Splendid hotel, beautiful setting. The pool area so near the sea was divine, and it was a easy walk from this elegant hotel into the Old Town. Breakfast on the terrace was a dream.. We would definitely go back.

The hotel is situated only 15 mins from the old town, which is the main tourist attraction in the city.
The hotel on first impression looks a little old styled, especially looking at the rooms and the reception. But the property is maintained very well. It has its own personal access to the sea (no beach here though) and has a small pool. The indoor pool is even smaller!
The view is stunning since you can see the walls of the old town in the distance and lokrum island.
Parking is 17 euros a day!!! which personally i think is a rip off.
We stayed on the 1st floor and could constantly hear dripping sounds of water from the walls!!
Apart from this the property is nice and once you get use to the old styled interiors the place grows on you.
The staff is really nice.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking your time and writing review about our hotel!
It is true our hotel keeps traditional style which sometimes can seem old fashioned, but thank you for noticing that hotel is well maintained.
Dubrovnik is lacking parking space and our parking price is not much different from the others.
Thank you for recognizing our staff it makes us proud.

We hope that we will have the opportunity to accommodate you some time in the future again.

Best Regards,

Sanela Omercahic

We stayed for 3 nights in Villa Glavic which is just across the road from the main hotel, although all the hotel facilities are available to guests staying in the villa.
We stayed in a superior sea view room with a balcony which had amazing views down to the walled city and out to sea. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable with air con, flat screen tv etc.
We thought that the hotel was absolutely amazing and were surprised to read some of the other guests reviews on here which aren't so positive.
The pool area was wonderful, lots of loungers and parasols with plenty of towels. There is an unheated outdoor pool which was very cool but refreshing! It was very hot when we stayed so this was great. You can swim in the sea too. The beach cafe was great, perfect for lunch with salads, sandwiches etc.
There is also an indoor pool and a gym and jacuzzi, all great.
We didn't eat dinner in the hotel as we walked down the hill into the walled city each night. We did have drinks in the bar on level 4 with a huge outdoor area with sofas and chairs as well as tables and chairs. This was also where we had our breakfast each morning looking out over the Adriatic. The choice for breakfast was incredible! Just about everything you could think of, all the usual cooked breakfast items, fruit, yoghurts, pastries, bread, toast, cereals, nuts, cheese, ham, cakes and desserts (tempting but we didn't indulge!)' pâté, cream cheese, juices, champagne and probably more that I missed.
We found the staff incredibly helpful and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt very well looked after.
This was our first trip to Croatia and we really enjoyed every moment of our 3 days. Dubrovnik itself is so beautiful with lots to do and see.
We went up in the cable car, the views are absolutely breathtaking. We visited the war museum at the top which was a very moving and humbling experience.
We loved the hotel and the area and found it very hard to come back to rainy England and 'real life' after such a magical trip.
We hope to return one day and would definitely go back to this hotel if we got the chance.

We stayed at the Grand Villa Argentina when they had their recent heatwave (temps peaked at 37 deg), the hotel is really nice, clean and modern with a traditional feel and the service/food is good, its located in beautifully maintained gardens with stunning views, the pool/private beach area is lovely and only 10 minutes walk into the old city We stayed on the top floor of the Glavic Villa which is located behind the main hotel, apart from having a fantastic view we were disappointed that we had to climb 7 flights of stairs to get to our room (no lift), the air conditioning didn't work properly, the safe was broken as was the toilet seat and the shower door didn't close properly, we were also surprised to descover there was no iron/ironing board in the room, apparently its a fire hazard, this was not made clear on their website, if you need anything pressed you'll have to pay for this service. On the plus side Dubrovnik is stunning, the old town especially so, well worth a visit, there are lots of excursions to choose from plus there is an excellent choice of restaurants/cafe's etc, it can be expensive but we managed to eat and drink well for an average of between £35-40, we also spent a day on Lokum Island which is a real gem/thoroughly recommended.

Room Tip: Rooms in the main hotel are probably better if you can get them, not only that there are lifts ! i would not recommend the Villa Glavic if you have a disability/elderly, too many steps !

We have just enjoyed a most amazing holiday at the Grand Villa Argentina, with the best spell of hot weather I can remember for a long time! We stayed at this hotel about 12 years ago, and it then had serious Eastern bloc overtones, with dingy decorations, poor quality bathroom & fittings. However, I am pleased to say that there has been a total refurbishment and everything is now up to a well deserved 5* standard.

On our previous visit the outdoor pool was too dirty to use, but is now sparkling clean and set in a very attractive sun terrace. There is access to the Adriatic, and also a spa and indoor pool which provides a very relaxing lounging area. The meals were good enough, without being oustanding, and the service was a bit hit and miss on occasions, when items requested were not brought. But overall, no complaints.

We had a sea facing room (on the first floor) but I think the rooms on the upper floors would have a better view across the bay.

However, there is one serious reservation that I feel I must make about the Argentina. During our week's stay there were 2 evenings when an outdoor function was held in the Pool Bar. On one evening, the music went on well after midnight with a live singer. This made sleep impossible, even with the window closed and the air con on. Given that the age profile of the majority of guests was 50+ I think many would have been disappointed that the tranquility of the location was seriously disrupted. I can appreciate that hotels have to utilise all their facilities as much as possible to help to keep costs down, but this was just too disturbing.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a sea view on one of the higher floors.

First of all I would like to say that I am very happy to hear that you decided to stay in our hotel again after 12 years.
I am sorry that your stay was disturbed by 2 wedding parties that we had in Beach restaurant. We will work on that very carefully in the future.
