The service is flawless, the location wonderful, the breakfast memorable. This truly is a beautiful place. We stayed as a family of four in two deluxe rooms facing Lokrum Island for 7 nights. We were located on the forth floor above the swimming pool terrace which was quieter than being above the restaurant area.

Fruit was provided on arrival with bottled water replenished twice a day. The house keeping was spotless although one day it appeared as though the room was made up in a hurry but this was just a minor issue. One day our daughters robes were removed and not replaced but once mentioned it was sorted in no time at all.

The evening housekeeping lady was extremely pleasant checking if we required anything, handing over small truffles in a little box each night.

All staff were friendly and as our rooms were located near reception each and every person spoke as we passed by.

The pool staff prepared each sun bed for a guest with a towel and menu. Once a guest had finished with the bed it was prepared for the next in no time at all. Waiting staff were on hand for drinks and food orders. The beach staff were also on hand to provide umbrellas etc. Swimming in the see is lovely and felt warmer than the pool. The toilets were spotless at all times. There were plenty of towels at all times.

We only ate breakfast which was delicious and well presented, preferring to take the boat to town each night.

Once or twice the boat was not running due to the rough sea so the mini bus is provided. We had a small hiccup on the first night and did not wait at the correct taxi rank. We noticed the mini bus speed by but after phoning the hotel they sent another to collect us. It turned out the silver bus which was the one we spotted and collected us from the airport was not the one collecting guests that evening. They also have a burgundy colored mini bus which was waiting on the other side of the road which we were not aware of so be a little careful about knowing where to wait.

One thing to mention as others have done before is the showers over the baths seem to have a mind of their own. The shower screen does not protect the water from spilling out onto the floor no matter how careful you are. Also the bath is steep so when getting out it is easy to slip. That said the view from the bathroom is wonderful with boats of all descriptions mooring up for the night.

We had the hotel transfer to and from the airport which was arranged easily and on both occasions ready and waiting for us so proved to run very smoothly.

We were all given a complimentary Diamond bed experience in the spa which proved to be very relaxing. You choose a program that suits you and relax for 30 mins on a water bed.

We were very happy with our stay and would not hesitate in returning or recommending this hotel to others. Thank you all at Villa Dubrovnik.

Room Tip: Top floors have the better view. Above the restaurant can be a little noisy and some views blocked b...

Dear Tracey V,

Thank you for your review. I was pleased to hear that you were all able to enjoy Villa Dubrovnik Experience. It certainly sounds like you made the most of the hotel and its surroundings. As you have so kindly mentioned we always like to pamper our guests at each moment and provide the best of the best experience.
Whilst there is so much to see and do in Dubrovnik, we believe that Villa Dubrovnik very much a sanctuary and place to get away from it all.
I look forward to sharing your review with the team, and hope we are able to welcome you back soon.

Kind regards,

Mirna Loncar Strazicic

When we stayed there, we were amazed by this little boutique hotel with staff eager to help out. The hotel is in trendy Dubrovnik, but not in the center, away from the tourist dives. The interiors were spacious. The motif slick, yet elegant. It is a 10-minute boat ride away from the historic center by boat (which leaces every hour from the beachside of the hotel) and facing Lokrum Island, famous for its nude beach. Moreover, it could possibly have the best pool in town! They just need to polish some things around the edges.

I have read some varied reviews of this fine hotel and can only comment on our own experience, best summed up by wow!! The very modern design - lots of stone, glass, wood and steel - may not be to everyone's tastes but we loved it. The hotel is modern, spacious, well equipped and does everything a hotel should do, and does everything to very high standards. The location is second to none. Take a 20 minutes walk to the city on the quiet coastal road, or catch the hotel's own Vaporetto, or failing that, a hotel mini bus that runs on the hour. Rooms are all sea facing with some looking over at the neighbouring island, and others with an enviable view of Dubrovnik itself. Patio doors and balconies make the rooms even lighter and brighter; room space is plentiful and glass walled bathrooms make the most of the views. Public spaces are plentiful; the hotel's staff friendly, obliging and always smiling. The spa, pool and "beach" (rocks by the sea really) offer areas to relax. The restaurant is understated but offers quality food and an odd prosciutto come wine bar on the top deck has the best views of the city. Breakfast is cooked to order with as much choice as just about anyone could wish for. Make no mistake, this is a relatively expensive hotel but you get top quality service in top quality surroundings. My only (minor) gripe - we asked about the tailor made excursions but balked at the exorbitant prices. A tip: the same excursions can be bought at half the price from one of the travel agencies in the city. But, that apart, top marks for a top hotel.

Villa Dubrovnik is extremely designer-y right from the outside elevator tower down to reception to the rooms and restaurants. The decor is faultless, yet feels a bit cold and business like (dark wood, lots of beige, TV planted as a focal point in the middle if the rooms..). What makes this hotel stunning is the location opposite Dubrovnik with a view of the old town and a motorboat shuttle provided to take you there. I truly liked the informal, but very friendly staff at the restaurants and the beach- they make this a wonderfully relaxed experience for a five star hotel. The food is delicious, very fresh and never too much (though people with a large appetite might find the portion sizes on the small side). Spa treatments were all good. The beach though is very small- essentially a series of rocky plateaus with loungers and you share the swimming with the landing for the hotel boat shuttle. When its windy, it is quite difficult to get in as it gets a bit choppy and the ladders and rocks tend to be very slippery. So- go if you want to see Dubrovnik and stay at a fabulous place, but choose another place if your aim is swimming and a resort experience.

"Liked the location of the hotel and contemporary design, some of which worked better than others (liked glass sea-view and the rooftop lounge, didn't like shower in steep tub and TV in center of room at foot of bed). The housekeeping left a bit to be desired- the dirty glasses of the previous guests were still in the room when we checked in and the next day the cleaning rag was left on the desk chair. I put the rag in the hallway where it remained there until we checked out. None of this would have fussed me but you are paying top-notch prices here which should guarantee a bit more. The staff were friendly, the food good and the view amazing. In fact, my husband choose this as his favourite hotel on our trip. He loved glass overlooking the water, which made our room light and bright. We stayed in room 401 which has a Jacuzzi on the deck and he enjoyed bathing there every day. I liked the spa and especially the Dream machine which balances your chakras with coloured lights. We were happy to have stayed there, weren’t over the top about the great value, but Dubrovnik is a world class destination and nothing is inexpensive."

We had an amazing stay here in June. The staff are brilliant, very welcoming and helpful without the stuffiness of most hotels of this standard. The rooms and big and comfortable and the facilities are lovely - the view from the roof bar has to be seen to be believed. The highlight is the vaporetto that goes from the hotel jetty to the Old Town - the main reason we booked and a lovely way to go in and out of town.

This in my view is the nicest hotel in Dubrovnik.....

The decor and environment is second to none. The location is great; the hotel providing both complimentary boat and taxi services into the centre of Dubrovnik ....the boat is particularly lovely as it is a retro Italian number ....

Nice indoor pool area with open sun-bathing area .....although we preferred the sun-beds by the sea.

Overall very enjoyable stay ....only reason for 4 stars rather than 5 is that we had a bit of a problem with the bill when we left; we were charged for items we hadn't had, and whilst it was sorted I felt they thought we were being trivial despite it being a substantial amount of money.

I hope this was just a minor oversight on their behalf as the majority of staff that we dealt with were absolutely first-class, we really enjoyed it and would like to return.
