hot. So I would urge you to look to see what is on in the week you are there and go, even if it is not your thing. I have a timetable of events but as I type my suitcase is somewhere else - more of this later - but I hope to get it back tomorrow and I will then have a list if anyone wants to ask me. We did the cable car at about 8.30pm and we were the only 2 in it going up. There is a restaurant at the top called Panorma (something like that) and if you plan on going there I would see if you could book ahead and get a table with the view of Dubrovnik. It was breathtaking by night. We walked the walls late afternoon about 4.30pm which was great, much, much quieter. Don't be put off by crowds in Dubrovnik as these are usually worse at the gates and thin out down the side streets. Back to Lapad, lovely town with great coastal walks. The Cave Bar is a must. A fabulous holiday and I did not want to come back. Alas I did, minus my suitcase along with a few other passengers on the same flight. We all mean to do it but never do, so take my advice split your clothes between each other's cases and any clothes you really love try to fit in your hand luggage. Labels on the outside, but I had put a piece of A4 inside my case as well with my name and mobile number on. Also something we did not realise (probably just us) the little bits of paper they stick to your passport when you check in are your luggage receipts and have a tracking number on to help trace your luggage. I have thankfully had a phone call this morning to say they have found my case and I will get it back tomorrow. Hope you book this hotel and love it as much as we didxxx

Arrived at 12:00 but could not check in till 14:00 so sent off for a walk when we returned to check in there was no que and they were very quick, friendly and efficiant.
We requested a Pool Vew room and as ever found ourselves at the rear of the hotel looking at the car park and a crain ( I think I will request this next time just to see what happens!!)

Good Points - Nice room, good AC, free safe, nice shower mini bar with room to pop some of your own in and it was never removed.
Bad Points - not much storage space, small balcony, food was avarage at best, the same as I can remember eating on halfboard in spain in the 1980's. Plenty of choice but dull and a bit tastless we ate out on 4 of our 7 night stay that said there is not much in the way of "local" food to be found either all restaurants are a bit samey either expensive grilled fish & meat or cheap Pizza.

Even though we were at the rear of the hotel over looking the car park it was still very quiet and ther was no noise from the nearby building site.

My holiday bugbare the sunbed hoggers....ggrrrrrrr why do hotels let people do it !
The pool is quiet big but not enough sunbeds to go round but if you do get on one and have a look around at least half of them are ocupied by unaccompanied towels !

Very good base for getting in to Dubrovnic just 10/15 mins on the bus - Top tip find the bus stop for bus no 4 (bottom of the garden out of gate and left you can get a ticket fron the kiosk on the way) rather than bus no 6 (top of strip and right) much more pleasant a ride and it goes every 15 mins.

Loved Dubrovnic, if you only do one thing make it the cable car ride and the museum at the top - Excellent.

Three Island tour was a bit of a disapointment to me, if you do go don't waste your money on the buggy to the sandy beach on Lopud it really wasn't worth it.

I hope you have a good holiday, I did.

Room Tip: Go high for the veiws.

We stayed at The Grand Park 28.6.2012 for 2 weeks. Had a sea view room on the 6th floor well worth the extra to see the Cruise liners and others boats comming and going. Room cleaned daily and clean towels. Air con quiet and efficient ( we had this on through the night). Free safe, pool towels and use of spa facilities. No complaints regarding the restaurant, tables always available varied choices of food to a high standard. From arriving at 1.30pm to find our room ready, all staff through out our holiday could not have been more helpful and friendly.
The Lapad area is well kept and enjoyable to walk round. We went on various trips including the 3 Island tour (not to be missed) numerous days walking into Dubrovnik and back.
Would highly recomend this hotel and area.
Thank you to all the staff.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a sea view and request a high floor.

My partner and I stayed here for the first week of July, and we both found the hotel to be a wonderful place to stay for our first ever visit to Croatia.
We had no complaints at all about the hotel itself. It is in an excellent location. The rooms were always kept clean; we had a garden facing room on the second floor which was ideal. The food served at the hotel was very good. Breakfast was the same every day but had plenty to choose from, and evening meal was something different every night. The hotel pool area was good, but you do need to be up early to get a good bed by the pool. The indoor pool is also very nice.
We visited the old town twice using the no.4 bus as this is the bus our rep recommended (Diana was very helpful and friendly).
The cave bar is also a must as we spent many nights there, and the staff are lovely.
Would definitely return to this hotel and Dubrovnik!

I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights - 3 nights with a friend in Villa Marie. We had a very small room and a not too well functioning bathroom. The shower was not fixed properly to the wall and consequently flooded the floor every time used. Also we had a terrible sewage smell about which we told housekeeping. It was better when we came in that night but the next day just as bad. Definitely a communication problem with staff who don't speak English. On recommendations I had read here I booked two nights on my own for a double room with balcony and ocean view and moved to the other Villa. This was a huge disappointment. The room was so small I had to move around the bed sideways. There was no chair (because there room was so small) to sit on other than the wooden desk chair. The "sea view" was hardly visible and in the afternoon around 4 p.m. when I cam back to the room it was far to hot to sit on the balcony. For this I paid E250 per night!. I must say the grounds were far maintained than the rooms. This is a nice area with lots of restaurants and bars and walks. The bus into the old city is easy. In waiting in the Lobby for my airport taxi I got talking to other guests who were just as disappointed with the hotel as me. I was glad to leave.
