“Great hotel, grat location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2013

We are a family of 4-with 2 teenagers-and stayed here 14-21st July 2013. Our rooms were really good-especially the large corner room we had-masses of space! The bathroom was clean and well equipped-even though the Jacuzzi effect wasn't working. the air con was fully controllable which made it so comfortable. Lots of space to unpack. The buffet meals had loads of choice-the salad bar being especially good. Good to find somewhere that doesn't overcharge for drinks, too.The pools were great and gym nice and cool. The pool bar was handy for a snack and the taverna had lovely food which was reasonable priced. Location couldn't have been better-shops, restaurants etc close by. 5 minutes walk to Lapad bay. 10-15 minutes on the bus to the Pile gate (old town), with buses going every 10 mins-no 6 nearer but no 4 less crowded. Old Town is so beautiful-never seen such blue and clear sea! Walk round the walls, go up the cable car for fantastic views and story of the 90s war in the fort. Boat trips to Cavtat and the Elefati islands are lovely. Montenegro is only an hour away and so different!
All in all-fantastic holiday, fantastic place, fantastic hotel

Room Tip: Corner room on 6th floor-spacious, no noise and great views

The hotel has one of the best locations, very close to the beach. The hotel is quite good, with clean rooms, great service, friendly personnel, delicious and diverse breakfast. Its a great place to go with the kids, as there is a park just in front off the hotel with lots of entertainment for the kids. There is small promenade nearby hotel with lots of places to eat and drink.
Old City is 10 minutes by taxi from the hotel, and there is exchange office close to the hotel as well. The only thing that is not working is WIFI, so make sure you check it before you book in if thats important.
In general, i would strongly recommend to choose this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms on the upper floors, they have great view on the sea

I'll try not to repeat too much what others have said but plus points were:
- the amazing view over the bay and balcony
- location near the beach, shops, bus stop, coastal walks, harbour area, cinema, bank - I don't think any hotel in the area has a better location
- friendly and helpful staff
- quiet and efficient air conditioning which you could leave on overnight
- excellent gym equipment and lovely cool room
- free wifi throughout
- safe and fridge in room (although a minibar which is superfluous)
- great food - simple fish and meat dishes which were well cooked - and lovely salads and plentiful vegetables
- modern attractive shower room
- comfortable beds
- the beach cafe where we had delicious calamari at lunchtime - this also belongs to the hotel
- relaxed atmosphere with very little procedures or rules eg. no need to check in at meal times or shorts ban etc. No need to dress up at all.
- library of English books - fantastic - I managed to read six books during my week so it was great to have so many to choose from.

Minus points
- the poor goldfish in the spa were really suffering. They were only ok the day the water was changed (because there is not enough oxygen in the tiny tank) and that only happened once while we were there. We did point it out but were just told "we know".
- horrible smell in the indoor pool area
- jacuzzi and hot tub out of action
- no shade anywhere - barely any parasols and no shady trees in the park area - difficult to get out of the sun/heat
- not many staff visibly employed around the hotel. No-one to help with luggage or serve drinks round the pool or to generally tidy up - there were bits of old parasol stands by the pool area. Reception, dining room and spa staff were however plenty.
- wifi was a bit flaky and kept cutting out but hey, it was free so one can't really complain

As for the surrounding area it is lovely especially the coastal walk towards the Importanne Resort with the bar on the end with stunning views and figs to eat off the tree on the way. We also liked the strip of restaurants along the promenade. As well as the Tommy supermarket which has been mentioned, there is one closer in the new apartment square to the right of the hotel (looking at the sea) - Studenac - and this complex also contains a cinema showing English language films and a bakery.

We found it too hot in Croatia in early August. The Old Town was unbearably hot so we turned back. We would go back in June or September next time.

Next to the main hotel building there are two annexes providing accomodation facilities, but the rooms there seem to be quite outdated, which gave me an overal 3-star experience. It seems that the rooms in the main building are much better, so make sure to check your reservation in advance.

The hotel is well located, 3km walking distance to the Old Town. Nearby there is a public beach, a supermarket and a bus station (10min ride with nr.6 to the Old Town). Hotel staff is very firendly and helpful. Compliments on a rich buffet breakfast.

Room Tip: Choose main hotel building instead of annexes.

This hotel is in Lapad which is about a 10 min bus ride from Dubrovnik old town. It has a gentle breeze and isnt as built up as the old town so therefore cooler. On check-in the Reception staff were pleasant and knowledgeable. Rooms more than adequate and food for half board has plenty of options. The pool didnt appear to have been cleaned the whole week we were there (inside and outdoor no sign of being cleaned) - the pools are also sea water which isnt ideal. It served its purpose well for a week. The only thing that truly bugged me was the lack of staff around the resort, there was nobody to assist with putting up parasols, nobody cleaning away dirty glasses etc from the pool and they all seemed to be working in the restaurant. Other than that a nice break.

Room Tip: I had 401 which was a sea view room with a balcony (2 single beds) - AIr conditioning was fabulous a...

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Park for 10 nights B+B in July. We are three female friends and had hoped to be in a suitably sized room (not for 2 adults and a child) we were a bit disappointed with our initial room allocation in the Villa section of the hotel, however within a day or two we were moved to another room, which although not bigger had a balcony facing the quiet gardens. Apparently there are more suitable larger rooms at the end of the villa and main hotel rooms and we would definitely ask for this the next time but none were available during our stay. We liked the villa part as it was quiet and less 'hotelly' Wifi excellent through out the hotel and free. Safe in room also free. Staff polite, courteous and helpful.
Location of hotel is excellent- in the centre of Lapad area. Buses located behind hotel - (10-15 mins to the Old Town Dubrovnik. Bus 4 or 6 every few minutes. Buy in newspaper stands or at the bus kiosk: 12 kuna) We also discovered you could get bus no. 5 from there which takes you directly to the cable car steps in the old town. Good variety of restaurants/bars and shops on a short walk way beside the hotel. Beautiful, stunning location - blue sky, clean water at the piers and pebbly beaches. Very clean, tidy and safe. Wide variety of nationalities and age groups seem to be staying in the area.
Highlights - More Cave bar (on coastal path), City Walls, Cable car, Montengro day trip , Elphadite islands and the amazing ice- cream available everywhere !!!!! Fantastic holiday :)

Room Tip: email hotel when booking or as soon as and be specific of your needs- they will try to accommodate y...

We stayed is the Grand Hotel Park for 7 nights in July. Had a lovely time. The room was a good size and the bathroom had a nice jets shower in there. It was cleaned to a high standard and had great air conditioning. The outdoor pool is a salt water pool and there are lots of beds around the pool. There is not hurry to get there and put towels down because there were plenty of beds available.

We stayed half board. The breakfasts were incredible - lots of variety. The evening meals had less variety. Mostly grilled meats and fish with about 4 varieties of potatoes. Would have preferred a bit more variety - but lots of good salad. On the Friday night a local bad came and played Croatian songs which was great fun.

The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a fantastic location for the beach and other restaurants. You can get the bus into the old town very easily from just down the road. All in all would definitely recommend!

Room Tip: We had a non pool view which was still lovely - views of the Croatian hills!
