I have just returned from a week's stay in this hotel and found it satisfactory. We had no problems with the food, you should not expect fine dining from a half- board buffet. Had no problems with the food temperature. The wine was expensive so drank beer with our meal.Lapad peninsula was lovely for walking, and we often walked in to Dubrovnik which took about 45 minutes as we found bus 6 pretty busy. If you cross over the street from the bus stop it is a short walk down the hill to the very pleasant harbour.you can also take bus 4 once you have your bearings. try taking bus no10 or boat to Cavtat it was very peaceful. I did not use swimming pool but it seemed to fill up pretty quickly in the morning. We had packed lunch one day instead of dinner as we wanted to see Dubrovnik by night which was lovely and much quieter with no cruise ship crowds. Our weather was a bit temperamental but had more sun than rain.Lots of nice bars with comfy swing seats on the promenade by the hotel -great for people watching! All in all a very pleasant holiday.

The hotel is in a decent spot if you want to stay in the Lapad area with easy access to Dubrovnik by bus approx £1. The pebble beach is nearby with tired concrete bathing platforms and sunbeds for hire. The nearby promonade has a few tourist shops with a few places to eat and drink and people watch in the evenings. The hotel is recently refurbished and well kept. Rooms are modern but small with insufficient cupboards and shelves, you will need to leave some clothing in your suitcases. Rooms have a free of charge safe and a mini bar that is sealed and carries a warning implying that it should not be used for personal items. Balconies are tiny with a table and two chairs. Views from the main building's sea view rooms are very nice but beware of being put in a sea facing room that is lower than the 3rd floor because your view may be obscured by the restaraunt 's roof. The quality variety of the food in the restaraunt is poor and not 4 star. Presentation is a la school meals. We particulary disliked the fact that restaraunt staff who collected used dinner plates, dirty cutlery and waste food between courses, wheeled their uncovered trollies up to our table while we were still dining. Yuk, we've never experienced that before! The bar, lobby and outside seating was quite nice and well kept but the staff were not over pleasant apart from one guy who ran the pool bar. The pool area was ok but there were not enough sun beds for guests.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a week 23rd to 30th May. We travelled out with Jet2 and sat on the left hand side of the plane going out .We had lovely views of the Alps the Croatian coastline and Dubrovnik. We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel at a cost of Kn250 which we thought was worth it for the comfort and convenience.
The Grand Hotel Park is a seven story hotel with 2 two storey villas set in the grounds.
We had a sea-veiw room on the third floor . The room was a little small but had a safe, mini-bar ,and flat screen tv which showed satalite channels and also pay per veiw movies . The bathroom had a power shower and a hairdryer. Our small balcony overlooked the pool . You might want to consider asking for a higher floor as the flat roof of the indoor pool could block your sea-veiw. The outdoor sea water pool was quite large and had sunbeds with matresses and parasols there was also a bar ,which served drinks and snacks. The upper terrace at the pool had comfortable seats and shade . There is also an indoor pool similar in size. The lobby bar has large screen tvs offering slightly reduced prices at a Happy Hour each evening. Internet access is also available and there is a small shop .
The dinning room is quite large and overlooks the pool . There are only a few tables for two . Food is buffet stlyle but is not keep very hot on the bain maries.
Breakfast is the usual cereals , fruit, cold meats , and eggs ,scrambled ,boiled , fried and unappetising omelettes there is also sausages and bacon. The dinner in the evening is also buffet and for those people not on a package is priced at KN150. There is soup ,salad, cold meats and a range of meat dishes and vegetables . Deserts are ice-cream ,fruit and cakes. Once a week there are tradional singers Waiters serve drinks in the restaurant . A small bottle of wine is Kn 20 large bottles around Kn 150 a beer Kn30 and a soft drink Kn18. If you want to eat out in the evening you can have lunch in the dinning room instead but you need to give reception 24hours notice. We had the ala carte lunch when we arrived for 80Kn each for one course . It was just Ok. We found the hotel staff very pleasant
The best thing about this hotel is the location . You are only a short stroll from the main street ,where there are lots of restaurants a few souvenier shops , and a small supermarket. We ate lunch here each day I can recomend the Agora restaurant at the hotel Perla who served a light lunch for Kn35 good fish, and the small pizza Margarita Kn28 at the beachfront restaurant at the Kompas hotel but steer clear of the small fish on their menu. At night it is very pleasant to sit on the swinging seats in these bar/restaurants and people watch . There is also a path leading round the coast from the beach.
It is very easy to travel to the Old Town on the bus . You have a choice of 2 routes No 4 Or No 6 and the price is Kn10.
We also did the three Elafiti Islands tour booked with Adriana at a cost of Kn180 each with lunch . which was a nice day out.

Staff are lovely, bedrooms not cleaned thoroughly, bathroom rarely cleaned at all.
not sufficient shelves for folded clothes, we had to leave a lot in our suitcases. room facing the mountains not as roomy as facing the sea.
Breakfast the same every morning, though acceptable, but dinner was terrible, tasteless rubbish. I do not feel the food was cooked by a chef it was so amateurishly done. Strawberries every single night for dessert with tasteless cake and icecream.
I had to complain to the food and beverage manager. He said he would speak to the chef, but too late for us. Certainly not 4 star food. Thomson rep did nothing for us.
the only thing good was the location and Dubrovnik was fantastic.

My girlfriend and I stayed in the villas, just next to the main hotel. These were cheaper I believe than the main hotel, but wouldn't change if I was to go back. Room was decent size with en-suite facilities. Warm running water all the time so no worries there.

Hotel has a nice outside pool, salt water, but shower beside it to rinse off. Sunbeds can be of a premium, but your OK to get one until maybe 10-1030 in the morning. Don't agree at all with the last comment as we were there around the same time and had no such problems in getting a bed. Maybe it would get busier during the July period? Pool side bar, very friendly bar man.

Breakfast was typical cold meats, hot food ( eggs, sausages, bacon etc...) toast available, cereals etc... Good selection. We did not eat evening meals there.

Hotel is 2 minute walk from promenade leading down to pebble beach. Water very clean and very enjoyable to swim in. Sometimes nice to go there on the hotter days as you get the sea breeze to cool off. Along the promenade are plenty of restaurants, bars etc.. They vary in price, as to does the quality of the food. This does not mean that the more expensive the better by the way. Best place we ate was down by the seawall , the first restaurant that you come to. Reasonable too. Beautiful view.

Promenade does have people trying to sell you trips etc.. but you get that everywhere. Just walk past them, no bother.

Old town is within a twenty minute bus ride, the number 6. Bust stop is five minute walk from hotel and costs 8kuna each way. So about £1 each journey. A must place to go.

Dubrovnik is a great place to go, but only for maybe 1 week. Thats is plenty of time to see around and have a few beach/pool days. Go on one of the island tours, it was a nice day out.

Grand park hotel is a big, friendly hotel in a nice location. There are 2 pools - one indoors (quite big) but it is unbarable to stay in there as the room is like a green house! The outdoor swimming pool is big and salt water which makes it nice and refreshing. Although you have to get up about 6:00 literally because woman are like crazy animals running and swearing at people to move so they can grab a sun bed!! Also the pool is filled with screaming young children!!

There is a poolside bar selling refreshments such as drinks ( soft and alcaholic). I never went to the restaurant but it looked quite nice. There were restaurants around but there was only one that was half way decent, and it was called 'El Paytalos' they were a small family run buisiness but were very tasty. Also about a 5 minutes walk away is another nice restaurant by a supermarket that is surprisingly tasty too!

The beach is just down the road and is quite large. I would suggest getting a sunbed towards the back of the beach as by the front attracts families with loud young children - still its okay if you are family with young kids. It gets rather busy, so i would suggest you hire a sunbed in the morning for the whole day and leave your towel on it whilst you go for a spot of lunch.

Okay - the small bad point. When you walk into the village, either to have a spot of lunch or are on your way to the beach, you get harassed by the croatian market sellers. They pull you to their stalls and try and flog you off junk! We had to constantly vear from side to side just to avoid them so we could get where we wanted to in a decent time.

I would also suggest you to buy a pancake from a little pancake stall - they are cheap and delicious! This stall is on the way back from the hotel and on the way to the beach!
