This hotel has absolutely beautiful grounds and the location is great for walking to the old city. The staff is unfriendly at best and the rooms need real renovation.

The idea was to make this hotel our splurge after 2 weeks of island hoping around the country. We arrived early afternoon and were told that we needed to wait until "past 2pm" for our room to be ready. The first room we were brought to had a dingy view of the parking lot, several stains on the carpet, and a bottle cap on the bed. We complained and were then brought to another room, this one with excrement still in the toilet. Totally disgusting. We complained again and were then upgraded to a very nice sea view room with balcony. If we didnt end up with the sea view room, I would have been very disappointing with spending so much money to stay at this place.

On the positives, the pool area on the sea was one of the most beautiful spots and made an excellent afternoon after the hot days in the old City. The breakfast was okay, we would get there pretty early and the food would generally be cold. I would not stay here again.

Room Tip: The sea view rooms with balcony are fantastic. The standard rooms are small, dirty, and provide a b...

Due a medical emergency I had to cancel our reservation 2 days prior to arrival. We had 6 hotels booked in Europe and 5 of the 6 were very understanding and cancelled without a fee. The Grand Villa Argentina was especially kind and immediate in their response. I had heard only great things about this hotel and their owners and now I know why. A real example for the rest of the industry, especially, in Europe! They are first class in every way!!! CONGRATULATIONS!BTW: 1) I offered hospital and doctor contact info for verification and that was not necessary 2) The ONLY hotel who refused to cancel and who charged full fare was the NH Porta Rossa, in Florence, Italy. I've stayed there before, as well as in other NH hotels in Europe, and they still refused even a minimum accommodation. I'll never use NH ever again!

The breakfasts were probably the best of our entire holiday in Croatia. Every imaginable item was available and the outside seating is lovely. The rooms were somewhat larger than a typical European room and ours had a lovely balcony where we could watch the impressive yachts come and go. The ocean view is divine. Old Town is a 10 minute walk all downhill so think of that as you stroll within the old city walls. The pool area is beautiful and the water amazing with a nice ladder to climb in and out of the ocean as the water is quite deep and no steps in the rocks. I appreciated the quiet of this hotel as we had spent several difficult nights in Hvar where the party never ends.

5 * location, 5* views, 4* rooms, alas 3 * breakfast/food. Despite the disappointing food would definitely return as the views from the pool area of the beautiful city more than compensated. Top tip - during peak season be prepared for a shortage of sun loungers around the pool area!

loved the scenery. 10 min walk to old town. everything was very nice and comfortable. Champagen included in our breakfast....yum! Rooms were average however in the old part of the hotel we stayed at. Otherwise, it was an upscale hotel. I probably would stay there again. Elevators were 'Europeanly small' and they were also pretty slow. Loved the place though.

Room Tip: There is an 'older' wing. Get a room in the newer part of the hotel.

My French girlfriend and I stay 3 nights. I am from Mexico/German, and was in several occasions in luxury hotels at the beach. But Gran villa Argentina really blows my mind.

The beach is beautiful, here you have probably the best view of the old town of Dubrovnik, and meanwhile you are swimming in the pool or in the sea. Or why not: just reading and taking the sun.

The hotel beach and its amenities will let you know that you are in paradise!

The whole service was very professional and respectful of my girlfriend and my privacy. The room was very comfortable and has everything you expect for a 5 star hotel. There were L’Occitante products at the bathroom and chocolates were given at night.

We are looking forward to comeback and lay down again on the lounge chairs at the beach.

Greetings,

We (two adults and two kids aged six and two) spent a fantastic five days here. Would recommend a room in the old hotel with balcony and sea views. The room has a couch big enough for our two year old and enough space for an additional bed for the six year old. The room was so spacious that the additional bed didn't need to be folded away during the day. The balcony is very spacious with table and chairs and safe for our two year old.
The hotel has an excellent spa with jacuzzi and indoor pool, gym as well as hair saloon and an outdoor pool and private beach. The sea is very deep and not suitable for kids unless kids are good swimmers but the water is amazingly clear.
The breakfast is excellent with great choice of buffet and several items can be ordered for free from table such as omelette to order, freshly squeezed orange juice, etc. The hotel also has a fine dining restaurant with excellent views of the Dubrovnik old town, we used it once as it was raining heavily to venture out but felt sorry for the other diners due to the noise our kids were making.
There are no kids facilities at the hotel, which we knew, but was not a problem as it is a ten minute walk from the old town which is where we spent most late afternoons to night (too hot to venture out of the hotel before five pm in August).
We plan to come back and will stay at this hotel (there are a number of different villas within this hotel, so may try another villa, specially when kids are older) but will avoid August as the weather is meant to be warm till beginning of October and the prices less than half and the quality of food twice as good as the place is not overrun with tourists!

Room Tip: In villa Argentina old section rooms with balcony and sea view have enough space for two young child...

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Grand Villa Argentina is Dubrovnik’s traditional luxury address, combining exclusivity and attention to detail with spectacular views of the sea, backdropped by pine tree-clad mountains. This five-star hotel in Dubrovnik has a regal, old-world charm. Just minutes from the Old Town, it has been an exclusive enclave in the city for nearly 60 years. Sitting on a steep cliffside, leading down to the sea, the views of the Adriatic stretch from the island of Lokrum round to the old harbour of Dubrovnik. As soon as you walk into the hotel reception, the incredible scenery stops you in your tracks. Lush gardens, with stone fences and secluded corners in which to sit, are filled with lemon, wild orange, rosemary, lavender and bay leaf plants – the flavours of a Mediterranean kitchen. Whether you’re sunbathing on the private beach, with its seaside pool, dining on the restaurant terraces or quietly reading your book in the gardens, spectacular scenery follows you wherever you go. ... more   less
