“Both me and girlfriend agree it was great. that doesn't happen that often!!!”
Reviewed 16 May 2009

My girlfriend and I stayed in the villas, just next to the main hotel. These were cheaper I believe than the main hotel, but wouldn't change if I was to go back. Room was decent size with en-suite facilities. Warm running water all the time so no worries there.

Hotel has a nice outside pool, salt water, but shower beside it to rinse off. Sunbeds can be of a premium, but your OK to get one until maybe 10-1030 in the morning. Don't agree at all with the last comment as we were there around the same time and had no such problems in getting a bed. Maybe it would get busier during the July period? Pool side bar, very friendly bar man.

Breakfast was typical cold meats, hot food ( eggs, sausages, bacon etc...) toast available, cereals etc... Good selection. We did not eat evening meals there.

Hotel is 2 minute walk from promenade leading down to pebble beach. Water very clean and very enjoyable to swim in. Sometimes nice to go there on the hotter days as you get the sea breeze to cool off. Along the promenade are plenty of restaurants, bars etc.. They vary in price, as to does the quality of the food. This does not mean that the more expensive the better by the way. Best place we ate was down by the seawall , the first restaurant that you come to. Reasonable too. Beautiful view.

Promenade does have people trying to sell you trips etc.. but you get that everywhere. Just walk past them, no bother.

Old town is within a twenty minute bus ride, the number 6. Bust stop is five minute walk from hotel and costs 8kuna each way. So about £1 each journey. A must place to go.

Dubrovnik is a great place to go, but only for maybe 1 week. Thats is plenty of time to see around and have a few beach/pool days. Go on one of the island tours, it was a nice day out.

Grand park hotel is a big, friendly hotel in a nice location. There are 2 pools - one indoors (quite big) but it is unbarable to stay in there as the room is like a green house! The outdoor swimming pool is big and salt water which makes it nice and refreshing. Although you have to get up about 6:00 literally because woman are like crazy animals running and swearing at people to move so they can grab a sun bed!! Also the pool is filled with screaming young children!!

There is a poolside bar selling refreshments such as drinks ( soft and alcaholic). I never went to the restaurant but it looked quite nice. There were restaurants around but there was only one that was half way decent, and it was called 'El Paytalos' they were a small family run buisiness but were very tasty. Also about a 5 minutes walk away is another nice restaurant by a supermarket that is surprisingly tasty too!

The beach is just down the road and is quite large. I would suggest getting a sunbed towards the back of the beach as by the front attracts families with loud young children - still its okay if you are family with young kids. It gets rather busy, so i would suggest you hire a sunbed in the morning for the whole day and leave your towel on it whilst you go for a spot of lunch.

Okay - the small bad point. When you walk into the village, either to have a spot of lunch or are on your way to the beach, you get harassed by the croatian market sellers. They pull you to their stalls and try and flog you off junk! We had to constantly vear from side to side just to avoid them so we could get where we wanted to in a decent time.

I would also suggest you to buy a pancake from a little pancake stall - they are cheap and delicious! This stall is on the way back from the hotel and on the way to the beach!

Had a lovely time in croatia our room was on the 7th floor over looking the baysea view which was beautiful. our room was a good size and the bathroom was very nice and the water very hot, but could have done with a few more shelves, there was a good choice of food available at breakfast and evening meal. it was the end of the season and wasn't busy. very handy for bus into the old town, gets very busy when cruise ships are in. getting from the airport to Dubrovnik was easy you can catch the bus from right outside the airport 35kuna's each each way (to pile gate or bus station then another bus to your hotel) alot cheaper than taxi which was 250kuna's.

We stayed at this hotel in early October. I agree with most of what has been stated in other reviews but do not stay here if you like to take a shower warmer than lukewarm. We were with a tour group of 45 and many of us had cold showers most days. I talked to the front desk, the hotel manager, and the tour leader also talked to the manager. The water was just as cool the last morning as it had been for all 4 days. To the hotels credit they have solar hot water but the backup is apparently not sufficient or hot enough to meet the demands of the rooms.

Otherwise the room, cleanliness, breakfast, location, and pools were all very nice. If not for the hot water issue I would rate this hotel a 4 easily.

Just returned from a week at Grand Hotel Park. Both me and my husband loved it.

The hotel is located in the Lapad area its literally a two minute walk to the beach which was full of sunbeds but the beach is not sandy but big pebbles but the pool area at the hotel makes up for this it was lovely both the indoor and outdoor pool area were fantastic.

We were located on the the top floor (7th) facing out over the mountains. The room was fine cleaned every day.

We were stopping at the hotel on a half board basis the breakfast was lovely plenty of choice the evening meal choice was also o.k.

There was plenty of walking to do around the Lapad area if you wanted, the hotel was a two minute walk to the promenade which was lined with bars and restraunts it was very quiet when we were there but was coming to end of season so was expected but in high season would expect it would get rather busy.

The bus to the old town runs regular at the end of the promenade day and night and only costs around a £1.00 and takes around 10 mins to get there. The old town is amazing we loved it and you must do the walk around the walls costs about £.6.00 each.

While we were there we also did the trip to Mostar in Bosnia this trip was amazing and would also recommend. Lots of history and plenty of bazaar type shops to look round, we had the pleasure in seeing two lads jump off the old bridge while we were there wow the must be mad. Would deffinately recommend this trip.

I could go on forever but I'll stop there to sum up we both had a great holiday, great weather for October apart from one day which was cloudy but we would deffinately recommend this hotel and beautiful Dubrovnik!

We stayed here at the end of the season, so I'm guessing it's much busier during the peak time. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't too quiet, still plenty of people, cant imagine it busier, but at least it was pretty easy to get a lounger by the pool.

The hotel is lovely and modern and clean, and I don't think you can ask for more. Its one of the bigger ones in lapad, and theres plenty of areas to sit and enjoy a drink, outside, or inside, at night.

Its near the pedestrian walk way, but not right on it, which I liked. But it's not on a main road, like Hotel Lapad, which opened onto a road, which no pavement to walk on, which scared me. Buildings on one side of the road and water on the other. You have to keep an eye out for traffic then dodge out the way.
Anyway, no worries like that at this hotel.

Its a 5 min walk up the pedestrian walkway to the bus stop for the public bus into the old town. We went into the old town a couple of days and a couple of nights during our trip. But mostly we just stayed in lapad, finding somewhere to eat near the hotel.

We stayed in one of the bigger rooms, since we booked a twin. Although the twins beds are pushed up together, which makes it look like a double room...

We didn't eat dinner in the hotel, but the choice for breakfast was good.

I think the hotels all been done up recently, and any bad reviews on here must be old or just posted by people who will moan about anything. Looking around, and seeing other hotels, I think this was the best choice. Not in the middle of nowhere, like some of them, and not on busy roads, but just right for coming out the hotel and going a wander...

All in all, very good, glad we chose this hotel.

The whole stay at this hotel was delightful. Get a sea view and watch the sun set over the bay. Food was varied, tasty and very plentiful, but if you feel like a change, the super promenade of cafes and restaurants is five minutes walk from the hotel.
Easy to get to the old town by bus and lovely walks round the peninsula. We loved it.
